  1. Went to the Prefecture in Gap on January 4th and our shiny new TDS cards arrived this morning! If only changing driving licences had been as easy 2 years ago.
  2. Our experience in Gap 3 weeks ago sounds very similar to Sid's in Niort. The one problem was that I have deformed hands due to a combination of rugby injuries and Dupytrens contracture and can't put 4 fingers flat on a surface. I was thus excused this part of the process . Thought this could be relevant to arthritis sufferers etc.
  3. Thanks to you all for your contributions.  I've taken advantage of a snowy morning here in 05 to fetch out an old copy of a guide to french tax in English that I bought years ago which had a worked example showing how the tax credit fitted in to the calculations.  Did the sums myself & came to the same conclusion as suein56.  So I won't be darkening the door of the tax office. Thanks again, it's good to have plenty of folk prepared to offer advice/re-assurance.
  4. That's correct, the UK rental income & UK government pensions are taxed in the PAYE system in the UK so it's only our UK OAPs that are taxed here, as I understand it.
  5. Thanks, that offers some re-assurance but we're still confused by what I received from the tax office yesterday.  We paid no French tax at all until last year (on 2018 income) but our gross income hasn't changed significantly since 2014. Yes the rental income was really that low as we were between tenants & spent a goodly bit on decorating/improvements.
  6. Thanks for your comments/help.  I looked at Norman's link but it seemed to be about UK residents with French rental income and we are French residents with UK rental income. I think from what the tax office sent me yesterday the problem started with a visit we paid to the tax office in October 2019 when we the tax official could not understand what a UK state OAP is. Our figures declared in May 20 for income in 2019 are: UK OAP:                            Me €8269 my wife €4797 UK government pensions:  Me €14002 my wife €13433 UK rental income:              Joint €1179 Should we be paying French tax on these figures? We're very confused as we now find that we paid €469 last year in impots sur le revenue.  I think a trip to the tax office is called for.
  7. No, we have UK government teacher pensions plus UK rental income.
  8. PS.Had just pressed "Post" when I received this. Gone from bad to worse!
  9. Can anyone explain why our Avis de Impots is €0 but we are being charged €13 pcm under the Prelevement a la source? We're UK OAPs and have S1s.  We've been French residents for 12 years and are reluctant to go to the tax office in these times; they've never been much help anyway. Anyone in the same situation or with any ideas we'd be grateful to know.
  10. We've switched banks, internet provider and mobile phone contracts in the last year and all have been seamless and economically good value. Is it simple to change assurer (we have our mutuelles, car & house insurance all with the same company)?  Same question for electricity provider? Thanks.
  11. I got flashed at 88km/h in mid-April, received the €45 fine for being 10% over the limit at the end of May.  Paid the fine immediately, saved the receipt but was surprised to have the €45 refunded a couple of weeks later. I've not received any further paperwork regarding the point to be deducted from my licence or any explanation for the refund. The section of road concerned is now back to 90 km/h and I wonder if the 2 things are connected. Has anyone else had the same experience?
  12. Thanks pomme, duly Corriged! Glad that's over for another year.  Quite coincidentally, our UK tax return forms arrived today; at least they're a tad easier to comprehend.
  13. In a nutshell,2042 1AM/BM UK OAP8SH/SI Ticked if you have a UK OAP and are covered for health by S12047 To get Section 1 and thus line 11, at the start of 2047 you have to tick pensions, rentes etc imposable in France that gives you 1/11 tick prive, write RU and enter amount.2047 Section 6 UK rental income and government pension the total transferred to 8TKIt's as simple as that!
  14. Finally sorted, to get Section 1 and thus line 11, at the start of 2047 you have to tick pensions, rentes etc imposable in France That gives you 1/11 tick prive, write RU and enter amount.....it's a doddle. Apero hour looms.  Many thanks to all.
  15. We had 2047 but have only filled in Section 6 with our UK rent and UK government pensions, we didn't get the Section 1, line 11 that we've filled entered figures in on previous declarations. I'm only too familiar with the Corriger tab I'm afraid!
  16. Just 1 concern that seems different from before and that is we have nothing in section 11 of the first page of 2047; should we have put our UK OAPs there? The first page didn't appear so maybe we missed ticking a box earlier? Thanks again.
  17. Declaration made, fingers crossed as we don't fancy trips to the tax office again! Many thanks to all for your help.
  18. That's all really useful, thanks everyone.  We're filing online  and can't find where to put "revenus de pensions de retraite Britainniques de €XXX exempt de CSG et CRDS parce que je ne suis pas a la charge de l'assurance maladie Francaise" to make sure we don't get stung for CSG. The paper form used to have a notes section.
  19. Being simple folk we only have 5 figures to fill in which we've done like this: our UK government pensions on 2042, 1AL & 1BL. our UK OAP on 2042 1AM & 1BM and 2047 line 11 our UK rental income + gross government pensions on 2042, 8TK and 2047 Section 6 Should we tick boxes 8SH & 8SI because we are UK state OAPs and our health is covered by the UK? We have also filled in 3916 with our UK bank accounts. Does anyone agree with what we've done? Thanks.
  20. We have a friend who is standing as a candidate for mayor in the forthcoming municipal elections.  I'd read on the UK government website that post Brexit,  ie.after January 31st, UK expats resident in France would no longer have the right to vote in any French elections. We apologised to our friend and explained this to her but she assured us that we would be able to vote for her list in March. What are other people's understanding of this please?
  21. We are thinking of selling our UK property that we've owned for 17 years but have never lived in; it's been rented out all that time. Because the £ has crashed against the € the capital gain will not be huge.  Does anyone have an idiot's guide to the sort of %ages payable in the UK and France? Thanks.

    Flu jab

Every year my wife gets a bon for the flu jab through the post whereas I don't despite being eligible (over 65).  Each year I contact Ameli who say see your GP.  I ask Ameli to amend their records/system but with no effect. The same thing happens with the bowel testing. Anyone else had the same problem and manged to find a solution?
  23. Thanks Spider,On 2047k, page 1 section 1/11 we've only put our OAPs and ticked Prive. Then page 3 sec section 6 have put our government pensions plus UK rental income. On 2042, like you, we've used 1AL and 1BL for gov. pensions then 1AM and 1BM for our OAPs. Our UK rental income we've also entered in 4BE and 4BK. Total of Gov. pensions and UK rental income in 8TK. We've been to our local tax office and the fontionairre we saw was confused and suggested we wait.  She thought we would get our €45 per month of prelevement a la source refunded. We'll give it a couple of weeks and try again.
  24. Sorry pomme, you were responding at the same time as my previous post.  It's down to the tax office for us because I just can't see what we're doing wrong. Many thanks again.
  25. Thanks to Spider & pomme for your suggestions.  We've had a good look again at our online returns and have done exactly the same as last year.  We have put our government pensions & UK rental incomes in box 6 of 2047 rather than 8 so perhaps that's where the error lies.Next step is rdv at the Tax Office if I can find a suitable gap in the World Cup fixtures!Sorry to come across as a numpty but we've only got 3 sources of income and have been filing returns here for 10 years without too many problems, until now! Many thanks again.
