1. Does this offer only apply F/UK or is it available UK/F?. I have tried the LD site this morning but it appears to be down at the moment. It would appear that the £32 each way offer only runs to Feb 28. I arrived at this conclussion by trying  Feb 28 (£32) and March 1 (£100). A
2. Sounds Good !!!!! But, isn't there always a "but", is this fare for a 3day return or for a longer stay in France? It is a good deal for a quick trip . A
3. I haven't missed the point at all. I would never sign a contract without professional advise acting in my interest with no commitment to the other party. That is what I am saying. When we bought our house in France we engaged a notaire to do just that and he raised several issues which were totally relevant to the conveyancing of the property which had not been brought to our attention by the appointed notaire. Further it dos not cost anything. View it as a free, independent second opinion and then you will appreciate the wisdom in having a notaire to represent you. Will a notaire investigate issues relating to title to the property? I am not sure what the answer is to that question but it is very relevant. As far as experience is concerned I have had more than average experience in trading in properties, both residential and commercial. This is only a part of my business interests. At the moment I am selling one residential property and also a business. I am not trying to score points, I don't need to. I leave that to others. The next time you read or hear about a notaire or solicitor making a cock up I do hope you will concede that there could possibly be some foundation in what I say. A
4. Might I suggest that it is advisable to engage the services of a lawyer conversant with French property and inheritance law in order to protect your interests. Whether it is normal practise in France is totaly irrelevant. The relationship of Brain Surgeons/Plumbers rather illudes me. I can recommend someone  suitable , send me an email if your require such information. A
5. W Thanks for information, ldlines still not accessible but the second address worked fine. A
6. Two interesting experiences with LD Line. I would imagine that they are out to impress and it is nice to see that they appear to have an eye to customer service. Long may it continue. However, I have tried to book online from the UK with no success. Their site appears to be off line as far a bookings are concerned. I need to make a reservation in the next couple of days. Any suggestions? A
7.
In conclusion why do some contributors feel that their opinions are so important that they must convey them to others even, as I have said, they do not know what they are talking about. Interesting ...
Wrong SB I do not and never have professed to know everything, it's just that I have been around the cycling scene for a good many years and I do know quite a bit about the sport. What's your knowledge of cycle sport. Not a lot I suspect. If this should be the case just "button it" and listen to someone who has won a few races. How many have you won? A
8. Having read the various comments regarding the TdeF it becomes fairly obvious that most of the contributors haven't a clue what they are talking about. My first experience of le Tour was in the early 60s and my latest was last week. It's all about atmosphere and passion for the sport, things Brits just don't understand. Why go to the theatre or a football/cricket match. In fact why travel, all of these experiences can be had through the medium of television. You do these for the experience. If YOU don't understand this why not accept the fact that you have a certain intellectual shortcoming. Why is it that 600/750 THOUSAND people were on the first stage and between 20 and 30 MILLION people see the Tour live each year. Not my figures but figures gleaned from the media over the years. The Tour de France is more than a sporting event, it is a part of French culture. In conclusion why do some contributors feel that their opinions are so important that they must convey them to others even, as I have said, they do not know what they are talking about.   A
9. Interesting. As a P & O shareholder I find some of the comments on the save the ferries site rather offensive. Somebody should study the share price trends a bit more. The only way to save the service is to encourage more people to use it. Will going on strike next week help to that end. I think not. I am booked to travel Cherboug/ Le Havre on Tuesday April 19th. "workers of the world" permitting. Many years ago I worked for a guy who frequently used the expression "The world owes nobody a living". This might not please some people but the fact is it is true. As I write this I am about 5 mile away from the MG Rover plant at Longbridge. Need I say more? Finally between now and the end of August I have 7 return crossings booked, 5 are on this route with P & O and the other 2 are with BF. If any of the "Loony Left" object I can always fly Birmingham/Jersey then to Granville and hire a car. How will that help the P & O cause ? Finally, yes I do want to see the Cherbourg/Le Havre service survive.   A
10. Re Mountboard Wessex  have a framing materials outlet in either Caen or Bayeux and Lion are near Paris. Suggest you have a look at their web sites for further information. For mouldings, Wessex and also Neilsons supply chops which would be a good means of obtaining what you require If you are a professional you will know Wessex, Lion and what I mean by chops. The best mountboards are Crescent or Bainbridge. Hope that this is of use.
