1.
Would be a lot easier if I just want a refund but I don't want that.  I have bought some things at 15% VAT and at a bit of a bargain so I ain't gonna let go.........
It maybe worth checking on the M&S site if theses goods are still available as their turnover is very fast. If they are still available ask M&S to reserve them for you while they sort out the non delivery. If they are no longer in stock then rather than blowing  a fuse, just ask for an immediate refund and leave them with the hassle of sorting out the lost goods. Baz
2.
Buy a 'Clickfree' external drive - needs no thought, just plug it in and it automatically searches for any personal data - photos, word files, emails +++ and saves them. You can restore to any computer as well, handy for changing to a new computer. Can be used with multiple computers allowing exchange of files. Satisfied user, no connection with co.
Mikew, I agree with your comments, "Clickfree" is brilliant, just plug into your USB port job done. It is produced by a Canadian company and if not available in France can be bought on QVC UK, I am also just a satisfied customer. Baz
3. A reliable and safe pool is going to cost money to build and maintain. If you are only going to get 8 weeks a year, then it may be worth considering having a heat exchanger to extend the annual usage and justify the outlay. Any purpose built pool that is going to be dismantled yearly will surely lead to many more problems and expenses. A permanent well constructed pool should give years of service if correctly winterised and the water purity is maintained within the prescribed parameters. Baz
4. I have had a Panasonic TV with Freesat built in and can confirm that are excellent sets. I should point out that with regards to HD on freesat that currently there are only  two channels operating. The BBC for about 8 hours a day and ITV with very limited transmissions although I suspect there will possibly be more over the next year. Baz
5. Sprogster, I agree with all your comments but there maybe two further reasons for the card change. Firstly, they have their own Mastercard Prepaid in Ireland and it could well be available in the future in the UK. Then I suspect they will change the goalpost once again and only allow their card. Secondly, as 20 million of the 60 million passengers carried by Ryanair are currently using Electron, they possible think by swapping to a more obscure card that they can will get more booking fees as passengers may not apply for the new card. I think it is high time that the authorities stated that any potential booking charges must be included in any stated basic fare with an addendum saying how the cost could be reduced. Baz
6.
The problem with rechargeable/prepaid Mastercard is that they are expensive to use, in that they charge a percentage of the money you credit to the card and most charge a monthly fee to the card as well.
In the UK the Mastercard Prepaid are available without any monthly fee and just a 2% charge when adding funds. If they are used only for booking Ryanair flights then this a cheap way of not paying booking charges. Baz
7.
How long before the only card that can be used will be a pre-paid LEARYCARD ?
Ryanair has already issued their own MasterCard Prepaid in Ireland and it maybe coming to the UK, so that is probably the reason for stopping the Electron card. If it becomes available in the UK then surely their next step will to make it the only card to avoid booking fees and extra profit Ryanair. Baz
8. If you are a bad sailor then crossing the channel in the winter months should be left to the hardy mariners and  I would also suggest as clarkkent always use Eurotunnel at this time of the year even it add some miles to your journey. I really know what the channel can do, more so in the winter, having spent 5 years in Dover in my youth. Baz
9. I hope the CPS do prosecute her as being a so called high profile person this will be a reminder to others. I suspect after speeding in the UK that using a mobile phone is the next most flouted motoring offence. Baz
10. Thanks milkeybar kid, from my initial cursory look it appears to translate better than other sites I use. Like you my French is poor so it would be interesting to hear the opinions from fluent French speakers. Baz
11.
"If you want that, fly BA and pay their prices" Which at the moment can be cheaper than FR.....but you won't get 5* service and meals with them either......
I think this sums up why I would everytime use BA if they flew to the destination I wanted: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/value-calculator/public/en_gb Baz
12. If your email provider is Hotmail, then you need to change to Windows Live as Microsoft no longer support Outlook Express. Microsoft have sent numerous emails informing of this change. This is a copy of the last email I received from Windows Live Hotmail Team in August. If you try changing to Windows Live  hopefully you will find all your new and saved emails. Dear Windows Live Hotmail Customer, You are receiving this note because you have used Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Express, or Entourage to view your Windows Live Hotmail®. Microsoft is changing the way these programs access Hotmail e-mail which will require you to take action. To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account, please select one of the alternative solutions below before September 1, 2009. After this day, new e-mail can only be delivered to your mail programs through the following alternative solutions. If you use Microsoft Office Outlook to view Hotmail, you can download free Office Outlook Connector to continue accessing your Windows Live Hotmail within Outlook 2003 or 2007. If you're using Outlook 2002, you will need to change the settings on your program to access your Hotmail. Click here to learn more. If you use Outlook Express to view Hotmail, you can choose to download free Windows Live Mail (recommended) or change the settings on your program to access your Hotmail within Outlook Express. Click here to learn more about your options. If you use Entourage to view Hotmail, you can change the settings in your program to view your e-mail. Click here to learn more. Why is this happening? Outlook, Outlook Express, and Entourage use a legacy communications method (known as the DAV protocol) to access Hotmail. Because the DAV protocol is not optimally suited for programs to access large inboxes such as Hotmail which now provides users ever-growing storage*, new alternatives have been built. Last year, customers asked us to postpone plans to retire the DAV protocol until more options were available. Now that these options (including the POP3 protocol) are available, we are ready to retire the DAV protocol. Thank you for using Windows Live Hotmail.
13. I have been having a problem with this site over the last few days. As I am sure it is server problem I have been waiting for the administrator to have the problem fixed. Baz
14. Sweet17, you do seem to have problems with Nationwide. I look at my accounts daily and except for a short time a couple of weeks ago the site has been operating normally. I have just looked at the site and it is working  A1. May I suggest you speak to the on line help desk at Nationwide and see what they can advise. Have you considered that the problem could be with your computer as Banking sites generally are well maintained. I do not understand you saying you cannot look at your accounts but you then state that your account is overdrawn, I would be onto security asap as it would seem that someone may be accessing your account. Baz
15. I can confirm after a phone call to my insurer Saga today that full comprehensive insurance applies to any EU country for the whole policy year. There are no number of day restrictions and you can stay in the EU for 365 days and be fully covered. Baz
16. A good introduction is to buy "The Home Owners Swimming Pool Handbook." published by SPATA ( the Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association  UK) which will cover most if not all of your needs at a cost of £10. http://www.spata.co.uk/publications.php Another suggestion is to search this site which has many answers and also look at specific swimming pool forum sites, the USA is very good for this. Finally why not  speak to your retiring pool maintenance person as you should learn masses of useful information. Once you master the techniques it is a fairly easy to maintain as long as you follow the basic rules. Baz
17. Ryanair are a law to themselves. With the current reduction in passenger numbers and the grounding of part of their fleet for the winter period, this practise of cancelling or changing flights I suspect will happen often during the coming months. It is sad that planning ahead  cannot any longer be relied upon, but the low cost airlines will only fly when it is viable for them and are  not in business to provide good customer relations. Baz
18. As an additional point about Tesco whether you hate or love them. As of last Monday they have permanently doubled their points on every purchase, which effectively means you save and spend twice as quickly as before. Baz
19.
UK Inland Revenue will however still be expecting their 18% of the gain.
True, but you will be able to offset the UK capital gains allowances for 2009/10 if not already used. Baz
20. What provisions have you in place with reference to Money Laundering? Baz
21. Seven years for a bubble cover is a long time. If it is disintegrating I would recommend removing it straight away before bits start entering your filter system. Bubble covers come in various qualities and different microns but are not too expensive to replace. I have just replaced my cover in the UK after 5 years with the best quality bubble cover for a pool 12x4 metres for about £130, so I would suspect French prices may be cheaper.  Baz
22. An interesting test, by no means easy. Baz
23. I have a Barracuda which I was left by the previous owners and I use it maybe a couple of times a year. With pools up to about 15x5m, I think the outlay is not worth it as cleaning by hand should not take more than 15 minutes and probably better. In any event the exercise is good. Baz
24.

We intend starting the renewal process in July this year so I'll try to remember and report back.
Received  an acknowledgement two days after handing it to MDPH saying the dossier was complete and we should receive the updated badge and invalidity card within four months.
Unless this was a postdated application, then why a four months delay? Baz
25.

The Forum is here to help people, not to sell to them Le Plombier
Quite right which is why people contact him by PM requesting help which may or may not involve him selling them something. This has already been explained and if you are unhappy then contact Forum Admin direct instead of making stupid and annoying comments in open forum.
Well said Quillan. I totally agree with your comments. Baz
