1. The sunflowers were there when photographed them, (except the middle one!) but the butterflies were added later. Some very good examples from everybody. I'm glad I started this theme. Keep 'em coming!
2. Hi Gus, You cant have everything! So I have managed to bend the sun around 180 degrees! But it would really take an expert with photographic knowledge to spot it! (Um . . . .like your goodself!) Actually it can easily be done if you can aquire Adobe Photoshop 4. It is very versatile and you can hours of fun processing your photos and it does'nt take long to master it.  Watch this space and I will add another pic soon! PS. Nice web site and lovely property!
3. I do not approve of cheating generally, but you can have some fun and create quite good effects twiddling with your mouse.  This picture is a composite of three different photos, cunningly(?) superinposed to make a finished product. Has anyone any similar? to add to this thread?
4. Here are some old ones! Pictured these  in Vertuil. Charente. It made my fingers itch for the paint brush.
5. Hi Barrym, No big problem with Wanadoo other than only 516 gb speed  and failure to be able to telephone and be on line at the same time. One other thing that jars, they have been charging me 29.95 for a year and then without any explanation, they are now taking 39.95 on my prelevement. So it is time for a change. I understand that all the instructions and help lines are in English! Thanks for your mail! Regards. lautrec.
6. Many thaanks Cooperlola and Ethelred. Your remarks give me confidence to carry on with Teleconnect. Regards. Lautrec.
7. Anyone using Teleconnect? I am just about to change to this server, so before takng the plunge, has anyone using this service, any comments, good or bad, to say about it? I have not had good experiences of Tiscali or Wanadoo, so maybe this time, third times lucky! Am very anxious to hear! Thank you!
8. Hi Woody, We applied for the Certificate in November and expected a reply before Xmas. The silence was deafening and just when we were going to go down to the Marie to sort them out, it arrived in mid-January.It was all quite painless and the cost was zero! They do say that one should get a receipt when depositing the application; we didn't but it all ended up OK. But I do think that you should pop in to the Marie and ask nicely if eveything is in order.
9. Hi Ernie, If you want am ISP which has English as the main language, get in touch with a newish company designed for use by ex-pats, Teleconnect. Their help line is free and you will be assisted by an English person. I am just moving from Wanadoo after 13 months of trial and tribulation and hope that any change will be as good as a rest!
10. I am cancelling my Wanadoo registration in favour of moving to Teleconnect and I have the proper letter ready to post.  Could anyone tell me the address of Wanadoo where one would send the letter to? I think it is somwhere in Marseilles!
11. Has anyone had experience os selling their house without the 'help' of a Agent. We are led to believe that it is the buyer that pays the comission, but actually, the 6K Euros plus euros that put on your price is morally money lost to the seller. I would appreciate to hear from someone, who with the use of advertising, plus web sites and possible other methods, like local and maybe UK  notice boards, has made a successful sale.
12. Thanks everyone! I have the letter printed and all of the spaces filled in. Looking through the terms and conditions of Wanadoo, it would appear that I only have to give one month's notice to terminate my contract (After 12 months). I have contracted Teleconnect, and they have confimed that I am in their catchment area. As it takes 2 - 3 weeks to get connection, I will now go ahead and send off my application to them and also my letter to Wanadoo. What a relief to be able to phone up free to a ISP, and speak to someone in perfect English! I think they will snap up quite a lot of Brits who are looking for ADSL.! When I am settled in, I will give an assesment to anyone thinking of switching servers!
13. Hi Annie, I had the same problem with Wanadoo and eventually despite all my efforts and buying costly replacements,  I could get 512mb boadband, but could never get to use the telephone at the same time as I was on  line. It is almost impossible to get any sense out of their helplines and in the end I raised the white flag and I am now arranging to transfer to Teleconnect. It is much the same price, but I will now get up to 6 mb ADSL and cheap phone calls to the UK, and what is more a free helpline in English! Struggle on, but I think you might find it easier to give them the push in the near future! Bon chance!
14. Thanks again Cassis & BJSLIV. I have now completed the letter of cancellation as per specimen and am reading to dispatch it. However, in my Terms & Conditions I find this ...... .....de ses obligations la resiliation pourra intervenir de plein droit si une mise en demeure par lettre avec accuse de reception est demeuree sans effet pendent un mois. I was under the impression that I would have to give Wanaddoo two months notice, but if I am reading this correctly, it would appear that this period could be only one month! Am I correct?
15. Hi Cassis, The termination document I mentioned in my previous posting is not the one that I can use, as it is for terminating the contract on an Orange mobile phone. Can you, or anyone with the knowledge, tell me where I can find the letter with the wording that I require, for cancelling an ADSL contract? I have trawled through the web site that Cassis mentioned, and I found every legal letter other than the one I wanted. Some years ago, when I had the occasion to need it, I did copy it from the Internet and used it satisactorily with my Tiscali cancellation. But I have spent quite some time on French Google without any success. Please assist me. Thank you!
16. Thanks for your helpful replies. No, Mikew, I have two phone outlets and both have filters. Thinking that the filters were ne marche pas, I went to Leclerc and bought two new ones. Still no dice! The strange thing is, that when I first installed it, I did work properly for a few weeks and then without warning it stopped functioning! I do not understand why I was paying differently to you Mike and I will check out my contract. Thank you Cassis for this termination letter. I seem to remember this document when I cancelled with Tiscali, but I forgot the wording and where I got it from. I will now save it for future use! I read on this Forum that you have to return the Livebox to Wanadoo and the correspondant told the sad tale of sending it back and it was never received at the other end  (So they said!) and he was subsequently charged Euros 60 odd as a penalty. The moral of that story is that it should have been sent back  'se recommander! I will therefore give notice to Wanadoo ASP, remembering to go my bank and cancel my SO and then about 6 weeks time. will make overtures to Teleconnect to set new account with them. So thank you everybody for your help. What would I do without this Forum?

18. Living where we are, not far from Ruffec (16), when I left Tiscali, where broadband was not available in our area I switched to Wanadoo, who were the only ISP able to provide this service here, albeit only 512 mb. I must admit it took me nearly a month to get on line with much trauma involved. The monthly fee was Euros 29.95.plus 2 more for the Livebox. But no matter how I tried, I could never use the telephone whilst I was on line.Trying to contact anyone at Wanadoo was almost impossible, even though my French is pretty good. The final nail in the Wanadoo coffin was on my  latest bank statement, I find that they have increased this months' charge to Euros 39.95, without any notification whatsoever. When I happened to see in this satellite section of the Forum, the advert for Teleconnect. I checked on its website if they were operating in my area and it was positive. So then I telephoned them. I was was ansered by someone who spoke impeccable English,(what a relief!) and they confirmed that they could provide me with their service in my area with 6 mb for 29,95, plus many other telephone advantages!. Now I will pose the question! Am I right in believing that, as I have been with Wanadoo for 13 months, I am able to cancel my contract with them if I give them two months' notice?  I would really like confirmation!
19. Thank you Pierre, but as you appear to be in Luxenbourg and I am near Ruffec in the Charente. I dont know how I posted the original message without mentioning my location.  I wouldn't mind travelling a hundred miles radius, but I think you are too far away for me! As far as Ebay is concerned, there is a time factor involved to close any deal and then the freight charges make it a little more complicated!. Four hundred Euros was mentioned, but this is not viable owing to his limited finance. I was hoping someone had bought a new PC and the old one was languishing away in the attic gathering cobwebs! Still I will wait with fingers crossed and hope some kind person will come forward! Game on!
20. I know of a Brit gardener, who has worked for me in the past; legitimate of course with a Siret number, who urgently needs a good working second-hand PC. His present one is suffering from a nasty fall onto a tiled floor and no longer usable. There is not much work for him at this time of the year and cannot afford to buy new, but with another working computer, he would certainly find some extra business, as he has a good web site. If anyone reading this posting has one surplus he wishes to sell, I will arrange to pick it up and pass it on to him. He is a very hard working chap with a wife and three kids to support and his earning capacity is limited by the high taxes that he has to pay to keep in the French system I would appreciate any kind replies! Thank you!
21. Is it a fact that when you put your house on the market, you have to submit a report detailing any and every fault that the house might have, which is available for any potential buyer? Would like to know!
22. Hi Nick, I do know the details of this heater, but if you look them up on Google, all retailers claim this low cost of heating. It appears that there is no elements as such, but they contain 2 to 6 radiant tubes, which you can programme only 2 on, or 4 on, or 6 if you are feeling really reckless! I will pick one up tomorrow on the Outllidge van if they are in stock. Then when have tested it, I will add further comments. Watch this space! Lautrec who came in from the cold! (I hope!)
23. Another option worth looking into. Halogen Heaters, which turn out 1800w heat for only 6-8pence a hour. I am just about to buy one of the Outllige lorry in Ruffec this Saturday for 39 Euros. I will post my observations after the weekend. They sell in the UK a little cheaper!.
