  1. Well, that was so good it posted twice [8-)] So pretty please will one of the milk monitors delete this as apparently my time for deleting expired within about 5 seconds of posting [:-))]
  2. Thank you for all your kind words folks. We were very lucky to end up in this village and to be accepted so readily. Hopefully we can manage the same in our new place, but we are renting and not too sure how long we will be there? A year at least. It's going to be good fun driving a French registered car for a few weeks until our new C4 is ready [6] Just think, no parking tickets [blink][blink] I did read my PM Teeps, but does forgetting to reply can't as an excuse?  [:-))] I will be setting up my lathe as soon as I can, so with all the lovely comments I get I will be posting more of what I do.
  3. 13 years back we moved here to be a part of our new envoirement and to be as French as we could be, being foreigners. I personaly have found it difficult to learn another language, but I persevered and more often than not only opened my mouth to change feet! Much to my friends amusement. We tried to intergrate into the comunity as much as we could and were welcomed into our village and the life in it. We joined in with the vilage life and have really enjoyed it. It has been a wonderful experience! We are now moving back to the U.K.. It has nothing to do with Brexit, just the right time and time for a return to our native country. Yesterday evening we were invited to an aperitif with our walking group in one of the village halls. We were told not to bring anything with us as the eve was in our honour. Normally everyone brings something either to eat or drink. When we arrived we were greeted by everyone and realised that the village Maire and madam deputy were also there. We were greeted as old friends, complete with 'bisous'. There was a short speech from the walking group president, followed by the Maire and a presentation of a lovely, large medalion of the village. Then followed by several wonderful presents from the walking group and a show of sadness that we are to leave. I was very close to tears as was SWMBO, my lovely wife/better 1/2. In a 3 weeks time we will finish our adventure in our special bit of France and return to England. But this adventure will stay with us and be enjoyed over and over in our minds. Yesterday evening will have a very special part in it! Our walking group are quite excited and have asked if it would be possible to visit our new home in England and see where we will be living? Our answer was "pourquoi pas?" Just before we leave we will be at the celibrations for 11th November and as a lot of you know, as I am a member of the Anciens Combattants of our village we will be attending the lovely lunch with them. Then 4 daze later we will be heading north for the last time as French residents! Next? The start of our new chapter and if it is good as this one we will be very happy.
  4. That difference is easy to suss out. Teporary for a year is that it is permanently temporary and finishes after a year. But permanent for a year is not tempory for the year it is permant until it isn't and it finishes [8-|]
  5. Crikey Sue!! That was toot-sweeet las [:D] Ta muchly. We have to go into our village Agence la Poste in the next day or so and they should have that form in there? But with your link we know what to ask for [8-)] Moving back is much more confustication than moving over me-thinks [blink]
  6. As some of you know, we are moving back to the U.K. That move is suddenly looming up on us too [:-))] My question is, how do we redirect our post to our new address in England? We will probably want it for about 6 months? Anyone any ideas please [kiss] ?
  7. No wonder wwe are moving back! We should be living on the Coat D'asure or somewhere near a place called cans? Fave tipple? No mention of Ricard [:-))] How could I answer that one? Load of awd pony poo init [blink]
  8. For the first time in almost 40 years we will be on mains drainage when we move and I will be relieved [:-))] without being worried about what I am relieved of [8-)] One thing that has always confused me is when we were living near Stroud and on a septic jobbie we could chuck just about anything at it and it worked fine. It was shared with our attached neighbour who was not careful wot went down and it worked brilliantly. But here, you sneeze in the wrong tone and it throws all its toys out and goes en greve! Why [:'(]
  9. What?? Sort of a deposit on the house you mean [8-)][8-)][6]
  10. As some of you know we are moving back to the U.K. Before we move we will have to have our fosse emptied. We are in the position of having a right plank for a neighbour who will do as much as possible to make life difficult ! Our leaving will be in the middle of next month. My question is, what distance away from the fosse can the 'honey waggon' be? This is so that we don't have to use his right of way to park the waggon on. That would be no worry for me, but he is the type of plank that would take it out on our nieghbour at the back when we leave. She is a widow, on her own, and he's already had her in tears on several occasions! The distance from the fosse to the nearest bit of road is about 30 in a straight line or 40  metres of hose run? I would doubt that they carry that much hose, but ?? Any answers on it please?
  11. The only flying that I do and pilot them is with radio controlled gliders and once I was asked why I didn't take up full size jobbies? My reply was that I have seen how I land [:-))] But, if I could have afforded it I would have loved to have got my PPL. But say-la-veee as the French would say [:(] My avitar is just one of the aircraft I own. A Fougar Magister primary jet trainer. All of 6' wing span and a wonderful PSS, power slope soarer, glider.
  12. It would appear that most of the French realise that a LOT of change has to take place and are all agreed. But TOMORROW!
  13. It's probably just their stockin trade [Www] You know, socks and shares and from the delightful colours I would say that the locals chaussette [kiss] Ain't not seem it about here though? But perhaps they are stocking them up, but they are a bit tights init [:-))]
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fePU5CIHpas The best way to stop moles diggging in yer garden is to hide their shovels [I][:-))] In fact if you leave them alone they will dig their run. When that's finished they stop digging and just patrol the tunnels and dig no more. Whe they have young and they become adults the parents will drive them away and they will have to go somewhere else. Probably not in your garden and then they will start their own tunnel complex. Use the soil in your plant pots. It's all good stuff. Good 'ere init [8-|]
  15. What spot is that Pat? The spot that killed 4 grandchildren and their grand parents in their van? If their hands had been in the air it would probably have been crying out for help.
  16. Well, they are about as subtle as a train crash http://web2store.mlp.fr/produit.aspx?edi_code=4icNPDj7GcY=&tit_code=z7YC/LWpJ68=
  17. We are packing like mad and one of the worst places for me is my workshop. Because we will have to wait possibly up until December for the cash in our mits I don't want to pack owt I will need. I've just finished 11 small dishes in leylandii and merusier (wild cherry, not too sure of the spelling?) so that is some out of the way. They will be small gifts for friends and neighbours. We are having a break at the beginning of Sept and stopping in a brewery for a few daze in Bury St Ed, the Old Cannon to be more accurate. So that should hepl [B][B][6] I tend to be a squirrel and do not like throwing things away, so that makes it harder! Good luck to you with your moving out. I have just delted a load of things off of Le Bon Coin that weren't moving, but they will be going back on in a few days. A lot was sold via there, but the scam emails/texts/calls are a bleedin nuisance! Texts such as 'I am interested in your trucque, but I am out of the country at the mo. Please email me on XXX' Oh yeh? Stuff off! The joys of moving I suppose?
  18. Ah Mint, but that is only an assumption init [:-))] For a secular country they don't arf have a load of catholique holidaze don't they [Www]
  19. Wooly, you shold know now that envy is a bad thing! If you want to meet your wonderful heros on those lovely motos with their tight trousers and long shiny boots you will have to go faster and not be so envoius of the bright young things that do [Www] [blink][blink]
  20. 150 or 200 or whatever you like? The limit is 130 and if you are STUPID enough to do 20 kph over that limit then you deserve all you get. Motos are the only ones who are allowed to make their own speed laws and any prat in a flash car is going to upset a damjam on a moto if the flaut that limit. I normally sit at the limit or just under, but I keep a weather eye out for these idiots. I am a convert, in that in my yoof a long while back, there weren't the limits of today, but I tried to limit what I was doing to what was around me, no matter how straight the road was?
  21. As the lifts say in 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' Mint "Glad to be of service"
  22. [quote user="woolybanana"]I suspect they may not have been the only ones; the whole business is rotten to the core.[/quote] Wooly you are a complete sinycque ! You know as well as I do that all of the hire car companies are as white as the driven over snow [:-))] We have had a yearly hire insurance for several years now and it's not been needed but still worth the huge reduction compaired with the hire company rip offs. About £40/year if I remember correctly? We only have debit cards and they cost enough! It's about time the French banks enered the 20th century, never mind the 12st, with their charges.
  23. It looks like they have been naughty boys and girls and lining their pockets? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4635826/Europcar-accused-fraudulently-inflating-repair-costs.html
  24. Ta for that Pip. That's what I thought it was, but it seemed too logical.
  25. Quick question? What's the French for 'alan key'? Anyone know please?
