1. Exactly the same as any other  car from a European country, check the FAQ and search engine.
2. "Didn't realise that macerator waste could mix with other grey water. Is that only for newer fosses of a particular type?" Thunderhorse I think your answer was in the question. "As a first for me I will shortly be fitting one of these in a town house on mains drainage"[:D]
3. I am pleased you got your refund, maybe you can come with me, the next time I have to return a faulty item[:D]
4. Hi It's not a difficult job to do, having another person on hand  for hanging the plasterboard helps[:)] There was a recent thread on this a short time ago, here is a link to a video on how to do it, that I posted, you will need a broadband connection to view it. http://tinyurl.com/292o66
5. You may find this site useful for names of car parts and things mechanically related  English/French http://the.burgund.chez-alice.fr/trad_cadre.htm
6.
Thanks, the most helpful answer yet. The 'Notaires de France' website is helpful, but even there it talks about seven days from the receipt of the contract, but for the life of my I cannot work out whether they mean receipt by the purchaser or by the notaire!!
Edit: Chrisb is correct, I have edited out the duff info[:$] From the notaires website in english. Cooling-off period A cooling-off period is allowed when the preliminary contract must be established as the authentic deed. The contract must not be immediately signed by the parties. The notary must send the deed to the purchaser which has seven days period to think and indicate if he gives up the purchase.
7. "so I am returning it to Auchan" If you manage to get a refund will you let us know?[:D].
8. It maybe easier for you in english: http://www.notaires.fr/notaires/notaires.nsf/V_TC_PUB/ENGLISH-HOMEPAGE then at the bottom of the page click on  "Traps to avoid with the preliminary contract"
9. I still can't see any point in applying for a une carte de séjour CE - séjour permanent. I have seen nothing yet that says you will be entitled to continue (or join) CPAM,  with it, only that you can stay in France  without proving your resources and not having to obtain private health care. I know that also, you must be treated exactly the same as a French national but are they entitled to join CPAM as an inactif? You can also write to: http://www.mediateur-republique.fr/
10. You can make a start on this link: http://tinyurl.com/yunckj Also you can write to: M. le Conciliateur at your local CPAM
11. I found this advert in the Eymetguide you could try him. DJ TRANCEMISSION style (uplifting) Trance, available for all your private parties, call 0553739569 or e-mail [email protected]
12. "We have been planning a move to France for sometime now but are certainly very concerned about not being able to join the health care system ( conflicting advice about accessing health care as self employed people)" If you are properly registered in France as self employed I can't see any problems in joining the French health system. Once you register it will happen automatically.
13. Maybe this quote on page 3 was the one intended.
14.
Isn't there a way of paying such fines on-line? I'm sure that there have been references on this forum in the past to being able to do so ...
Regards Pickles I think you will find that method of payment is only for fines issued automatically, auto/radars etc.
15. Maybe they will make it tougher to empty.[:D]
16. "Should some keen French policeman decide to make a list of all these UK plated cars found in airports or where ever....and then contact the DVLA by the web site and pass the list on". I don't think you should rely on the information on the DVLA site. I checked my car details on there 12/18 months ago and it showed vehicle exported and now it comes up as unlicenced.[8-)]
17.
So do I just presume its paid for (as we are up to date with our tax d'H )????
Why not have a look on your TDH bill?[:)]
18. One of the arguements for keeping the road tax in the UK is that you have to produce an MOT and insurance to get it, so the inference is, without road tax you may not have one or both of the others. As Coops had said this has failings as insurance can be a cover note and valid only for one day longer You could also have an Mot certificate with 1 day remaining, it's still valid to get a road tax renewal.
19.

why no prosecutions for no insurance if no Road Tax?
Whilst not having done so since we moved out here last year, I always used to read the Court Round-up in our local rag (Portsmouth Evening News).  Whenever there was a prosecution for No Road Fund Licence, there was ALWAYS the additional prosecution for Driving Without Valid Insurance.
Maybe it's because they didn't have any Insurance as well as no road tax.[:)]
20. I signed up online with Orange, two days later they phoned me to say the line was now OK for broadband and two more days and the Livebox arrived, good service that time. However I had waited 3 months for the telephone line to be connected.
21. This is a normal occurrence particularly in older houses, there is no nest as such, just hundreds of flies hibernating probably in the loft, several times during the hibernation the weather will warm up sufficiently for the flies to think summer has arrived and try to get out, if you have any gaps around beams or windows etc. no matter how small that will show some light into the loft they will try to get through. Try and seal all such entry points and force them to go outside the way they came in You may be able to buy a type of smoke bomb that will kill the dormant flies, but I believe the best way is to prevent entry into the rooms by sealing all gaps.
22.
Hi Habitation tax is generated by your tax return, also includes your TV licence fee, just received ours a few days ago
I don't think that is right, otherwise all non residents for tax purposes would never get theirs[:D]. It just comes along following the normal  buying a property process, sometimes it can take a while for it to filter through the system.
23. As Anton said you can get larger sheets of plasterboard, you may also be interested in this how to do it video. http://tinyurl.com/292o66 Some more how to do it videos here. http://www.netprof.fr/
24. I think the poster is talking about bodywork stone chips and repaired in the UK by people like "Chips Away" for one, you could always try the major car sales outlets and see if they have an equivalent.
25. I dont know about the UK stores but you may be able to get one on this link and I think that they will deliver to France. http://www.uk-satellite-tv.co.uk/digiboxshop_59489_cat25992.html
