  1. I'd forgotten we have woodpeckers as well. There are unidentifiable (to me) night songs as well, owls I imagine.
  2. Sorry, but from the web-site Puy du Fou looks a bit plastic. Cordes sur Ciel is very touristy but worth seeing. The Tarn gorges and the Millau Viaduct.
  3. Here;s my list: blue tit, great tit, long-tailed tit, blackbird, sparrow, goldfinch, greenfinch, chaffinch, nuthatch, starling, crow, rook, magpie, jay, cuckoo (heard not seen), hoopoe, golden oriole, buzzard, kestrel, nightingale (heard not seen), pheasant, partridge, pied wagtail, wren (very rarely), robin, wood pigeon. Think that's it. No thrushes nor other finches.
  4. Hi Tim, I am not an experienced gardener, but I did just that, put all my bulbs in a pot, and kept them in the garage, they were fine till planting time. jeanneclaire
  5. Hi Emma, If you go into the RHS website, you can find pictures of different weeds, the usual annual ones (too many to mention), and nasties like bindweed. I noticed when we had the cats, they did not like any citrus peel. If you place it on the flower bed, with citrus side up, you can collect the slugs in the morning, thereby, saving your new plants! I also found that if I planted a lot of Nepeta (Catmint), they would lie or roll on it and not mess nearby. Jeanneclaire
  6. Thanks for that David I will get my OH to investigate. Jeanneclaire
  7. Thank you both you have been most helpful, appreciate your prompt replies. jeanneclaire
  8. Folks I am sorry this is an old question I know, but can someone please tell me what the French is for Perlite, I have been unable to find it in the the builders merchants, and my husband came home with a 500g bag of perlite from Point Vert for 7euro!!!  at which rate, we will be bankrupt before the growing season is half way over!! I thought the name was the same in both languages, but I am obviously wrong.  I live in 81. jeanneclaire
  9. Can I just put in a word of caution, the compost is not always suitable for putting straight on to the garden, my husband was advised by the man in charge of the tip, where we can get four free bags that we should not put it straight on to the garden.  We layer it with our own compost and a layer of fumier, it takes a good six months to become nice and steamy, but all the weed in the compost from the dechetterie will be killed by then.  I appreciate this is not what you want to hear, but perhaps with a bit of luck, your nearest dechetterie, has compost steaming well for months to kill all the weeds. jeanneclaire
  10. I have not had anything to do with the above conversation, but to answer your question, I heard an MP give the figure of 300,000, read the same a week or two back in the Telegraph, I believe, and last but not least heard Sarkosy when he was in London say that now there were 300,000 people in England which made it the seventh largest French Town. Sorry to put my two penn'orth in, just thought I would answer your question. jeanneclaire
  11. I have tried to find the receipt, but no such luck, I am not really sure it is a box type with five trays and sheets of plastic on the trays for making fruit leathers, I think they have them in Pont Vert.  Sorry I cannot be more helpful. Jeanne Claire
  12. We've long felt that customer service is something that largely eludes the bigger companies. Individual artisans have given us a virtually faultless service, but generally we have been disappointed by the responses of regional and national companies. When we pointed out that two of our corner margelles on the pool were clearly darker than the rest of the margelles we were told that the these would darken and match eventually!
  13. I am not sure but I do think that you have missed them, as it was several weeks ago that MOH came home and said that he had seen them, I actually forgot about it until reading this post. jeanneclaire
  14. I bought one last year it is called L'equip.  I really liked it and dried lots of tomatoes and cherries.  Must say that I have not tried meat as yet! I believe you can buy them in Pont Vert, though I bought my through the internet, but cannot remember who I bought it through. Jeanne Claire
