  1. It's the time of year I always think of  TeamedUp, I'm buying my marscapone ready for the pastry and have my mincemeat ready for my pies. Have a delish Christmas all !!!
  2. Hi All Well, I've got my mums alice adsl working without any problems, we're in a non degroupage area so are still paying FT. The line quality on the telephone when dialling to or from the alice box is appalling.  I know its effectively VOIP but still it's very bad cutting out every 2 or 3 seconds.  We've had no adsl dropouts and the adsl is very fast.  I've tried telephoning and emailing alice, but you know what their like. Any ideas to improve the quality ?? thanks pippa
  3. This morning we arrived in Agen at 9.30 to go to the hotel des impots and by 10.12 were in posession of a new carte grise!! It's amazing if you got your cert of conformite, new headlights and the controle technique in this 42 minutes and I'd say the fastest ever ! but as I assume you went to the impots with all this paperwork in your mitts first then not that much of a record.
  4. oh so do I TU it's the only way to find numbers out of your department and as I'm bordering 3 departments and the docs and vets etc etc are in the neigbouring department without PJ online i'd be stuffed so to speak :o)
  5. washy u need your lpg paperwork, I had to have my attestation de conformite for the system and the installer for the controle technique. ill check my cg tomorrow and see what it says re essence/lpg i still reckon you should go to prefecture and check its absurd 600e
  6. motorhead re the sorn thing we do exactly the same and re frame ebay thing, hubby is planning the same thing for the turbo. Went to the prefecture, who said oh yes its old but we need an attestation de conformity, phone the drire, drire said oh yes the prefecture is stupid, we're fed up of telling them it's nothing to do with us, go and phone kawasaki, phoned them, oh yes theres no way we can give you attestation, although send us 100e if u want and we'll send you a piece of paper saying in no way can this bike be restricted. what a load of b*ll
  7. I'd go and argue, have they noted the LPG on the CG because when I changed my ford mondeo estate over to my name they didn't put essence/gpl on the carte grise and the controle technique picked it up and told me to go back to the prefecture, in the meantime I read up and realised I shouldn't have paid anything as i'm in a lpg = free CG area. I went back explained they'd made a mistake and it was lpg, they changed the CG and refunded my my previously paid fee.
  8. Am just about to install an alicebox at my parents, can you put filters on the other phone extensions so that by default your always using the alicebox free calls option ?? They aren't in total degroupage and so are still keeping their FT Line OR do they have to make all their national and local calls (so they get them free) from the alicebox modem ??? I'm thinking its probably easier to put a wifi card in the computer and keep the alicebox downstairs where they use their main phone, filters would be easier still though.
  9. maybe try posting the question here http://www.babycentre.co.uk/bbs/557981/index.html I know there are many mums there who live in Paris who may know of a nursery
  10. Its an excellent idea, my friends and I have started something a bit similar and are going to try baby swopping afternoons so that we all have a bit of a break ! We're in southern indre so a bit far away from you I'm afraid :o( Hope lots of people turn up take care Pippa + Jacques
  11. Get some seeds, grow some in a pot and some in the ground or buy a plant from the garden centres if you can find any, then let it go to seed and the wind spread mine over my patch and I've got 5 or 6 really good coriander plants in different spots of garden now. I picked a huge bunch to go on top of my curry last night. Delish
  12. I know of many brits who have moved over with children from 7-11 year olds in and around the creuse area and they have all settled in really well and speak fluent french within a very short space of time, I've spoken to the kids in great length about why they don't want to go back to england and rest assured france is where they want to be. One problem they do find is that their english grammer and reading falls short so i'd bring some gcse or good study books with you.
  13. Pain that I am, has anyone got the tel number to phone to get the ftv cards ? We've bought another box and it has the old card so need a housey card. thanks Pippa

[Crazy] I'm resident full time in france but my husband works in england for on average more than 6 months a year so the vehicles which happen to be motorbikes are VERY difficult to register in france and Hubby will not sell them, so rather than ride illegally in the uk without tax which many english people that I know do, when he is in england the bikes are taxed, mot'd and insured but my cars have always been bought in the uk (LHD) and registered on french plates within weeks of purchasing and therefore insured in france. Have you asked your French insurer recently if your UK registered cars are REALLY insured in France? Well as I'm having problems with a AGF broker at the moment regarding the insurance on my car I doubt it makes much difference if its french or english registered as to their attitude to policy details. BUT I have always advised the broker when hubby will be out of the country (france) working and have had to pay extra premium to cover this but its still cheaper than insuring in the uk and getting green cards all the time to bring them back to france.
  15. hubby has a 91/92 Bimota YB8 no chance whatsoever of getting a COC as manufacturers have gone belly up, what can we do now ??? We've been told by some Kawasaki turbo owners that hubbys turbo should get immatriculation fairly easily because its 20 years old, they reckon V5 and tax form off to the prefecture, I doubt this but maybe we'll try it next week and let you know what they say
  16. The post office will accept insurance from a french company as my husband has taxed 2 of our vehicles in the uk at least 2 years running. His Post office said they didn't care what insurance it was but they could clearly see the vehicle was insured.
  17. I have a 13 month old son and when I went back to the UK for a weekend I went to the charity shops and stocked up and family bring over books, when they are really urgently wanted I buy through amazon or their marketplace hth Pippa
  18. Our Hyper U and Super U now stock a professional creme, its in the big litre cartons and costs 2.50 at hyper u or 2.65 at super u, it is in a blue and white carton with a chef on the front. It's excellent and whips just like *uk* cream. Trifles are no longer a battle of the cream....
  19. We recently scrapped one of our UK vans in our field, hubby spent 3 or 4 days with his angle grinder and then we filled in the exported section of the V5 and sent it to swansea. Our local tip will take vehicles so it might be worth asking yours hth pippa
  20. My little one is 1 next saturday and at our last visit to the PMI they wanted to make an appointment for the MMR, when I explained the problems that UK docs are reporting they were quite surprised and claimed they hadn't heard about any possible links with autism, they want me to take in some info for them. They offered to contact the manufacturer of the 3 in 1 and discuss it with them. They think it might be possible to get individual injections but will let me know. I said I didn't want him vaccinated until he was 18 months and they were quite happy about it and said this wasn't an obligation. However for me having an uncle who is sterile due to getting mumps in teenage life I feel the MMR is fairly vital and I'd be happier with Jacques having it before going to school.
  21. no hmph was my exasperation but it does something like 130mph and should do 160. He's been asking around on various forums and the bike shops we've been too lately don't know of any, have to search again thanks pippa
  22. Motorhead, as a matter of interest hubby is looking for a rolling road/dyno testing place, I saw on your bio your in central france, do u know where theres one ? We're just off jnct 21 of the A20. Hubbys 750 Turbo apparently isn't going fast enough *hmph* Thanks Pippa
  23. Andrew as a matter of interest how are you managing to fill your pools once built with the water restrictions ? I'm contemplating buying a pool but it seems pointless if you cant have any water in it, thanks Pippa
