1. This is the first year I have been sent a 2042C form and think it must be completed for pensions paid a source in the UK. Usually I just fill in the pink 2047 form and transfer the figures to the main 2042 form. Reading the mass of info that comes with the forms it looks like you put figures in box 1AH on 2042C Anyone any further info?
2.
BTW...I would feel less safe (at night) in rural France than urban France.
You need to qualify that remark because I think it is a load of bull poo We live in a very rural area and never have any problems. There is the occasional burglary but few and far between, only heard of one in the last 18 years and the owners were on holiday. We can go anywhere around here any time day or night and feel perfectly safe, a lot safer than when we lived in Newcastle (UK) 45 years ago!
3. I have a complex prescription and bought specs from https://www.selectspecs.com/cart/index/ Cannot praise them enough. Kept me informed at each stage of production and the price was really good at £188 considering I had to have the ultra thin lens option. If you have an "ordinary" prescription you just pay for the frames.
4. I bought some glasses from a firm in the UK. They were sent via Royal Mail and I got a recorded delivery tracking number when they were posted. A couple of days later they had arrived in France. No tracking after that but they arrived in another two days and had to be signed for. No complaints whatsoever. At Xmas time it was a very different story with all post being delayed by weeks. Xmas card arrived mid January.
5. sid wrote ".......is it a "misinformation" magazine like the Connexion ?"Can you give some examples of when the Connexion has printed misinformation? I've seen this stated a few times on different forum but nobody has ever been able to say exactly what they have been guilty of. I suspect that people who post such things are themselves guilty of misinformation. I too find the Bugle to be accurate in their reporting, what would they gain by sending out knowingly wrong information and risking their readership?
6. Yeah, that will be "The New French Forum"
7. You need to look at your attestation on the Ameli site to see how long you are covered for healthcare. I am registered with an S1 and my attestation is for a full year. My wife is covered by an E121 from 2003 and her attestation expires in 31 December 2020 (BREXIT date). We are in contact with CPAM now trying to get it amended.
8. Be very careful what you buy. We were assured the one we bought was a slow cooker but in fact it was some kind of rice cooker and boiled everything rapidly. I think what you need is something like this: https://www.darty.com/nav/achat/petit_electromenager/cuisson_quotidienne-cuiseur_mijoteur/mijoteur/crock-pot_csc061x-01.html
9. Thanks for the timely reminder nomoss. Our EHIC cards issued by UK are due to expire this month. Phoned UK and the new cards (valid 5 years) arrived in 3 days! As with others the nice lady on the phone said they would remain valid until the end of this year and then for the period depending on outcome of negotiations.
