  1. We are taking our little dog over to our house near St Malo for the first time on Thursday, this means we haev to get him to a vet at least 24 hrs before our return which is on the following Tuesday.  Havent a clue what we do when we get there and wondered if anyone knew if vets were open on a Monday as it seems we will have to get him "done" by 9.30am on the monday morning.  Its a blinking nightmare really because we are going back over on 22nd December and returning on Tuesday 2nd jan so again we are going to be buggered because I cant imagine a vet being open on 1st January or Sunday 31st.  Has anyone else got this problem.
  2. Oh well, a rousing response, there cant be anyone in our area which is amazing as it is a beautiful place.  Thought I would answer myself so as not to feel lonely lol
  3. Just wanted to say it on paper!  4 days to go before we pack up our trailer and spend our very first night in our house in Ploubalay. We have owned it since we married in 2002 and it is finally finished and absolutely LUSH.  I Love it I love it and I cant wait to be in it, though on arrival we have to : tile a floor, lay an oak floor, paint every wall, varnish said floors, fit a sink and hang all the curtains, varnish 2 staircases, fit the lights and a squillion other things. But, its renovated, its lovelly and I cant wait to get in it.  Just had to tell someone, anyone.  All I hope is I get a seasick free crossing on the good old Bretagne which we have been sailing on since 2002 on a monthly basis, even our honeymoon began on there, I have thrown up on that ship so much it feels like home![+o(] Thanx for listening to my ranting, its the Welsh in me it gets far too excited for my own good[:D]
  4. Hi we are about to move fully into our home in Ploubalay and wondered if there were any fellow Brits or Welsh (me)  out there who live nearby. Would like to make friends with some nice new people and hopefully find someone to share a festive drink with this christmas.  Would also be grateful for any thoughts on cheap ways to move our furniture over, we have looked at taking a trailer and a van (we have moved lots of stuff already), does anyone know of any lorries who accept part loads going Saint Malo way. Anyway, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanx   Saff
  5. Our builder started our renovation in May and said it would take 8-12 weeks, he then took loads of time off the job to start other works though has done a good job of the work he has done, however, he is still not finished and blaming his plasterer etc, and is now saying he would like the final installment even though it may take another 3 weeks to complete (according to him).  I am unhappy about paying the final monies as I feel I have no leverage if he does not finish, Do you think it unreasonable of me to withold the final payment until completion or sensible.  I am quite happy with the work so far, just disheartened by the delays and having to put off moving all the time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanx  Saffy
  6. I wondered if anyone has any experience /feedback on 2 building companies in dept 22 the first is Renov2000 from Yvignac and the 2nd is Welby near Dinan. I have just received devis from both and have been told so many horror stories about builders that it would be great to hear if anyone out there has ever used them. We cant afford to lose £30k so need to know we can trust them and dont know who to ask. Many thanks
  7. Hi, I know this was an old question but we have 2 homes in that area and it is a very sought after part of Brittany. Dinan is beautiful and as a rental and an investment I would think it was a good idea. Perhaps if you did buy in the end we might see you over there. regards saffiere and paul
