1. I believe that the company with whom you have the contract has to give you the unlock code. At least that is the way it has worked for me in the past. Randy

 3.
Hi, You really need to decide on an area in which you want to live. The regions you mention cover a huge range of choices. Then set up meetings and view properties with local agent immobiliers. Many ...
Just as a point of information, we just moved to the Aude from Los Angeles. We shipped our household goods and our car in a single, 40-foot container and the cost including packing, delivery and set-up of furniture at this end, was slightly over $8,000. Just getting a new car would have cost more than that! R
 4.
Has anyone completed a purchase recently and been asked by the Notaire to have an asbestos survey conducted. If so what did it involve and how much ?? Many Thanks
Asbestos reports as well as termite and lead reports are required for all real estate transactions, as far as I'm aware. In our case, this was taken care of by the seller, not by us, the buyer. I would think the selling real estate agent should be the one arranging it. R
 5.
I went to Lourdes nearly 30 years ago - probably just because of the film "A song for Bernadette". Frankly, it made me feel sick and disgusted. Even as we waited at the railway station in Nice, we s...
I have to say that my experience at Lourdes was quite different. Yes, all the tacky souvenir shops are there, but those exist at almost every site in the world where lots of people go to visit. What I found were a great many helpful, kind people who seemed very patient with those less fortunate than themselves. I did not go with any religious group, just as an individual interested in what I would find there. I have to say that I don't belong to any specific religion and, generally, don't really feel comfortable with organized religion. I did not have a religious upbringing at all and before going to Lourdes assumed that I would feel a bit uncomfortable there. Instead, I came away greatly moved with the feeling of spirituality that I found in the sanctuary. I felt a feeling of peace that I hadn't expected. Thus, it's clear that the place can have different effects on different people. Randy
 6.
HiI posted on Western France forum but have had no response, so here's hoping someone on this board may be able to help! We have a house in Charente Maritime which we visit quite frequently. We were l...
We've just moved from Los Angeles where every house either has termites, had termites or will have termites. We had drywood (as opposed to suberranean, which we've also had) last year. The droppings look a bit like dark brown, smallish-pellet shaped sawdust. If you look up at the exposed wood, you should be able to see a small hole, which is where they push the dirt from. Termites can be in a house for several years before you know that you have them.
