The previous owner has only moved across the road and we have asked him several times if he could find us someone in the village who would cut the grass. However, he has not come up with anyone.

We are in need of someone who could cut our grass on a regular basis. Our house is near Lumbres, St.Omer, Pas de Calais. Does anybody know of anyone?

We have just returned from our first week in our new residence secondaire and think we have a problem with the fosse septique. The previous owner told us that it didn't need emptying and that we were to feed it with Tarax once every six months. However, there is a strong smell coming from that area of the house and having hunted for a vent pipe from the fosse septique we can't find one. I don't know anything about them so is there anyone out there who can give me some guidance? I think I need to know what makes up the system ie should we have a vent pipe, how is it plumbed, etc. Also, is there a website that anyone has come across where I can get plans of a fosse septique or does anyone have some plans that they could photocopy and send to me? Thanks.

Can anyone please tell me whether it is possible to play english videos on a french set? We are considering buying one of those tv's that has the video included.

Hi, We signed the compromis de vente last week and now only have to wait until the French administrators return from their months holiday in August to get the keys to our residence secondaire. It would be lovely to know whether there are any other members who have property near us. We're not far from the St.Omer golf course at Lumbres.

Just to say thanks for all the helpful advice. We definitely will get connected via a land-line. Even though we'll only be able to use the house for holidays it seems the cost of the mobile will be prohibitive.

Hi Everyone, The holiday home we are buying doesn't have a telephone connection and I was wondering what other peoples experiences were in respect of making and receiving calls to/from the UK. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get a land line phone installed, the approximate cost, and whether such a phone is favourable to using an english mobile. Many thanks, Jacquie
