  1. Hello, I have just received the prices from them:  1 bedroom/2 persons €240 2 bedrooms/4 persons €345 3 bedrooms/6 persons €530 4 bedrooms/8 persons €695 5 bedrooms/10 persons €845 6 bedrooms/12 persons €985 7 bedrooms/14 persons (with a suite) €1150   They don't publish until Feb 2009 next so I have plenty of time to consider it.  We are receiving a promising amount of bookings from our own site, which we too try to maintain frequently, and yes a lot of time boosting google ratings in the winter! Back tio the chalkboard!
  2. Hi Jo, I did email them to which they replied fairly quickly pointing me to the owner's page to see the costs.  In fact the owner's page tells you why they charge and how to pay but not the amount, so I have emailed them once again about 10 days ago and i still await their response.
  3. Hello everyone, As the season has slowed down to a very small trickle I was hoping to pick your nrains on where you advertise.  Does anyone advertise with Alistair Sawdays? Have you found them any good, and does anyone know the entry fee (if accepted of course).  Also I am currently torn between Gites de France and Clevacances, I am situated in the Cantal department in the Auvergne and have very little to compare them with as it a region relatively new to tourism.  Any feedback on advertising for 2007 would be great. 4. Hello, I just wanted to say thanks for all your help and advice.  We have since contacted various churches around France, however, as it is now approaching 2 weeks till we get married, all were unable to help.  So we have since contacted our community priest again and he has agreed to bless our marriage for us as we really have no other option.  So we will now be having a service with all our friends and family on our wedding day, we are both really happy. Thanks again. Amelia
  5. Thanks lindylou, I have had a look and the closest seems to be Lyon, still a 3 hr drive from us.  I will telephone them this afternoon to see if they have any recommendations. Thank you for taking the time to help me. amelia
  6. Hi There, I am currently in the final stages of planning my wedding which will take place on the 2nd of June (3 weeks on Saturday!).  I'm not sure about boutonnieres being tradition, as long as you don't use crysanthemums (funeral flowers) they would be a lovely touch. The way I feel about our wedding is that it is a mix of English and French traditions, therefore if you would have had them in the UK then why not in France.  Have you thought about a Croquembouch for your wedding cake?  It is traditional for all your friends and family to perform sketches during the wedding breakfast to illustrate various things to do with the bride and groom.  The bride and groom also toast out of a 2-handled cup to celebrate their unity, getting married under a canopy as well to protect your marriage.  Sugared almonds for favours.  There are plenty if you search the web.  We have decided to have a big mixture - a croquembouch and a traditional wedding cake. All I need now is to find a vicar! amelia
  7. I am posting this in a desperate search to find an Anglican Minister who is willing to bless our marriage on the 2nd of June this year.  Myself and my fiance live in a small village called Marchal in the Cantal department, just near the crossroads of Puy de Dome and Correze.  As we live in a predominantly Catholic area we are struggling to find an Anglican Minister who will perform a marriage blessing for us after our civil ceremony.  We have contacted our Cure to see if he would be willing to give us a Benediction, however, he has refused but very kindly offered us the Church in our village to use should we be able to find an Anglican Minister.  We have followed up many leads on Churches and our closest is an American church in Clermont Ferrand, but after waiting for a response we have been informed that the minister will be out of town on the 2nd of June and therefore unable to help.  If anyone knows anyone or has any information for us we would be extremely grateful.  It really would mean a lot for us to have our marriage blessed in church. Thank you for your time. Amelia

  9. Hi, Myself and my fiance run a B&B in the Cantal department of the Auvergne.  I offer evening meals on a daily basis and always enquire as to whether my guests have any dietary requirements or absolute dislikes.  I therefore do come across several vegetarian requests.  I have an absolute love of food and an even bigger desire to please people with the food I produce, I therefore have a love of inventive menus be they for vegetarians or those who eat everything.  I would love to be involved in your search for vegetarian b&bs simply because the vegetarians who have stayed with me have told of such boring meals they regularly get in France, mainly omelette or avocado salad! If you would like to look at our website, please visit www.la-fromental.com Amelia
  10. Thanks, I'll have a look at that.  I'm currently organising my wedding and we are looking for places for decorations and favours etc as well.  We wanted to go for a blend of French and English to please both sets of guests so didn't just want to buy from UK.  Site looks good as it has a marriage book on the first page.  Thanks. If anyone has any ideas for a typical French wedding I would love to hear them.
  11. Hi, We have a small B&B situated in cantal, between the Puy de Sancy (Puy de Dome) and the Plomb de Cantal.  We are 25 mins from Super Besse and and about 30mins from Mauriac.  Please have a look at our website www.la-fromental.com if you are interested.  Thanks.
  12. Can anyone tell me if there are any craft suppliers for dried flowers, soap making supplies christmas crafts etc, online or preferably a shop.  I live near Clermont Ferrand and I am willing to travel.  What would they be listed as in France? Cheers Daisy-May
  13. Just to let you know my parcel arrived yesterday, 2 days short from 3 weeks after posting.  As far as I can tell it hasn't been round the houses or opened by the customs.  Oh well, these things happen.  By the way Royal Mail will not chase a late delivery until 20 working days after it was posted.
  14. Does anyone know where to start chasing a lost parcel, is it Royal Mail or La Poste?????  Anyone have any useful ideas I would be grateful as the parcel still has not come.  Even our post lady thinks it's a bit late now, but does she know who to enquire to - NO. Daisy
  15. Hi, Thanks for all your responses, the parcel still has not arrived.  It's always difficult to know whether a letter is just lost or taking a different route.  I would hope that if there was a problem they might consider contacting the recipient or the return address - maybe thats wishful thinking.  We're giving it until wednesday then we're off to see the chemist in our village to see if they can help. cheers, Daisy
