    Doggy poop bags!!

Thanks to all those who have replied. I managed to find some today at Animal & Co, they were 2.10 Euros for 24, made by ferplast We go to La Palmyre quite often and by the promenade there is a dispenser unfortunately there is never anything in it!! I also went to Cognac the other day and took 3 of the paper ones!! aj
  2. Hi, Does anyone know where you can buy them? I have looked in Hypermarkets in the animal food isle and also around the plastic bag isles, bot no joy. aj
  3. Thanks Clair, I'll go to Leclerc this afternoon. aj
  4. I am looking to get a French mobile and am thinking of going on a contract. With pay as you go there seems to be so many problems with the expiry time. I have a leaflet on Tele2 which offers 30mins for 12.50Euros per month. Has anybody any experience of them, or can anybody recommend another? aj
  5. If it's any help, there's an English speaking one at Aulnay. aj

    No health cover

Thanks Cooperlola for your posting of the 13/2......my friend phoned CLEISS and was told to send an e-mail to their legal dept. To date she hasn't had a reply but I expect they have a mountain of work!! In the meantime she phoned the English speaking help-line who confirmed that she could join CPAM. They sent her very promptly some more forms and suggested she sent everything to La Rochelle. As she didn't want to post Birth or Marriage certs we went over there yesterday. The main office which she had the address to send things to wouldn't help and suggested we went to 1 of 3 CPAM offices. We picked the one in the City centre and found a very helpfuly young lady. Initially she said that we had to go to Saintes but when we explained the reception that we had had there she agreed to deal with it for us. The outcome is that all forms completed and all copies of paperwork taken. We were advised that she should receive an Attestation in 3 weeks!!......and for a bonus she told us that she would be able to claim for the medical expenses that she had paid since her E106 expired. We'll see what happens. aj

    No health cover

My friends went to CPAM in Saintes today (their Carte Vitales had already been taken from them) armed with an application form to join CMU. letter in French from the French Health Minister and all the other paperwork. She is a Type 2 diabetic and can't get PHI but they were told that they can't join CMU until April and they were illegal here!! Their E106's expired in December. They asked for a letter of refusal but this was declined as they confirmed that they could join in April!!(but no written confirmation!!) Am wondering if it is worth a trip to CPAM in La Rochelle, the main one for the Charente Maritime.......Can they refuse her in the circumstances?? aj
  9. Thank-you Christine for the information. aj
  10. Hi Christine, Have pm'd you aj
  11. Thank-you Deimos & JSA, I will have a word with the breeder. aj
  12. Thanks for the replies, I am NOT looking to breed. We are looking for a small dog and have searched refuge places and they only have large ones!! I have friends who have dogs from a refuge and have no problems with them. To all these people who are commenting about me intended actions: If   you know where there is a dog the size of a Westie/Cairn in the Charente Maritime in a refuge PLEASE let me know. aj
  13. Can somebody please tell if you buy a puppy do they normally come micro-chipped and having had their first set of injections?? Also, if there are any breeders out there, how often due you normally let a bitch have a litter? aj
  14. Loads of good advice has been given. Just don't forget there are far more speed cameras in the UK than in France, like one round every corner!! aj
  15. I've been searching for a chunky cardigan but have given up and decided to knit my own.I haven't done any knitting for years but have found that I brought needles and some patterns with me when we moved here. Trouble is what is equivalent to 'double knitting wool' ? aj
  16. Thanks SD.  I will have a look at our Tax Forms, this didn't apply for the previous 2 years as we had been paying into the French Health system. As you say it won't amount to much although I did have some other pensions cut in when I was 60 but I will be prepared for next year!! aj
  17. Thanks for the info SD. I was issued with an E121 in May last year, would the exemption on CRDS apply to me for the CS bill I have just received for 2006? aj
  18. I know somebody who has a Mazda Premacy MPV for sale. It's an automatic, 2.0 petrol, french registered LHD, has 60,0000 approx km and 4 years old. The person who owns it is returning to the UK for good at the end of next week. To the best of my knowledge it is still for sale. aj
  19. Hoorah!!...re my posting of the 24/5....Guess what, he turned up. Four of them did a very good job on the roof in four days. It just shows that if they are any good, they are busy and you just have to wait for them. At least we will be OK for the winter. He was recommended by a local, our neighbour, and we had seen his work. He came a few days later with his facture and we gave him a cheque there and then even though it hadn't rained and therefore we hadn't been able to check if everything was waterproof . It has now rained and everything is OK. We have now asked him for a devi for a new fosse and 2 new windows.....I wonder how long we will have to wait, not only for devi but the work. aj PS . Forgot to mention, the deposit cheque that we had given him in March he finally presented 1 week before he commenced the work.
  20. Andy 57 Sorry, but disagree about joining flexible liner.......The Expert from our insurance Company in France and the artisan's insurance Company said it had to be in one piece. Out of interest how would you join it?? aj
  21. The liners are they solid or flexible???  The flexible shouldn't be joined. We had an insert installed by a local artisan who joined a metre from the top with tape (unknown to us at the time). Having had the chimney swept a couple of times the inox seperated, luckily nothing caught fire. We contacted the installer who said it could only be replaced at our cost. We then got in touch with our insurance company and had an Expert come and inspect it, together with the installer and a representative from his insurance company. To cut a very long story short, he has got to replace it. Unfortunately for us it's not just a case of replacing the inox. We had a new chimney breast fitted with vent pipes after he had initially done the work and this all has to be demolished to fit a new inox because of the security zone at the top. If you have a chimney breast that the tube passes through this should be fitted with a special fireproof liner. Price.....it depends if the liners are solid or flexible and obviously the length. If any are like ours with a chimney breast, the fireproof  liner is expensive. The installer I have referred to is trying to claim 2800 Euros from his insurance company, we have actually been given a price by somebody else of 1700 Euros. aj
