We are trying to take out a mobile phone contract with Orange in addition to the landline and Internet. It is proving to be an arduous and stressful task, the English shpeaking helpline varies from being helpful to difficult. I know I need to improve my french speaking but I'm at a loss how to move this on. We have provided no end of evidence that has been requested but the constant reply seems to be 'wait another day' and 'don't phone again for 2 days' ....none of this is helpful. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice in best way to deal with orange?

You may be right. There is actually a vacant plot between our properties so I think we will be safe there.

Thank you all. Took advice and visited Mairie, they were totally bemused by our neighbours 'advice' and said there is no problem. Advised if we want to control them by taking out new trees but entirely up to us. Phew. Now I don't have to look at chainsaws anymore.

We recently moved to Pyrenees Orientale near the Spanish border and a near neighbour (French) visited us to advise us that we had to cut down all our mimosa trees as they are a pest and if we don't do it we will be charged by the Mairie office for cutting them down for us. Now I am a bit of a sceptic and am not sure if he is telling us the truth or if he just has an aversion to Mimosa trees ( he is furiously cutting down all of his). Does anyone here know whether the Mimosa is a pest and has to be controlled?

Apologies if this has been raised previously but my search of the forum is not showing recent discussions. We are moving to France in the next couple of weeks. I want to arrange a landline and Internet service at the property. Who do you recommend? Do any of the providers have English speaking helplines? Average costs of services so I can gauge how good any deals are? Many thanks

Good morning, we are shortly moving to France and my question is whether it is better to bring paint over from the UK or buy in France? I have read a number of things which say that UK paint is better(?) than french; is this true? Are there good varieties of paint colours available easily in France?
