1.
Anyone play urban golf? We are thinking about playing a 9 Bar course round Carcassonne next month and a 18 Bar course in Perpignan sort of October time if we get enough people interested. We have a couple of semi pro's who are up for it to help anyone who has not played before. It's great fun..... really.
Sound right up my street :-) You must let us know the rules
2. Any thoughts on trade names for micro porous stains/varnish - was thinking of purchasing Sadolin woodstain here to use on some external softwood doors, but if I can would prefer to use something I can repeat buy locally.
3.
I thought the monthly "facture" is just telling you what they will be deducting from your credit card on a certain date? But I must admit that I haven't cross-checked my credit card statements  [:$] Angela
You need to check the detailed 2nd page.  As Brilec said earlier they sometimes charge twice particularly at that new peage nr Rouen.  Just happened to me for the second time this year.
4. Yes and there always seems to be a few in the Brico's when I'm there
5. The signs I pass are all "Creteprint", looks like they are moving along the road, so must be a good sign (?) - can't see a web site and have passed too quickly to get the number.  I know it starts 0800 though.  If I get a chance will try to get the rest
6. This is one such company:- http://www.drivewaydesigns.co.uk/ I pass several signs on my way to work in Kent at the moment, will make a note and get back to you again.
7. I posted this as a reply on another forum, but it may be relevant in that I got absolutely no response from the digi box itself originally Over Easter, while it was raining I bought one of those cheap offers from Castorama - Optex - with much the same result, couldn't access menu, suspected remote control was at fault, felt cheap and nasty, so what could I expect. Eventually I ran out of time and brought it back to UK with me. Plugging it in to my system in UK, I got slightly further. A message saying "no signal" I think and then suddenly after pressing several keys it fired up. Was able to change the language and point away from the the default Hotbird etc to Astra 2 where it started picking up channels from my existing dish. It did place them towards the end of the list, but hey it was working. Going back to french house in June and look forward to starting all over again, when the pressure will be on for the World Cup. Will take my digi box this time though but not sure its going to work with the monoblock lnb. Obviously I don't have the complete answer yet and certainly wish I had seen Antons advice on a Satellite forum first, but was too late and only saw that after getting back here.  The fact is I thought it was useless and annoyed with myself for buying it, but all is not lost yet and it remains to be seen if the monoblock itself will work with Sky as I did only bring the box back.
8.
Oh yes.  They had trouble with the trains in london because the tracks melted.
Wrong type of sun yesterday
9. You can just use the same credit/debit card and not punch the numbers in.  The word Validate rather than Enter or Next etc causes some confusion, but have found it to be quite quick at 5:30 am!! One word of warning that I would offer - the return ticket is printed on the bottom reverse of the hanger, so care when throwing this away.
10. Not the same I know, but have something called Windiff which compares the contents of two files You could try searching Tuwcows or other Shareware/Freeware sites
11.
Owens 88 - presume you mean the phone books. I would imagine as in the past, for those not delivered to or are not full time resident, you can go to your local France Telecom office and they will get you one after checking you are on their list of customers for one otherwise you may end up paying for it.
Yet another aside, is it actually possible to buy a Yellow Pages and do you have a rough idea how much?
12. Have to say I often do the same and print things.  It's ok for emails, forums and quick Help type screens but even that seems to take on a different and often easier meaning when printed.  It's also convenient when printed of course and can't really see things like Microsoft Reader taking off, even for PDA's?  The only plus side for me would seem to be the ability to search the contents and perhaps archiving..
13. If you have access to Microsoft Photo Editor which comes with versions of MS Office, just right click and view properties
14. As Loiseau said it works, but have had the odd blip when a return journey towards the end of a month has not been registered until the following month - hence another 2 euro.  It has however been a real bonus particularly when travelling alone.[:D]
15.
Thanks for trying Milly. Were you trying out for a booking or to do initial registration? It's the latter that I'm trying to do and the page just doesn't load properly. Just tried it again. Baz, I wil...
Patrick Had no trouble booking yesterday, but just tried the link to registration and there's a visual basic script error on the page - have sent them an email message to let them know.
16. Jules found this advert in Living France mag. http://www.diggersareus.com/ Have had no contact myself, but have often wondered about quality and prices paid for buyback deals etc
17. "It worked OH Deep JOY I allowed pop ups,  allowed forums, deleted temp files, went back in and control, panel is back, as are all the pop ups that I hate:  Still cannot win them all." hi Ron Sorry for delay have been away for couple of weeks.  Glad to see all ok now anyway, but I assume you will try resetting the pop up blocker?  One I'm using here at the moment is set to Medium: Block most automatic pop ups - also the LF site isn't in the allowed list - but this is the resinstalled Windows version and all ok at the moment.  These things certainly add to the interest don't they?
18. "This Forum is the only one I know that has software where access to your profile , messages and seeing the users names needs special settings on one's PC and looking back at previous posts has affected most members at one time or another.   Perhaps the next poster could suggest a cure" Ron I spent many months trying to find out why, with 2 identical machines one had a problem and the other didn't.  The problem for me was in looking at Profiles or searches etc - javascript errors prevented some things from running - though have to say I don't remember a problem with names appearing. The only difference I could think of was that one machine had been upgraded from previous versions of Windows and the other which worked ok was a new install of XP Professional.  The upgraded one worked reasonably with Firefox but some of the editing functions didn't.  All service packs and other software were identical and eventually just had to accept the situation and depending what I wanted to do use the relevant browser. I was finally proved correct when the upgraded machine crashed, wouldn't boot to reinstall from an image and had to install everything again from scratch - it now works perfectly. A drastic thing to do deliberately, but if you could buy/borrow a hard disk as an experiment and just go through a minimal install I think you would find the same.
19. Was impressed by those satellite pictures from Nasa, but for those of you with a fast Internet link, the latest software from Google is a must.  http://earth.google.com/ then click on the Get Google Earth free version and download the software In my opinion a fantastic program that you can drill down to details of your areas in France and others of course, tilting the view and seeing relief views etc -
20. You might like to be aware that Microsoft launched a Beta version of AntiSpyware software. It has been around for a while and I've been using it at home and work for a few months now. Its free at the moment probably all the time it's still a Beta version. The link: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
21. Mona It is possible this is related ie Is the date in the log somewhere around that time?  Was the software installed from an external CD drive or have any alterations been made since to the hardware.  This particular error shown from the log should not now be causing a problem, but it could be that the installation may not have completed, though I thought you said you installed from a download, implying directly? My next thought would be to try to uninstall iTunes to see if that error finally goes away.  I'm sure you will appreciate, very difficult to diagnose at a distance, you may find something in the Startup folder, but after this, unless anyone else has any options, afraid to say digging around in the registry may be the only answer.  Would go down the backup route as per previous email before you do much more though and try to find someone locally prepared to help. Best wishes (and if you find a solution let us know)
22. Mona I hope the reinstall of iTunes sorts the problem for you. From what you say and if I were in your position, while the system is still in reasonable working order, I would start to build a backup routine for all the data, including emails, address books etc.  Make a note of all programs you would want to keep for the future and make sure you have all of the software available for any future reinstall.  Also try to remember to create a restore point before making any system changes or installing new software. I wish you luck, but with the above in place you can then feel secure in the knowledge that if you had to start all over again with XP Home or whatever, you would only lose the time it takes to rebuild.
23. Hope you don't mind me butting in again, but a further thought If you can't see the program to uninstall it, before going down the route of overwriting XP, it might be better to retry downloading iTunes and installing it again to see if the error goes away and then uninstall it if not required. Certainly, I would not try to overwrite XP Pro with Home, they are different and if I remember correctly Windows will require the same, registered serial number during the overwrite process.
24. Could also be that the machine was once part of a local network and the "shared" program not now available?
25.
"This has nothing to do with the server, it is a problem at your end as you have no doubt worked out by compairing both PC's. I would sugest you get a PC guy to sort it out for you. Unfortunatly there...
"Thank you for your reply. If you do manage to sort it out please let me know the outcome. Regards Quillan" Not sure if you will remember this, it's been a long time, but I'm now virtually certain that the problem of not being able to spellcheck or format text or in my case see profiles etc is to do with how Windows XP has been installed - ie upgraded or fresh install. Due to a system crash and unable to get image software to reinstall the whole image I had to resort to reinstalling everything from scratch and now everything works properly ie all the Javascripts without error. The original problem using IExplorer, was that two machines setup identically and with the same applications and service packs, one worked and the other, only some parts of this forum were ok and had to run other browsers depending on what I wanted to do.  I should also add that no errors had been experienced with it on any other web sites or forums. The machine that didn't work had been upgraded through many versions of Windows and service packs over the years.  Now with a totally new software install, all appears to be ok. A bit late, but hope this may be of some help to others
