  1. Hello We have had a Carte Vitale for almost a year now, issued as of right as my husband is over 65. Ours do not seem to have an expiry date. Is that because we are retired? Perhaps the expiry only applies to people who are still contributing. Tricia

    Mutuelles

Is anyone out there using a French Mutuelle for top-up insurance please? We have quotes from Exeter Friendly and other companies but would be interested in knowing costs of French policies. We realise we could go round the various companies but if anyone has experience of these it would help to narrow down our choices. We are particularly interested in likely costs for two almost 80 year olds (not us but parents). Thanks, Marcus
  3. I buy Virlix in France (you need the pharmacist to agree you can have them as they are theoretically prescription only, but they always seem to agree). They cost about 5 for 15 but you only take one a day and they are very good. I have to take loads of piriton for the same effect! The equivalent in UK (can't remember the name but the chemist in Boots looked at the Virlix packet) and they cost 4 or so for just 7. My husband says handkerchiefs would be cheaper. Tricia
