Thanks again for all your helpful comments. Here are the facts: I have a pink photo licence and the piece of paper too. I have not yet been stopped by the Gendarmarie of La Sarthe (touch wood), it's merely friends that have told me how displeased the Gendarmes were when they presented their pink photo licences. Sounds to me like the combination of AXA and my friends have led me to believe I must change my licence. However, from reading your comments, I don't think I'll bother! lemans de la Sarthe

Hi Rapid, I am currently working for clients at their homes to fix their computer problems, install broadband access and to provide tuition on various software.  In the UK, I worked as a freelance web developer under a 10 month contract to one company. Here, I used an umbrella company which worked very effectively.  I would like to use the same process here if I could. Would I be able to use a Portage in order to pay my various cotistations (Retraite, Assurrance Maladie etc) despite the fact that these are lots of small jobs for varying clients?  If so, could you please recommend a Portage to me? Hi, Does anybody know if I can be paid via the Cheque Emploi service scheme by a non French resident?  The person I wish to work for has a French bank account and a holiday home here in France but is an English resident. I am aware that when I am paid via Cheque Emploi service, I receive a cheque for say 10 euros, but they will end up having to pay my cotisations and potentially end up having to 15 or 20 euros. However, I'm not sure if they are able to pay my cotisations if they are not resident in France. Many thanks, lemans
