  1. Hi Widnesbob, we gave a friend a Bramley, it come over on the ferry in our van with other plants, we were stopped on the UK side and they looked in the van, said nothing about the plants, and went straight through at Roscoff without stopping. I hope it's growing well, I must ask them, and look forward to an apple pie or two in the future, you should have no problem. Lindylou.
  2. Hi, anyone in 22 know where we can get a nice beam, can they be bought new, I presume these days that most old buildings are awaiting renovation, and not for stripping out, Any ideas please. Lindylou.
  3. Hi, can anyone offer advise, we have two vines about 3m apart both white and look quite old. They both have lots of grape bunches, but one of the vines has a grey sort of mold over the tiny grapes. Can we do anything to it, and will it spread to the other vine, that at the moment is showing no signs of this mold, can either be sprayed or pinch out the bad bunches, any idea's please. Lindylou.
  4. Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a Darty in 22 or within a reasonable drive, say an hour!. It is after reading an old thread about a range type cooker, I think it was Will who mentioned it, . Lindylou.
  5. Hi, our pride and joy that we have just bought in Brittany, has an old rusty post box in thedrive. We would prefer to replace this with something a bit better, not so much ornate, but no dents or rust. Can anyone tell me if they have to be a regulation size, height, or distance from the house, don't want the postie annoyed. Lindylou.
  6. Hi, can anyone offer advice, as I'm new to veggie gardening, I would like to know about potatoes. I have some main crop!, can they still go in over the the next 2-3 weeks, as we are moving in a bit at a time and to dig a patch over is not very high on my list of priorities. I presume earlies are just that, and main crop are mid way, right or wrong, any idea please. Lindylou.
  7. Hi, I've just had my elec set up by the immobilier with EDF after signing last week, have arrived back home to find a bill for 75euro's, I did post elsewhere but had no reply, can anyone tell me what it's for. Is it just to set up, or do they require an amount in the kitty to start with. We intend to set up a DD and have a rib number, but when it's taken out of the bank, I presume you get a bill to tell you your usage, any info will be helpfull, just to get us going, similar for water, but I understand there are lots of companies, so they would have differant requirements! yes? Thanks for any help. Lindylou.
  8. Hi, this will be our first summer in Brittany and hope to make a lot of use of the garden, but is there a time of year that has a problem with insects. In the uk we have what we call horse flys, I think it's around May/June time, when you cut grass around the tree's you get quite a few bites, Our new garden has a lot of trees along one side, would we get something similar or are there worse things to come. Lindylou.
  9. Well, the deed is done, went down to the bank yesterday and had the whole amount transferred, now I've got to stop watching the rates as this could drive you insane. Time now to worry about all the other things that go with it, will I ever get to sit in that garden and think it was all worth it. Lindylou.
  10. Oh dear!, you need nerves of steel watching the euro v pound. I still havn't converted the money for our house purchase, but the time I,ve been watching it,s made a difference of 2,000 against us, that goes a long way towards removals. Can things like a terrorist attack realy make a change, as I said before, I know nothing of the financial world, any advice?, hang on in there, or change it now before more damage is done. Lindylou.
  11. hi does anyone know if fishing is allowed on lac du Guerladon in Brittany. Found some web sites but they seem to mention other water sports not fishing. We are buying a house near there, and a friend is mad on fishing, thats all he's interested in, not what the house is like. Any info appreciated. lindylou.
  12. Hi, we have just signed for a house in 22 , we used Sue Wright a lovely english lady who we went out with for a couple of days. She uses 3 agents where you can go through their books with her. The agent we bought through were also very helpfull and our dealings with her up to now have been good. If you e-mail me I will give you both websites, if I post them they will probably be removed. Lindylou.
