I find it quite odd how many French people give Corsica a hard time. A small proportion of the old wives tales could be justified. But still the amount home/business owners that are French, not to mention the amount French holiday makers that flock here year after year think the opposite. The media has lot to answer for.

Hi, We have a grafted mulberry tree, bearing in mind we are very southerly (Corsica) does anyone know when we should prune the branches? Also we have a large yucca palm with a thick (20-25 cm diameter) which is next to a wall in which cracks are starting to appear.  Should we cut it right down to the base of the trunk or just the main branches (it splits into two)?  Any advice gratefully received. Hi, do you have what we need? A holiday rental from the 23 April to the 30th Area Dordogne, In village or near walking distance to at least one nice restaurant/bars etc Accommodation must have a double bedroom on the ground floor with en suite toilet/shower and must be wheelchair accessible. We also need 2 more double bedrooms (whatever floor), preferably en suite. In general the accommodation must be suitable for the disabled (1 pers). This could be two small gites or one larger house, pool not necessary.  Sky/Canal Sat tv would be a bonus, as would internet access via local isp or local internet cafe. Hi Dave, The cost depends on time of year size of car or if on foot etc. One thing I can tell you, it is expensive to eat on the ferry and food is not very good so pack a picnic. Cheers PC

Hi Miki, You're right, 75% of them don't bring in any bookings, but that's not the point - they all help with our own site ranking (5 out of 10 on Google at the mo  but the best paying one for us is www.holidayrentals.co.uk and the best free on is http://www.allerencorse.com/  And yes, we work hard at it and are constantly looking for new sites which takes a lot of time - but in the winter we are lucky that we have a lot of time on our hands and feel, for us, the effort and tediousness involved is worth it. Hi, Last year we tried to advertise with Chez Nous and were told no ( In a rather off hand fashion I might add )  because we are in Corsica, which as you all know is part of metropolitan France. Now they are starting a Corsican section and, oddly enough, they seem to want my business! Just how effective are they? We have our own site and are on over 100 or so others, some paying but most of them free......if they get the results I don't mind paying, but what is your experience?   Cheers PC

Really . . . . all I'm doing is asking a perfectly reasonable question in a forum aimed at gite owners, who may therefore have had similar experiences. It was just for a bit of fun and to start a lighthearted and, who knows, maybe interesting thread.  It's not as if I was naming names or even intending to make fun of certain individuals (although believe me I could!). Anyway strange requests and questions can be exactly that, they don't have to be derogatory or laughable. But perhaps this isn't possible here . . .
