Hi We test using small kit, which does ph and chorine, very basic. Ph today is 7.6 chlorine down at the moment and is .8. Have been using choc. When you say non stabilised do you mean ordinary chlorine or javel. Sand changed last year. Is this helpful? Thank you for your reply.

Sorry for delay in replying. Husband says the readings are normal for both chlorine and ph. The filter is sand. Pool is about 7 metres by four. Any help?

Our swimming pool will not clear, we have had the filter going for a week now, have added javel and cholorine shock, taken out most of the dead leaves but it is still green. Any suggestions please!!

I have registered to become an auto entrepeneur, to carry out gardening. I have just received a form from Inforegistre asking me for my details, name, address, siret number category, etc. and asking for 143, 52 euros. Is it necessary to fill this form in and send it back with cheque. I thought that as an autoentrepeneur I would not be asked for any money for registration.

We have two kittens who will be 7 months old in October when we need to go back to the UK for a couple of weeks.  Can anyone recommend a cattery in between Perigeuex and Brive ( ish) that they know of? Thank you Lynn

We own a house and a semi converted barn.  Does anyone know the legal issues potential involved in selling the house (which we live in at the moment as our main residence) and some of the land but keeping the barn which we are renovating?  Each building has its own fosse septic. We are French residents and pay tax here, have done for the past 4 years and have owned the property for 6 years.  Any information gratefully received. Lynn

This is our first year as gite owners.  We are using our house for the gite and I am not sure about the insurance.  Is our own building/content insurance sufficient if the house is used by paying guests?  Any advice please.

We would like to insure our camaras and credit cards whilst out and about.  Our house insurance does not cover this and we live here in the Dordogne so obviously do not have travel insurance! How do we go about this?  

We  are about to instal a small woodburning stove in our living room.  Is there a regulation which dictates how far the actual stove has to be from the wall etc?  I know in England that it should be 50cm. 

We have had our house in France since last April, we had an initial water bill for connection etc sent to house in England which we paid, we have not had another one since then.  When should we expect one or should we request a new one?

We are trying to sort our removal firms to help in our move to France and have had reasonable quotes from 'The Transport and Removal Co.' and 'French Country Removals' has anyone used these companies and could they recommend them? Thank you

We are about to sign the final papers and move to a hamlet near Hautefort in the Northern Dordogne. We would be interested to hear from anyone in the area to find out about local happenings and to chat as we get organised. We are popping backwards and forwards for the first year and then next year hope to make the move permanently. This is first attempt at posting so I hope it worked!!
