  1. Thanks for that, I assumed it was but you can never be sure. Gary
  2. I'm sure this has probably been answered before, but I can find no reference. Is Capital Gains Tax payable on profit made from the sale of a property or the whole amount. Thanking everyone in advance. Gary
  3. Can anyone tell me what the norm regarding felt under slates is in France. The battens I looked at in Point P did not look treated. So do they use a breathable felt or just ordinary. Thanks in advance. Gary
  4. Thank you, after my children have taken the 'p', there's not much left.
  5. I haven't a problem going up a size it's the availability of decent timber at a reasonable price. Gary
  6. Building regs give 9x2s on 400 centres 4.79 metres. It is actually the flat roof of a single storey extension that will one day (in the distant future) be a sun terrace. Thanks Gary
  7. Thanks for the advice, at the moment it is only used every six weeks or so. I'll look out for the Tarax. Thanks Gary
  8. I am bringing a youngman staging board that is 6 metres long over in two weeks. It usually travels no problem on the roof bars of my Renault Trafic. The overhang is about 60cms front and back. Are there any laws on this in France? Hope someone can help Gary
  9. 9 x 2 is a standard size for UK joists, spaced at 400 centres they will span the 4.8 metres I need. If 75 x 225 (3 x 9) is the norm in France then so be it. I t just means I can space them at 450 instead. Assuming that madrier means joist or such in French, what does 'bastaing' mean please. Thanks for info Gary
  10. Is there a method of commissioning a new fosse septique. Thanks Gary
  11. Can anyone suggest a supplier of 50 x 225 joists in the Vire, Manche area. Also has anyone heard of posi-joists in France. Cheers Gary
  12. I've just used it to install a toilet system with no problems.
  13. I'm going over twice next month, my intention is to buy the oak, store some at our barn, take what I need back to the UK, build the necessary and transport back again. It'll probably be cheaper than buying in the UK. I do have a small planer/thicknesser that I could take over but it wouldn't be man enough for the larger timber. What do you mean by 'small' quantities. Gary
  14. We are south of Vire, just outside a small village called Gathemo. My workshop is the UK at the moment although I will be moving equipment out once the workshop is built. I need the oak for the doors/window frames. Gary
