Hello Jackie Yes, I have done it. Our place wasn't ready to let until mid June this year, so decided to put it on ebay (in mid June) to see if we could get at least a couple of bookings this year. We sold the whole of August and could have sold the first couple of weeks twice over! Did it as a Buy It Now per week. We are looking for a caretaker(s) for a two bedroomed house in the Charente from mid April. It may suit someone on a house hunting/buying trip or as somewhere to live if your house is being renovated. You will need to be there so that the property isn't left unoccupied. Hello Has anyone got any space to store a couple of items of furniture (3 seater sofa, sideboard) for a while? They are with friends at the moment but who now need to move them due to decoration/renovation work. This is in the Champagne Mouton (16) area. Thanks in anticipation Linda

Just to clarify things a bit (don't know why I should, but ..). This property is the only one we own. We don't own a house in England. Obviously the locals don't know this and like Turnip assume we must have money to afford both (if only). You really shouldn't go through life making assumptions based on what little you know Turnip. A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing! The property had been empty for many years before we bought it and the seller is is very much in favour of our plans for it. Needless to say none of the stolen items have turned up and it does make you wonder if they were British burglars as they took the teapot and left the cafetiere! Have a nice day Linda

We got the dreaded phone call last weekend to say our place in Verteuil (Dept 16 near Ruffec) had been broken in to. Loads of stuff was taken. If anyone is going to a vide grenier in the near future and fancies playing detective looking out for items that they may try to sell, then I can email you a list of some of the more recognisable items with photos. Have got over being sad and am now hopping mad! I would love to think that these b-----ds could be caught. I know it's a long shot but .... Hope it doesn't happen to anyone else Linda

Can anyone who advertises their gite on the French Connections site let me know how they find it please. ie. number of bookings through them, is the cost reasonable, how long have you been with them etc I am looking at where we might advertise our properties for next year and would appreciate any feedback or recommendations for advertising in specific publications. Info please: Do FT charge per pole to install a phone line? If so how much? How long is it likely to take them? We won't need it until July/August so was just wondering if I will have to give them loads of notice. Thanks in advance
