  1. I was on a boat on the west coast of France with my eldest son. His dreams came crashing down, as a recently qualified architect who had been born in Germany and lived there for most of his life and was used to having a second home in France he had much wider horizons than the narrow minded individuals like Ken. Intelligent and ambitious, his plans were changed by the xenophobic fools who believed the lies. Old men like Ken celebrating the fact that they have denied future generations the rights to the FoM that they themselves have taken advantage of. Please Ken, give me three real advantages of Brexit and I will give you ten times that number of disadvantages. Being ignorant is one thing, celebrating is is something else.
  2. Just an aside to the OP. If the pension comes from Teachers Pensions it is a Government pension and as such cannot be taxed in France. It has to be taxed in the U.K.
  3. When you use the word illegals, a favourite in your vocabulary, who are you talking about? Do you mean migrants from outside of the EU or British passport holders currently resident in the EU without ticking the post Brexit boxes?
  4. It’s not sarcasm it was an observation. You ignored what the OP had written and claimed that an over the top solution was required for a problem that didn’t exist. Bizarre in the extreme.
  5. Not particularly accurate journalism though. He would have had to apply online like everybody else.
  6. Oh dear. I was making an observation, you totally ignored the previous post that said the problem had been sorted out.
  7. What makes me think that you didn’t read the previous post before replying?
  8. That story has been reported everywhere. I’m surprised that you haven’t come across it.
  9. France is on target. Even someone with your superior intelligence and insight will have to wait until it’s all over to see which country got it right. Life in France seems to have been reasonably good to me.
  10. Update from British Embassy..shared from RIFT. from RIFT ATTESTATION D'ACCUEIL UPDATE We can advise you that the British Embassy have confirmed to us that the attestation will be required for UK passport holders travelling to France for private visits to friends and family where they do not have accommodation, such as a gîte, hotel, Airbnb etc, booked. Whilst exempt from needing a visa for trips of under 3 months, the attestation will be required. If you review this page you will see the list of document which may be asked for at the border https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en_US/web/France-visas/your-arrival-in-france?fbclid=IwAR3K1PL8QAmEQVJNF5CH5IBA9F4JrkU27OqMZBN4RBsXqqFA0OZ9X8J6gjg Please note this requirement is for all Third Country Nationals. The cost of the attestation is 30 euros and relates to the accommodation/per trip so one attestation can be used for more than one person assuming your family/friends are travelling together. The person hosting the family members/friends must apply for the attestation not less than 1 month before the visit commences. You can apply for the attestation here https://www.service-public.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F2191 2nd home owners may need to show proof of home ownership so a copy of a taxe fonciere maybe useful to carry or similar document showing proof of ownership. As far as we are aware 2nd home owners do not require the attestation. Please note, this does not relate to paying guests booked into your accommodation if you run a gîte, hotel, campsite, Airbnb etc.
  11. Since almost all visits to family will also be for tourism, and tourists can come without this palaver, Can you please provide a link to this. The France visa site doesn’t exempt tourists. https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en_US/web/France-visas/your-arrival-in-france?fbclid=IwAR1HlZejkvBqj8IGiZhNSSvFERnMfnLFZUMFU2Vm7ximl6KOSbblstvaqpw

  13. I have no intention of voting in the U.K. in the future. I last lived there a long time ago, left my ‘home’ area years before that and visit once in a blue moon. What happens locally in France us much more important to me. I’ve often read that people want a U.K. vote for their children’s sake; I don’t understand that, my adult children have their own vote, any vote I make might actually cancel out one of theirs.
  14. Exactly. My nephew’s buyers have said that they don’t want him to do any of the tidying up he had planned to do to the garden they just want to complete within eight weeks. Both things suit him fine and will save him several thousand pounds.
  15. Edit : Apparently it is more or less the same in the UK at the moment. At the beginning of the month my nephew put his house in SW England on the market for just over £500,000. There was so much interest in it the estate agents asked all the serious parties to send their offers in by the beginning of the following week. They received five offers, the highest being almost £70,000 over the asking price. He sold it to the people who made the second highest offer as they were cash buyers. A few years years ago his mother had the house on the market for a long time with very few viewings.
  16. When I watch the news it does not resemble reality. Just like your posts then. ?
  17. I once left a car at my holiday home for a couple of months and when I tried to move it I discovered that the clutch slave cylinder had failed. I contacted a nearby garage and the owner turned up. He towed it away and provided a devis. He did the work and I got my car back. There was never any charge for the call out or for towing the car to the garage.
  18. Yet another biased and pointless opinion. If there is a problem with a new drug any competent authority will investigate. The suggest that regarding AZ the French were being anti-British is not only pathetic but old news, the Telegraph and Express were saying it weeks ago because they know that their readers like that sort of thing.
  19. But unfortunately although they are jumping to France WA RP left the building four months ago. Perhaps they will post a thread on moving to France post Brexit giving a first hand account of navigating the visa system and applying for the appropriate Carte de Sejour.
  20. It’s the CdS issued to British citizens who were resident in France before 31/12/2020. It has a number of benefits that British citizens arriving after that date will not enjoy.
  21. Traditional ‘landlines’ are going to cease to exist in the very near future. Most people who have an internet connection use VOIP and for those people who want a telephone but no internet connection a simple VOIP box will be installed in place of the landline. For people who have fibre the VOIP will work that.
  22. It’s a real shame that you didn’t jump last year. The advantages that go with the WA RP are really worth having.
  23. Oh dear Ken, you are one of those. How sad.
