  1. We went to India a couple of year ago and got our visa through an agency in the UK. It went through the same company as it would have done if we had applied via Paris and cost a lot less. It only took a few couple days.
  2. Has anyone any idea of what the tax situation would be due in this situation.

We have been French residents for nearly 9 years and now have our house on the market for a move back to the UK. We have not managed to sell so we might move back to the UK and take up residence in our flat there and leave our house here on the market.

Would the house be taxed as a 'maison secondaire' or would the capital gain (hopefully there will be one!) be taxed more favourably?

  3. I don't think you can decide that you arrived on the 3rd May 'for tax purpose's'. The day you set foot in France with the intention of becoming resident is the day you are liable for French Tax.

My tax office (I know they all seem to have their own rules) only took into account the part of the first year we lived here and that was a face to face declaration.

    Best of luck.
  4. We have a Leaseback property that has worked well for us but due to a change of our situation we would like to sell it.

Has anyone any experience of selling a leaseback and if so how did they go about it?

    With thanks

  5. When we first received our bill for contributions sociales in 2004 we held an E106 and queried our local tax off ice if they should be paid and were told they should. We then paid them again in 2005. For 2006 the E106 ran out so I expect to pay the CS again. For 2007 we are on an E121 and expect to pay CS .

I now read on a property web site that contributions sociales should not be charged to holders of E106's and E121. Does anyone know what is correct?

PS Sorry if this has been covered before but I could not find anything

  6. I am about to lay mosaic tiles (the glass variety) on the floor of a shower room. Would anyone know the right method for laying the tile cement ie 5mm V knotch, 6mm U, flat etc.

  7. Thank you all very much for your replies.

I have seen two versions of the system, one in Mr Bricolage that was called SUP.E.R. Tub and fitted with a insert into the tube tightened with an allen key. The other in Bricomarche appears to be tightened by two nuts tightening against one another compressing an olive (I think). Is that whats meant by a sliding collar?  As I dont have very long runs, pipe cost is not such an important issue, just what one works best.

    Thanks again

  8. When using PER pipes what are the gaines for? Is it to protect the pipe if you bury it in a wall?

Anyone had any problems with PER. For the job I'm doing it seems ideal as it won't be seen and there will be the minimum of joints.

  9. I am installing a new water heater that will supply 2 shower rooms each with a wash basin and WC. Is there any order to run the hot and cold supplies ie do I pick up the cold for the heater near the mains? do I take the cold supply for the shower rooms after the supply to the water heater?  etc

I intend to take the hot supplies to the showerooms from a 4 branch supply just after the water heater. The hot runs are quite short.

Hope this makes sense and any comments appreciated.

    regards

  10. Dees anyone know the approxiamate amount of water that is needed for a shower? I realise all showers aren't equal but I'am trying to work out what size chauffe-eau I need for 2 shower rooms each with hand basin being used by 2 people ie 4 showers a day plus hand basin use.

Also I intent to use PER for the installation, is there a fact sheet available on the internet?

    With thanks

    Keith
