1.  how many gites.. you would need at least 4 2to3 bed gites or probly 6 1 bed gites to scrape a living. renting 6 months of the yr, in your dreams. if you want gites unless you are a cash buyer i doubt you would be able to earn enough to pay a mortage and live. just have a look at the fpn site and see how many gite complexes are for sale, i just had a quick look and counted 15, and i know some of them have been for sale for ages. why are they selling. the running costs of gites is more than you would expect, tax d'habitation and foncier on each property.   unless you are a competant d.i.y.er it will eat into your profits when things like water heaters go wrong or septic tanks are blocked etc. brittany is saturated with gites and plus is no longer a cheap holiday destination with the very high ferry prices. what i think would be a good idea and from seeing in older fpn articles is that house parties seem to go well. its cheaper to set up a B&B, running costs are lower. cheaper to buy at the outset. you could even have a little toilet block in the garden for the george michaels. if you really do want gites i would recommend you get one thats already up a running that way you are open for business straight away. plus converting barns into gites cost a fortune. 2. I've just been on FC and did a search for periods i'm available on. the result was that no properties are available. i have informed fc so hopefully this will get sorted. I'm not to keen on their new format and agree with your comments of the sat to sat searches. i have found that the service from fc has over the last yr or so become very slow.
3. as far as i'm aware gites and B & B don't pay tax professionelle
4. try http://www.siromer.co.uk/  they sell great small tractors new at good prices
5.
Heaven forbid that it should happen to anyone, but if a drowning incident occured at your pool and you had one of these non NF alarms fitted, you would be liable to prosecution . The law says that the...
i agree BJSLIV, which is why i have an alarm that conforms, its just that these MGI alarms that conform are crapp and i don't trust it at all. Thats why I'm looking at an infared perimiter alarm in addition to my fence that doesn't conform. And i won't be buying one that conforms as they have bumped up the price just cos it says NF on the box.
6. I think its normal, you will find it does it between the bottom of the pool and sides too. It may as time goes on squeeze into to the angle over time. What was the temperature when the liner was was fitted and filled with water, it should have been at least 20deg minimum
7. i pay about 110 euro a yr for my tractor which covers it for everything you would get with car insurance. how much are you paying for your second hand tractor, we got ours new from the UK cheaper than what we would have paid for an old french one thats had several hundred thousand hrs of usage. try   http://www.siromer.demon.co.uk/  thats where we got ours they hve a great service and backup should you need it, you wouldn't believe the things i've done with ours.   mike
8. i doubt it, it would be just like the MGI alarm self install. weather or not the german one will be any better than the MGI I don't know, i have the MGI one which is rubbish, but a cheaper way of conforming than an overpriced fence which from what i've heard are also not very effective and cheaper than a cover which i think cannot offer 24hr protection unless of course its covering the pool 24/7 my pool is fenced with non conforming fencing and I'm now looking at a non conforming perimiter alarm as they are much cheaper and probly just as good or better than the conforming ones
9. I too don't think the airbag is practicle but their alarm seems to better than the MGI one, did you look at http://www.pool-alarm.com/product.htm there is more info on the alarm here. and i agree the translation isn't too good in parts, maybe the person who did it thought his or her english was better than it actually is, or he used the translater on AOL if anyone wants to know more about pool security and the new laws and the apparent pool hygene laws that have been about since the 80s but are now only just being enforced in certain depts go to    http://www.over2france.com/3m/index.htm there has been a big debate on this
10. http://www.sun-power-it.com/prevent.htm  have a lazer perimiter alarm for about 6ooeuro. its not NF approved though don't bother even concidering the aqausensor alarms, they are utter rubbish and are far better at detecting wind and rain than kids falling in water. the NF mark means diddly other than it garanteeing french companies like the one that makes the aquasensor has a captive market. there are far better products available and far cheaper that don't have the NF mark but do have the CE mark and actually work properly. you could try http://www.pool-alarm.com/  they will be selling their own alarm called aqausensor but its nothing to do with the French one made by MGI. This one is German and is cheaper and also covers a pool up to 70ft long and doesn't need any complicated setting up like the MGI one, its also NF APPROVED
11. www.Waterair.fr will be selling all the security products needed that conform. At present they are having a lazer system approved that will eliminate the need of a fence, they are also having some alarms tested to meet the norm. After speaking with someone from Waterair they are in the opinion that a fence is not the best form of security. All their safety products will be available in the Spring mike

13. Hi, we have been advertising with them for a few years and find them very good value and the results have always been great so go for it. However this yr we don't seem to be getting any enquiries at all, i've emailed myself from their site as if I'm a propective guest and i don't get the email. i've contacted them about this and they say its because AOL being over zealous at trying to get rid of spam. I've contacted AOL and they say its not true and there is no reason I shouldn't get the emails, has anyone else had the same problem, I've mailed myself about 15 times today and got nothing. If anyone else advertises with them try sending yourself an email to see if you get it and send me one too. I'm property 3484 good luck. mike
