  1. hi everyone, I have a christal pool which is great. Last autumn my pool company was tightening the screws to the ladder they told me that they would need to replace ladder to ground connections within a few years. Now they will not open the pool without the parts being relaced. I have sent parts from the manufactureres as they are down the road from me but the pool company are not happy and do not seem to be able to use these and still the pool is closed. the part seems to be a rubber tube of 50mm diameter Can anyone help me. I have also emailed the company who installed for help. I could email a photo id necessary as I just want these 2 tubed changed so I can open the pool cheers Jon Owen
  2. Dear all, I know this simple subject will have been covered before but please could someone help. Who do I make the cheque for the TV Licence to as the bill does not state this. I would appreciate some help on this Thanks everyone.
  3. Dear deby, I have just read the postings on this and wish you all the luck with your guests. We have a holiday home and they are tomorrow starting the installation of our pool. I know how traurmatic this can be and we are not contemplating renting the house out. We have told our installers all our requirments but will not be back until they are nearly finished so our anxiety levels are high. We have a garden totally enclosed but have purchased the AFNOR certified fencing so we are totally secure. We hope to landscape around the pool after it has been installed but realise that this will take time. If we had to rent we would have to explain to clients and I would hope that they would understand. Anyway I hope that it all goes well for you and your family. redards Tess
  4. Hi Deby The phone number of the fencing place is 0565377964 and ask for Ted. Luckily for me with basic French Ted is English. Hope this helps Tess
  5. Hi Dale I am a mere woman and I have put up light fittings bought in france with the instructions in french(I only have schoolgirl french at the moment but am learning fast!)so it cannot be that difficut!. Regards Tess
  6. Hi Debys, I have also ordered my fencing from Piscne-plus in Gourdon and they have been very efficient so far. It has cost me 33.50 a metre and I consider this a reasonable price for fencing which we will look at 6 weeks of the year. You can have just the fencing if you are not going to rent the house out or you can have a gate at about 360, hubby has the details in France, so not sure of the price. This company have lots of different types at different prices. Hope this helps Tess
  7. Back to your original request We are in 17 and ordered our pool before christmas as for most pools you have to enter into a waiting list that very much depends on the weather. When you order the pool you have a provisional date and if the weather is bad then everyone is shunted back in time so you have to be fairly relaxed about it. Decide what type of pool that you want then get some quotes but chose a company who are registered in France as you will get a very good professional service and hopefully a much better after service. We could have chosen an English team to do the work and got it built much sooner but would not have had the same after service and protection in law as using a French team of professionals. This is something to take into account. Regards Tess
  8. Hi Piscine-plus.com have been very helpful to me and I am in the 17 quite a way from them. They have helped me with very reasonable pool fencing and were recommended to me by my pool installation company. Tess
  9. Hi I always followed the recommended guidelines for painting whether is was inside or outside in England. Then I painted the outside of our cottage in Worcester in quick drying undercoat I was planning to put the topcoat on as soon as I could. Five years later and the undercoat is still on and has weathered as well as the Dulux weathercoat paint that was on the rest of the building. I can only evaluate the paint that I have used but I can only say that you should use paint, whether it be English or French, that you know from your experience covers the surface as you would wish, it is an instinctive thing. Don't necessarily beleive all that you read on the Tin Hope that this helps Tess
  10. Hi Everyone, How much could I expect to pay for about 50 cubic metres of soil removal, I have been quotes upwards of 500 euros depending on the company. Please could anyone advise me Thanks Tess
  11. Hi Deby, We are having a pool installed in the next two weeks and this forum has been very helpful. If you do a search you will find much has been written and somewhere parts of the regulations are posted in french . Prices vary wildly from the very expensive at 5000 euros for an average pool to 1500 euros. The close mesh fencing that everyone seems to be selling can I have noticed be obtained in America for $10 a foot! much cheaper than the 50-80 euros a metre in france I have found a company in England who are selling this fencing at 100 for 5 metres. The expensive companies will tell you it is not as good and does not have a lifetime guarantee.I don't need a lifetime gaurantee and have to teenage boys so this fencing to keep 5 year olds out probably won't last long anyway. I hope that this helps You can find websites where you can buy the fencing and many deliver to France . Regards, Tess
  12. Can anyone recommend a pool maintanence company in the Sainte area 17 as we are having the pool installed in a few weeks and as it is a holiday home I believe I will have to get people to check the water every week. How much is the going rate for this service. Hope someone can help as I am a complete novice on the swimming pool front, I wish there was a course one could do! Regards Tess
  13. I have just been sent a bill which I think is for the rubbish collection. Is this normal as I haven't had one before. Can anyone help on who I make the cheque payable to as it does not appear to say, is it just to the Tresoe Public? I would by grateful for any advice Tess
  14. We are down the road at Geay. Quite near to you Tim17 and Pushkin. Visited the water board at Pont L'Abbe d'Arnoult at Easter, nice town. Holiday home with hubby and two boys 13 and 9.
  15. I have just heard on 5Live that Freeview are going to offer a top-up service to all those who have freeview cards. We are going to be able to purchase extra channels such as UKGold, Discovery, Boomerang and others for a suggested price of 7.50 a month. No sport or films included. Regards, Tess.
