1. Poppy and her pups are safely in a foster home (87) and are being very well cared for indeed - BUT now we need to find them all homes....!!! Foster mum says the pups are growing fast and all are doing well. Poppy is a delight and happy to have someone help her care for her pups! If anyone can offer a pup a loving home soon, please get in touch. Poppy will also need a new home - she is a beautiful dog and will be spayed as soon as the time is right. She will make a great companion for an active family - she is a little timid but has already gained confidence and is very affectionate and sociable, fine with other dogs (careful introduction to cats of course). Please get in touch for more information on Poppy or any of her pups.... Jouals
2. Lady Porcelaine is making steady progress and has settled well in her foster home… here are some new photos of her (the marks on her side are where she was spayed - now healed perfectly).      She is a beautiful dog, very regal with a lovely face and gentle eyes.  Her foster mum says she is still a little timid and can be anxious but she is also very affectionate and desperately wants cuddles, to be loved, to be warm and to be safe.  Lady P is getting used to being in a house (something she has probably not been used to before but certainly is now!) and is not too keen on the cold weather (who is?!) - preferring to stay in in the warm and near a biscuit supply!  She is very intelligent and quick to learn!  She walks well on the lead, although she can sometimes be a bit fearful of where she might be going (is she wondering if she is going to be abandoned again?).  She gets on well with the other dogs in the house - we can’t say about cats - but with a careful introduction - she may well be ok. Her foster mum says a forever home with someone who is at home in the day, with an enclosed garden, with patience and time to continue to get her over her insecurities, who will let her live inside and give her a warm place by the fire, who will be her best friend and give her some nice long walks.   She will be a very loyal and loveable companion.  We all agree with that! If you would like to offer Lady Porcelaine a loving home - please get in touch.  We can help with transport. Jouals
3. This little family were brought into the Refuge in Cahors today by the Fourrière...!!! The pups are about 2 weeks old: 6 female and 2 male pups (6 black, 2 chocolate (of which 1 male and 1 female)) Mum is feeding and caring for her pups well.  She is sociable and loves human affection and attention. Conditions are far from suitable for such young pups in the Refuge, so a foster home for the whole family is needed urgently!!  The alternative for the pups is not good news.... If you think you can offer them all a foster home or know someone who can, please get in touch to see if we can help this lovely dog and her pups together.... Thanks Jouals REFUGE CANIN LOTOIS Z.I. 4. A happy ending for Kenzo - he was fostered by a volunteer and she has now adopted him as he settled so well with her other 2 dogs - lucky Kenzo - his own family at long last!! Jouals
5. This lovely elegant lady is Porcelaine, an Ariegeois X, gentle despite her size, she arrived at the Refuge in Cahors in December, very thin and showing signs of a recent pregnancy (or perhaps several!). Porcelaine is very sociable with other dogs, a little timid and not pushy. She does love her food - perhaps understandably as no doubt she has gone hungry in a previous life!! She also absolutely loves a fuss being made of her and is very affectionate. Porcelaine is about 6 years old, micro chipped (250 269 500 474 040), vaccinated and sterilised. She is currently in a foster home (just north of Limoges) but would really like to find a home of her own. If you are interested in offering this beautiful dog a home, please get in touch. Her foster mum has found she has settled very well in less than 2 weeks - and is happy to be with her and her other 2 dogs. She sleeps indoors quietly through the night and is beginning to enjoy the joy of a happy family life. All she asks for is some TLC and she will be a wonderful companion. If you like lots of country walks and want a loving companion - Lady Porcelaine could be the dog for you. If you are interested in finding out more about Porcelaine, send me a pm as I have lots of info on her from her foster mum who says she is a wonderful dog! We can perhaps help with transport to a new home too. 6. Wonderful news for Youpi - his foster mum had decided to adopt him!!!  He is such a happy, easy going lad - he has quickly become a special dog to her!  Lucky Youpi! Jouals
7. No news for a new permanent home for Youpi yet Mel.  I visited him and his foster mum last week - and he is the most wonderful dog - so affectionate and no trouble!  Just a happy dog who loves his walks and being with people.  So much more relaxed now he is away from the stress of the Refuge.  How any one could have abandoned him, I don't know!!!  More news as soon as I have it for Youpi.... Jouals
8. Youpi is now being fostered by a volunteer and how wonderful to see Youpi able to relax at last!  A huge thanks to his foster mum who says he is adorable and has settled in very well and is just so happy to have found some peace and tranquility away from the Refuge. The one thing she has noticed is that he is a bit stressed in the car, is it because he was abandoned from a car, perhaps? We don't know, but he is getting used to it as not something to be afraid of! He is clean and a good dog, eats and sleeps well. He is enjoying walks in the country and just chilling as you can see.... But Youpi still needs a forever home - please get in touch if you can offer him a calm and happy home - we can help with transport.... 9. Here’s Youpi - ears all sorted and really fit and well for a dog his age! Look at those teeth - not bad! He just loves to play and just wants to be with someone who will make a fuss of him - not a lot to ask for this lovely dog so cruelly abandoned! He is super affectionate, has a great personality and really deserves to get away from the cold, damp Refuge asap! He just can’t understand why he is there!! This dog is a joy, a real character and the rewards in re-homing him will be immeasurable! Please get in touch if you could offer Youpi a loving home... we can help with transport arrangements... 10. Youpi had his ear op today and all went very well.  He just needs a loving home now to make his life complete! Jouals
11. This is Youpi, about 9 years old, recently found abandoned.  Youpi needs to find a home urgently - on arrival at the Refuge in Cahors his ears were in a sorry state due to neglect.  He is now due to have an operation on them on 2 December.  Youpi needs a home as soon as possible so that he can leave for his new home immediately after his ear operation and where he can receive the care he needs to make a speedy recovery.  Youpi is a Labrador X, micro chipped (250 269 500 470 531) and vaccinated.  He is a wonderful boy - forever young at heart, happy and sociable, typical Labrador - loves people and is full of joy!  Hard to believe that this lovely dog has been abandoned isn’t it!  Who knows why he has found himself in this situation! Could you offer Youpi the home he needs - please get in touch to see how we can help Youpi together.  We might be able to help with travel arrangements for Youpi. 12. Chrissie - that's Garou, a young Beauceron X - still waiting for his turn!!! Anyone who knows this breed will be aware what great dogs they are!!  He is a big softy, just needs his own home (and some training!) to make his life complete. Garou is micro chipped and vaccinated.  If anyone is interested in him, please get in touch!! Jouals
13. GREAT NEWS!!!! Felix has been adopted! Or I should say re-adopted. The people who originally adopted him, and brought him back because the cat did not like him, returned to the Refuge. They had not stopped thinking about him it seems, and when they saw he was still there, they were so pleased! They regretted bringing him back so hastily, and so off he has gone for a 2nd chance - fingers crossed all will be well now for this lovely dog and the cat shapes up! Good luck to Felix and many thanks, as ever, to all the people who have tried to help him find a home. Jouals
14. Tony Knight, a well known dog whisperer, is speaking at a conference in Cahors on 26 November to raise funds for the Refuge Canin Lotois....  Come along if you can - it promises to be an interesting afternoon!!!  More information on the Refuge website.... http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/2011/11/11/chiens-parlent/
15. Lucky Bouly has been adopted and I can report he has settled well with his new family. Jouals
16. WONDERFUL NEWS!!!  Boby was finally adopted today!!! Here he is on his way to a new life.... Jouals
17. Sorry to disappoint anyone, but I have just heard today that Pumba has been adopted!!   Lucky Pumba. Jouals
18. This young puppy arrived recently at the Refuge in Cahors (found abandoned!).  Pumba is a playful, friendly and sociable young pup of about 3 or 4 months old.  He has the most beautiful brindle coat (he is down as ? Berger, Malinois X ? Boxer - an interesting mix whatever!).  He is going to grow into a very handsome dog.  If you can offer Pumba a home very soon - please get in touch.  He is vaccinated and micro chipped and ready to join a happy family!!! 19. It breaks my heart every time I go to the Refuge and see he is still there.  He is such a lovely dog, bit timid at first when he does not know you, but so affectionate once he does, just needs a loving home where he can have a place by the fire and wander around happily!!!  His face says it all! 20. So - thank goodness Brian was there for your partner's daughter!  It is amazing how animals can provide wonderful comfort in these situations!  He is a special cat and lucky to have found you!   (By the way - my young stray male cat is also becoming more accepted by "Mrs Grump" - she still hisses a bit at him, but not as much now.)
