  1. Hi We are moving to the Creuse(La Souterraine) next Saturday, but are unable to move into our farm as the lady selling won't move her stuff out for a couple of weeks(aaaargh). As you can all image STRESS is taking over, does anyone know any caravan shops about or anyone with a caravan to sell min 5 betrh as there are a lot of us(5 kids three dogs and 3 horses). We are hoping to park it in the farmyard so that the sight of our kids looking homeless and asking her lots of questions will encouarage her to move out sooner rather than later. Thanks Graham
  2. Hi We have a Panasonic all in one phone, fax, answer machine that we had to buy recently. Will this work in France as it seems a waste to leave it behind and buy a new one. Thanks again Graham

  5. Hi So apple trees seem fine, but does anyone know of any restrictions on any other plants. We are moving over from Scotland in Sept and have loads of lovely plants inside and out, eg a couple of Bay trees. Does anyone know if there are any rules or regs on this and if so what are they and where can we find out about them. Many thanks for any help or advice Paula
  6. How much or little does a top up card cost in france, if you just have it for emergency's it would be nice not to have to use up to much just so you don't lose it. Graham
  7. How hard or easy is it to get from Charles De Gaulle to other stations etc in Paris, particulary Gare Austerlitz as trying to get the kids down at xmax is proving rather expensive. We find that the train down to Limoge quite is cheap and more fun. Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated, thanks again Graham
  8. Hi Mark and Suzy We are moving to a farm near La Souterraine(Bellac side) in mid September and our 3yr old is determined that we are to have lots of ducks and hens, Geese would be good to, as we will miss the 65,000 wintering geese that we have where we live now. If this is of any help please let us know. They would be in good hands as we have kept plenty of poultry before. The farm has plenty water, space, buildings etc, and I'm sure that they would get on fine with 90 cows, 3 horses and 3 dogs. Hope to hear from you soon Graham,Paula(vet)and Fergus(3)
  9. Can you walk into a mobile phone shop in France and just buy one as you can in this country and if not what do you need. We are going over in the next couple of weeks to sign a few bits and pieces and were wondering if we could pick up a mobile while there, as the calls back through vodaphone are very expensive. thanks Graham
  10. Any one used this route and if so how good, bad, or ugly is it, comments tips would be much appreciated. We will be moving over in late Aug with the dogs and kids and coming from Scotland this seemed a good option, as it is only around 6hrs drive from Zeebrugge to La Creuse. Any handy stop of points for feeding and watering the dogs and kids would also be helpful Thanks Graham
  11. Hi We are moving to near La Souterraine in August and were wondering if anyone had any info or even kids in schools in St Maurice(3km) or La Souterraine(7km), our kids are 11,7 and 3. Any hints or comments would be much appreciated Graham
  12. we are attending a 2 week introductory course in agriculture from the 3rd to the 15th May. This is in Limoge and we are looking to take our three children(3,7 and 10) with us and were wondering if any one out there would be able to help us out with accomadation and or child care for the 2 weeks. We were wondering if there was anywhere that they could get a taste of the french language or even someone who would be willing to look after them(they are really quite nice) from about 8am to 5pm. If anyone has any ideas or contacts it would be much appreciated, thanks Graham
  13. we have been looking for a farm in southern france for about a year now. Does anyone know of any for sale, either a neighbour or an agent who might have some on their books. We would like at least 80ha, suckler cows(not dairy), sheep, arable or a mixture of these would be preferable. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. thanks again Graham
