  1. Form 2042 RICI (same one as tax credit for boiler). Just done a paper return for a relative and downloaded the form. See basic 2042 - note half way down the back page - helpful: not..,. They know who needs the form but don't send it.
  2. Yes, 2042 RICI. Downloadable if doing a paper return but probably available online if you "tick" the right box when choosing which forms you need online.
  3. Hi Having read your reply I can now see your point about adding it to your RFR. I put the amount (< 5K) in boxes 2BT (as second declarant) on both pink and blue forms. Tax at 7.5% worked correctly but you are right that the whole was added to our RFR. Hope you can get the answer you want from Les Impots. Mrs H.
  4. I put an amount (a couple of years ago when I "cashed in" a very small pension pot) in a box on 2042 that says taxed at 7.5%.  Worked a treat, in Uk part would have been tax free, the rest taxed normally but even though I paid 7.5% on it all is was less overall. I will get my file out and tell you the box numbers used on 2047 and 2042 this afternoon. I followed the advice of a "then poster" who had done it previously. Don't remember anything about system de quotient?? Perhaps your lump sum is different? Mrs H.
  5. Agree with AnOther.  Also remember that having a business here will impact on your right to an S1 for health insurance (see posts on question about SIRET number).
  6. I am sure that the last time I pout a new person (a cleaner as it happens) onto a CESU account it asked for the address of the work place.
  7. We have never paid Social charges on UK rents.
  8. Whilst we do pay Social Charges on Interest we have never paid it on UK  rents. We have not had any capital gains so have no idea about this.
  9. Do you mean that the house has no phone line which could be used for broadband? That can be sorted easily.
  10. What about using cheque emploi. This is easy to use for her (client) and she may even get tax relief for some of your charge.
  11. Absolutely Judith, must have butter first...
  12. My Dad lost just one tooth from a denture and I telephoned a dental mechanic.  Non, non - you must see a dentist, we do not take jobs direct was the answer. Luckily a friend had met and used an English dental mechanic working here in France and, having telephoned him, Dad took denture and tooth to him and it was repaired in a jiffy. He told us that in France (using a French d. m.) one always has to go via a dentist but that if Dad wanted a new denture he was quite happy to make one. Dad has since had a couple more  repairs. Although no re-imbursement was available the English chap charges so much less than getting a denture via a dentist that it is still cheaper. Mrs H.
  13. I like Dexeryl, originally prescribed for skin damaged by excema. I use it on my face too. Very light to use and easily absorbed.  Buy in any pharmacy. Mrs H
  14. The time I remember most (in France) was when following the hearse "mini-bus" to the Crematorium for my mother's funeral, a journey of about an hour.  The nice lady in the undertakers had said: just follow him - he will drive slowly. Er...he was French and his driving did not seem slow to me! At one point I got a bit behind and a "white van" got between us. He quickly overtook the hearse too but all I can remember is my Dad (in the car with us) saying "do keep up"... Mrs H.
  15. We asked Newcastle that when first issued with UK EHIIC cards even though we are fully in the French system. I had emailed them and got an email back very quickly to say that we should use the EHIC card in the UK!!! I printed their reply and keep it with us when in the UK.
  16. "Saindoux" is lard - or seems to be. Sold in packets like butter but usually on the cheese/ham counter or near things like paté.  I use it in the pastry I make for mince pies. 8oz flour, 5 oz butter and 1oz lard. Mix with an egg yolk and 2 tbsp water.  These days I put the whole lot in a magimix! I can't make Yorkshire puds, but see above that not opeing the oven door may help so will try again. Happy Christmas
  17. Hi all Thanks a lot. We did have all the right sizes etc but have ordered from a local tyre place which match the price at Feu Vert and can get the tyres for tomorrow (rather than next week). We have learnt a lot !!
  18. Thank you so much - we sort of thought that was what they meant but were not sure.  Have not really decided whether to order online and book a fitting at the same time with the company (Feu vert) or whether to just go to, for example, Leclerc Auto and get them to order the tyres, then fit them.  The existng tyres clearly say 185/55 (as does the bill for them) so assume it is safe to order that size.  It does not seem that the size can be bought off the shelf so will need to order them. Thanks a lot anyway, most helpful,  it will not be cheap for 4 tyres so want to know what we are doing.
  19. Hi Can some kind knowledgeable person please explain the difference between the two following options on fitting four new tyres.   The tyres have to be ordered (uncommon size) but on the website you then choose an option for when you go to have them fitted.  Copied and pasted fom website: Forfait contrôle géométrie + réglage parallélisme des 4 roues x1 ?    OR Forfait montage pneu (montage, équilibrage, remplacement valve) de diamètre 15 pouces ou moins x4 ?
  20. The Elle et Vire creme de Marscapone (mentioned above) is very good indeed used in quiches instead of single cream.  It does indeed whip beautifully and we use it for pavlova etc -  we do not think it tastes at all cheesy.  We can buy it in the big Carrefour supermarket but not Carrefour market.  Not sure about in Leclerc. We do use creme crue as well (but we are in Normandie) but only to eat as it is not cook. We have had no trouble with flour. We use "gateaux" as self-raising and it is fine.  We buy Francine white or multi-grain bread flour and find the loaves are very good. But: we are using a bread machine. Mrs H
  21. Hi We got an email today from what looks like a paypal address (ends  .be which looks suspicious) suggesting that someone was using our account illegally but "we don't think it is you"... Our computer would not let us open the link (said it was  dangerous). I have checked our account, from the bookmark I always use, and all seems well. I am certain that this is a scam.  Not sure if I can forward the email to paypal. Take care! Edit: Paypal say please send to  [email protected]  which I have done.
  22. Hi I should have added that any aide given by the Soc. Serv. (i.e. towards board & lodging) once the patient/spouse and child contributions is theoretically repayable - for instance from assets left on the death of the patient. The notaire that deals with the estate will be in touch with Soc. serv. to find out - one does not have the option of refusing!! It was a steep learning curve for us. Mrs H
  23. Many, many thanks.  I googled quite a lot of different words to try to find out but you are clearly better at it then me!! Mrs H.
  24. Hi We have to collect our son from Rennes (dept.35) station on Monday afternoon.  We have been there several times but not for a year or two and the best car park is gare-sud which is underground. However checking on google today it says " your destination is on Rue de Chatillon which is closed!!" Trying gare-nord (Blvd Solferino) google says "fastest route avoids blvd Solferino which is closed".  Anyone live near Rennes who knows if these car parks are actually open please?  Parking otherwise anywhere near the station is a nightmare. Son will be tired having flown from Canada to CdG and then TGV to Rennes so we would like to avoid him having to tour the town on foot to get to the car. Many, many thanks if you can help.  We have satnav but cannot decide which car park to try first! Mrs H.
  25. My mother was in an EHPAD  run home. Absolutely wonderful care and the staff were amazing. The point about children having to contribute should not be taken lightly. The Social Services are not interested in what their nationality is or where they live! They will and do insist on details of income and assets and if these are not forthcoming from children the "aide" will be refused. Once sorted though it works very well and if need be "they" chase overseas children for the assessed contribution.  (I can attest to this from personal experience - although it was not me that was refusing to co-operate! We ended up having to get a judge to decide who paid what., which then unblocked the aide.) Another thing to bear in mind is that the good Homes have waiting lists. The APA à domicile scheme works well too, but like all "aide" my recollection is that one has to have been living in France for at least five years.  My mother had this before she went into the Home, but even if one qualifies the money given does not, in our experience, cover the whole cost. You can have the helpers from an agency (who are paid direct) or pay them yourself by Cheque emploi. This latter was better for us as we could choose the helpers. In any case proof of expenditure of the money given must be sent to the Social Services every month. I have no idea about insurance/mutelle policies for this. Mrs H.
