1. Gips was adopted today and left for a new life in the Creuse.  Thanks to his new owners who came so far for him!  Good luck Gips!       Jouals
2. Thanks Christine We were not quite sure of his mix, someone thought he might have a bit of Podenco... but he does seem a little lurcher-like!  He is a good looking dog! Sorry, first photos from his owner. He is a super dog, and once over his stress and timidity, he will make a lovely family dog. Jouals

4. Lately I seem to have strange, meaningless (to me anyway!) lumps of text appearing in my posts (under Animal Welfare....)?  Can't seem to get rid of them, sometimes they appear twice!  Any ideas?  (I have a Lenovo and use Firefox). I usually have to click on remove all formatting before being able to post in the message box if that is of any significance! Jouals
5. Poor Hercule has just found himself at the Refuge, abandoned by an elderly owner and her family, “Mamie” can longer keep Hercule as she has to move into smaller accommodation.  Hercule is desperately unhappy, frightened and distressed to find himself in this situation.  We are seeking to place him in a foster home as quickly as possible (or an adoption of course!).  Hercule is one year old, micro chipped (250269604602193), vaccinated and in good health.  He has lived with a cat but has not (we think) been used to other dogs.  No wonder he is so bewildered to find himself in a refuge! If you can offer Hercule a foster home – please PM me to see how we can help him together, thanks!  We can also try and arrange help with transport.  Hercule is medium size, slim, no more than knee high. 6.   This beautiful GSD has just been abandoned to the Refuge in Cahors (46) (no fault of his, due to a change in family circumstances).  If you would like further information on this fabulous dog and can offer him a loving home, please get in touch.   GIPS was born in September 2009, he is sociable, clean and has had some education classes – all he needs is a new home as quickly as possible.   GIPS is vaccinated and micro chipped (2502687200079346) but not yet castrated.         Jouals Refuge Canin Lotois Cahors
7. This little tri-colour beagle needs a new home.  Papou is about 6 years old, he is now micro chipped (250 269 500 575 011) and vaccinated.  He will be castrated before going to a new home or by arrangement with a new owner’s vet.    Papou is sociable, friendly and loving – just an adorable little beagle who would make a great family dog.         If you would like to offer Papou a home, please get in touch.  We may be able to help with transport if you are a bit too far away from Cahors!   Jouals

10.   This is Gus, not in the Refuge, but the family of his owner are seeking a new home for him urgently and have asked for our help.  His owner is on crutches and can no longer keep Gus.      Gus is a BCx, born 11/11/2011, micro chipped (250269500477531), castrated and vaccinated.  He is good with children and other dogs (sorry – we don’t know about cats – but a careful introduction is best).   If you would like to offer handsome Gus a loving new home – please contact me for further details.  Gus is near Cahors (46).   Jouals
11. Can you believe this little chap was found yesterday tied to the front fence of the Refuge - dumped!  In a state as you can see... he has been scratching his ears due to a flea infestation.  What a life this little one year old has had so far!         Can you offer POUPY a loving new home - quick please - a Refuge is no place for this little dog....   Poupy is now micro chipped (250 269 500 584 280) and vaccinated.    Jouals
12. Alhoa is now reserved and will be going to a wonderful new home very soon. Jouals[:D]
13. It would also be worth notifying local refuges in case anyone is looking for her? Jouals
14. http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/ Just look at beautiful Alhoa!  A very sad case of an elderly owner who can no longer care for her and so she finds herself confused and alone, abandoned in the Refuge in Cahors (46).  Alhoa is a Labrador/Retriever cross, with a beautiful pale sable coat.  She is 4 and a half, in good health, sociable, calm and would make a wonderful companion /family dog.  She is micro chipped (250 269 201 025 875), vaccinated and wormed.  If you would like to adopt Alhoa, please get in touch.          Jouals
15. [:D]Mappa has been offered a wonderful new home with a French couple who adopted another setter (now deceased) from the Refuge a few years ago.  This is fantastic news for Mappa as the couple are great lovers of setters and she will have a very happy new life with them. Jouals[:D]
16. An update on Max (who is still sadly in the Refuge!).... (Ejc - I have PM'd you) This is what a fellow volunteer has to say about Max - she walks him often and he is one of her favourites!  Max shares a run with a female GSP - he gets on very well with her.  Max is just your typical Labrador - loves people and is sociable, friendly and full of energy.  On the issue of cats... with the usual careful introduction - all should be well... It is just a question of time and patience to settle in a new dog and for him to find his place in the "pack".  Educating a dog is an ongoing task... so some sort of education for any dog arriving in a new family is advisable! "...He has never shown any interest in the Refuge cats - doesn't pull you towards the cat enclosure or get wound up as you walk past it. Have walked Max in the forest with another dog (male) and he is usually uninterested. In fairness, I and another volunteer have stayed very vigilant and walked 2 or 3 meters apart but the other dog has touched noses with Max - who wasn't bothered. I haven't seem him be aggressive or dominant with other dogs and like all the dogs, he is a different boy outside the Refuge. He is very affectionate, playful and obedient - what's not to like? In conclusion, can only say good things about him. Feel he is a great dog who deserves a proper chance to settle somewhere new." Jouals
17. Mappa is about 3 years old, a beautiful setter x black and white with some red on her muzzle.  A charming dog, friendly and sociable.  She is a small sized setter.  If you are interested in offering Mappa a home, please get in touch.  Mappa is vaccinated and micro-chipped (250 269 500 561 173).  She is not yet spayed, but this will be included in her adoption fee and will be done either before she is adopted or by arrangement with a new owner’s vet. 18. Can't seem to get rid of the strange text at the bottom of this post!!! Jouals
19. This is Cash, a handsome Bruno du Jura x. Cash arrived in the Refuge in Cahors in February 2011 (!!) but is currently being fostered in Brittany (29780 Sud Finistere). He is about 4 years old, is micro chipped (250269500419303), castrated and vaccinated. All he needs is a loving home! He is a gentle softy who just loves to play and adores people. If you would be interested in adopting Cash - particularly if you live close to his foster home - please get in touch. His foster family are more than happy to talk about him and welcome you if you are interested in seeing Cash.       Jouals
20. Hi Frenchie Cactus is ok with other dogs, can't say about cats - he may need careful introduction to them as he has not been used to cats! I can't say about in a car - but will see if anyone has info on that. He has always been with Salto, and they have spent long periods of time alone together (unfortunately!).  As to being left on his own, again with training, this should be possible for up to 4 hours maximum. As to be being a runaway, again not to our knowledge, but he would need a settling in period and secure garden to be sure of this.  Sorry it's all a bit of an unknown quantity at first, whenever a dog is adopted/fostered, it is a question of settling a dog in sensibly to begin with and showing him/her what's what.  The first 2 weeks are always the most important in establishing ground rules/routines. Have you something in mind Frenchie? Jouals
21. Salto has been adopted - he went off to his new home on Sunday, where he has the company of another elderly female Labrador - I hear he is settling in well... But Cactus still needs a home! Jouals
22. Hi Frenchie What about Max the Labrador?? He has his own post on here already.   Ideal family dog, easy to educate, good with children and affectionate. There is also Benco - who is a softy, very affectionate - but would need that fence up! http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/2012/10/28/beagle-5/ There is Virus - very very affectionate and playful - loves to play ball (no cats though!). http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/2011/11/11/griffon-noir/ There is Phebus - a bit older...but also very affectionate and would enjoy being with a family as an only dog. http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/2012/07/08/chien-de-chasse-2/ Flex, the springer spaniel, also still looking for  a loving home...energetic dog. http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/2013/01/03/springer-spaniel/ Jouals PS - looks like a cut and paste job for the links!
23. Hi Frenchie I have passed on the details I have from you about your friend to my fellow volunteers to see which of the dogs at the Refuge in Cahors might be suitable.  I'll let you know our suggestions.  Jouals
24. Thanks for your help Frenchie!  If this person wants a dog - we might have the right one for him... he could look at our site, and perhaps give us some idea of what sort of dog... size etc... Not all the dogs are on the site.. so if he wants to let us have more of an idea.... we will see if we have got the right dog to fit his requirements. Refuge Canin Lotois Z.I. ENGLANDIERES Rte de Mercuès 46000 CAHORS TEL 05 65 22 66 32 Open to visitors every day between 3 and 6 pm http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/ Jouals
25. Cactus and Salto are now in the Refuge.  It has now been assessed that they could be homed separately.  Salto is feisty and independent for his age.  Cactus is a lovely dog, a bit timid but he will blossom into a super dog given a chance.  Both these dogs have had a sorry time and now deserve to find happy new homes.  If you can help by fostering or wish to adopt Salto or Cactus, please get in touch.  We may well be able to help with transport if you are some distance from Cahors.
