  1. So if the money is given to the beneficiaries in accordance to the will, does that then come under the heading of a gift and not subject to  inheritance tax ? Les Favets
  2. Living in France full time, with a relation  in the U.K. who has passed away resulting in our inheriting money etc.,  Having paid the U.K. inheritance tax ( if any ) is it also subject to French inheritance taxes? Les Favets
  3. Another point of information that I have not seen given, is that when you hand over your driving licence, you are given a sheet of paper advising that your driving licence has been applied for, just incase you are stopped by police etc., Les Favets
  4. We own a lake which we purchased as "private ownership" and for the past 10 years have operated accordingly We have recently been told by the persons who sold us the property that this was because their ancestors purchased same before 1910.  We would like to find the deeds when this purchase took place as we are looking to sell our total property including the lake ( 7 hectare ).  Who and where would I approach to obtain this informtion from ? Regards Les Favets
  5. Just in case the message I placed in the  " Swimming Pool Regulations " prior to this message is missed, where Andrew states tht Gite owners are classified as public pools and have regular inspections. I am placing a separate question:   Could any of you ou there confirm either way if you do or do-not have your pools inspected. Regards Les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
  6. Hi Andrew, I am a bit confused with your comments.  Are you saying that all of us 1000's of Gite owners with swimming pools are classified as  having " Public pools " and will be having regular inspections????? We have a Gite,  We have a Pool which our clients use, We do not let the general public use it, Todate 2 years after having the pool installed :  NO !! one has come to inspect it at any time let alone : regular inspections.  May I ask any other Gite owners if they have regular inspections of their pool ? 9. We direct our lets towards couples as they do not lend to more people and there seems to be quite a few couples out there satisfied with what we offer.  Providing you give them a well furnished, clean !! and attractive accommodation it should work out for you.   BUT !! and it is a big but : one can never guarantee how many lets you will be able to encourage irrespective of the size of the Gite you are offering Regards Les Favets

  19. I can not believe that under this heading " Hotel and Restaurant owners " that I have not had more replies to my " New Years Eve " question , under another heading below.  I have also tried through several other web-sites sending out about 30 equiries, only to have received five replies.  Is it : that in France they don't celebrate New Years Eve as in the U.K. ? Regards Les Favets www.ruralfrancholidays.com
  20. Hi!! To you both,  It is all this french language that seems to be taking over my life.  I meant by: official !!  One that was being organised by either gite, Hotel or B&B , ownwers, rather then friends or local villagers coming together just for the night.  We have had one being offered which falls in line with this ie; An English club that organises social functions throughout the year are having a sing along and later dancing on the evening and have invited us ( Through the net ) to join them but there is no accommodation being offered. At the moment there is only my wife and myself although we have had 2 other couples who are friends who have shown interest. Regards Les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
