  1. Nothing but bad can come of this! AOL seems to cause many conflicts especially if you ahve used an aol isp disc. They will also stop or hinder use of connections to webcams and many other usb connections on line. Get rid and try again. PS. what are you selling on ebay as I spend far too much time surfing it in search of bargains. JC
  2. Probably stating the obvious but have you suggested meeting half way and splitting the disputed metre. Does it really make a difference to any one? I once was involved in an investigation( I'm ex detective in UK) where one neighbour murdered the other with a shotgun over less than a metre!!!! Now I'm not suggesting that is going to happen but I would try to avoid litigation and sort things the friendly way
  3. It was I who posted the original question about tv coverage which appears to have stirred up a hornets nest. Perhaps the question I asked has been asked many times before and answered thoroughly in the archives. Perhaps had I not been so lazy I might have resolved my query before asking the question. Certainly I would not have entered into this forum had I thought so many people would get hot under the collar. Now seeing as Mazan's initial response was aimed at me surely it is up to me as to whether it caused offence. It DID NOT!!! It was short and sweet and in fact told me all I needed to know via the suggested link. It is difficult to gauge any inflection of attitude on an e-mail as we all know so lets chill out about it and enjoy a very merry xmas. I do hope we can all exchange future advice without further sniping at eachother and enjoy the one thing we all seem to have in common - France! Merry Xmas one and all keep the good advice coming!
  4. We are moving to Maine et Loire in the New Year with our 3 yr old daughter who will be attending the village ecole maternelle. The three teachers and the Mayor all spent about an hour with me last time I visited to show me the school facilities which were excellent. I have no doubt that the school will be good for our daughter and she will bed in well quite quickly. A big advantage over our private nursery system in UK is that it is free.(although I'm sure we will be taxed heavily to pay for it) What I would like to know from anyone who has already made the move is how they have found their children to be accepted in out of school activities. Are they naturally included as children make friends so easily or have parents found it a struggle to get them involved. I know all circumstances are different as is each child but any general thoughts would be welcome.
  5. Can someone please give me an absolute answer as to how I get UK channels in France. I am moving to Saumur dept 49 (Loire) in the new year. I have a sky digibox and dish here in England which I hope i can use. I do not want to keep my subscription to a sky package per say but would just like those channels I understand are free ie. BBC1 2 ITV etc. What do I need to do and what is the best way of doing it?? Please help - my wife will be upset if she can't watch Eastenders!!!!
