  1. Hi everyone, We're trying to find the most economical way of relocating to Ireland. Is anyone moving from Ireland to France between now and the end of july and we could share removal costs? (full load 4 bed house contents) I know it doesn't half the costs but it does help, we've done it before!
  2. We really are very flexible, Brittany ferries want £100 as foot passengers for a three day return and as the tickets usually cover a car and up to 4 passengers we thought we could meet at the port and jump in the car for 5 mins to get on the ferry a bit cheaper than that. Can anyone help?? We're in between roscoff and st malo so this end would be better but we can always drive further east.
  3. Hi there, Has anyone got room for a couple of passengers going to the uk over the next couple of weeks? We will of course reimburse you. thanks lyn

  5. Not a conscious decision to leave england, but the furniture was in storage costing us a fortune and we needed somewhere to put it
  6. this is a long shot, but is anyone moving or know of someone moving to france anytime during the month of april or thereabouts, using a removal firm. I have some friends that need their furniture taking to Ireland and we are trying to find the most economical way, using a return journey of a removal company seems like a good idea for both parties if we can co-ordinate it.
  7. .......and it works to, when we left Demark we had a parking fee outstanding, six months later it turned up at the cars registered address in the uk  just to point out we didn't do it on purpose!!
  8. i gave up trying to calm things down and resorted to watching the fallout from the little demo in our place du centre, the one on AI kept me amused for sometime but i have to say this one is winning by a mile at the mo can't decide if thats good or bad, we've had reporters all over the place, tv crews and alot of bemused local people, the best report in a british paper though has to be the one in the guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/france/story/0,11882,1423894,00.html he did look a plonker with his bag but his report makes quite good reading, and now carry on please............
  9. theres people all over the world having problems, only the daily mail didn't find out.. forgive me for being flippant, and us here in Bourbriac don't think we're having problems, only people who didn't see what really went on are getting worried. Have seen a copy of the article in the daily mail today and it makes my blood boil, and i quote ' 100 angry protestors', there were 20 at most and they were very friendly , offered us cider and cake, and calmly put thier point of view across, even gave us a stop speculation poster, they also had quotes from 'the mayor of Bourbriac' who we've never heard of, if our mayor finds out i should think he wouldn't like it, also there are supposed to be 700 english in Bourbriac according to them, more like 70 and thats in the whole canton not the village, they're definitely not here in the village. rant over.......
  10. depends where you are trying to buy in the uk, i've seen ;lots of places that say ' local occupancy restrictions apply' in estate agents in the uk, and its not always your right anywhere to own the house you set your hopes on, the sellers decision is always final. when i sold my last house  i was very careful when choosing what i thought was the right buyer, turns out it wasn't but that's another story maybe thats a practical solution, everyone put on local occupancy restrictions, that'll stop all those 'wealthy second home buyers' i won't hold my breath.....
  11. glad it wasn't long lasting,it could have really serious...... stop press .... as we type a journalist is on his way back from paris to interview some of us bourbriacians, call me cynical but i don't think this will mean a more balanced view of things in tomorrows paper...
  12. just so you can see for yourselves what happened in bourbriac on saturday.... http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=27943&subForumID=47513&action=viewTopic&commentID=2129087&topicPage=

  16. I know this is a long shot but I am DESPARATE, a kitten appeared on our terrace a few days ago and adopted us. Its approx. 12 weeks old and very friendly. Our house is rented out for the next month and I do a lot of travelling so cant give it a permanent home. Its quite happy to live outside, but I relented and let it into the cellar. Can anyone please give it a home, maybe someone who has outdoor cats already because she (I think its a sheJ) does like company, or even better she has no problem coming into the house and curling up on the sofa. We are just outside Guingamp, halfway between St. Malo and Roscoff. If you or someone you know is interested please leave me a message, by the way she is a beautifully marked black and white moggie. Thanks in advance Lyn
