  1. Well there you go. A reasonable question and a sarcastic response about getting the answer in French from one person. No problem as translate services are now excellent on the internet. However if someone has done it before then why not reply just giving sensible answers about how they got on and with a caveat.

Typical though with this forum at the moment, but Norm(an) is right in that posting the original site (maybe in french) protects the poster and gives the whole answer.
  2. Yesterday texted older son who lives/works in Helsinki about how sunnier and warmer the weather forecast was there compared to here in the UK or indeed in Dordogneshire.

Today he accused me of jinks-ing them as it was thundering there today.

Thunderstorms go with hot weather - better than hot-ish weather gradually turning to rain then consistent rain that we are currently experiencing in our part of the UK. I rather like a good thunderstorm.

  3. WB - you are lucky - we have three dogs ruling the house at the moment - of which 2 are attention seeking dogs of our daughter who is on holiday with those who normally look after them. Had to go searching by car for one of them yesterday along the surrounding lanes.

    No problem with water.

  4. I'm afraid it has been the same old for 75 years for Palestine and now even more frightening with the recent rise of the evangelical christian and racist right within the western world.

May your god help you. Unfortunately there isn't one. Religion is purely a human device to control the masses.

  5. What have Trump and Netanyahu got to do with English common law?

The question was prompted by this:

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-administration-human-rights-commission-natural-law-mike-pompeo-state-department-a8938706.html

and the Israeli 2016 basic law furthering zionism and the eradication of palestinian peoples.

Though I think you knew that.

  6. But people who are "truly" Israels (according to the nation state law) do hold the power together with the evangelical christian nutcases in the US. Remember that all "israelis" serve time in the IDF where there is certain indoctrination against Palestinians i.e. worthless scum - shoot them when opportunity arises.

OH saw a settler in Hebron pour battery acid over a Palestinian market stall holder from the settler flat above. The IDF soldier nearby said that he saw nothing and the next person who says anything will be shot. OH, was advised by those with her to keep very quiet. (she is white, UK passport etc ). The poor Palestinian lady was left in agony for some time as the IDF soldiers kept access forbidden. Its everyday occurrences like that that will never be forgotten.

I must have mentioned it before. I know a few jewish friends whose children have gone off to join the IDF to "do their duty" - they are equally terrorists IMHO.

  8. Its the Daily Mail - what do you think?

What does "forced" shops to lose mean - protesting outside if they are selling thing from the occupied territories as if from Israeli is not IMHO a problem - in fact it is to be lauded whoever the shop owner is.

All israeli residents in illegal settlements are indeed the warmongers as you describe them. They want to kick out the Palestinians - have you not noticed?

  9. https://www.timesofisrael.com/palestinian-teen-said-shot-dead-in-west-bank-apparently-while-breaching-fence/

West Bank this time. Another article says a Palestinian was shot dead after injuring 2 Israelis.

What a state where Palestinians are automatically shot dead - could easily have been arrested. Some situation where these desperate people have no hope.

  10. You have lost me there WB - opposed to what?

With respect to the recent expulsion of a person who advised voting against the labour party from the labour party, I do find it strange that a person who is continuously demanding not to vote for labour is not expelled. (Margaret Hodge)

Nb it has been against labour part rules for a very long time!

  11. I think its reasonable to believe a report was issued and perhaps the report was a little difficult to stomach by the owners of the right wing press or indeed BBC decision makers yet the little remaining independent press in the UK does.

"Israeli press is also selective in what they print. And no doubt the Palestinian press, if we could read arabic."

Good try Pat. Israel has the word "hasbara" - look it up folks. Very effective. The press most people read here is in English, but Hebrew is what Bibi talks when he want to talk to the "populace" and doesn't want the rest of the world to know before the hasbara people get into action. Oh dear, the meaning was miss-interpreted in translation!

NB most Palestinian press in Palestine is controlled by the occupying forces there. They go in and trash the offices every so often. Arabic is still widely spoken there despite the nation state law.
  12. But it helps if people can see both sides.

    Here is another:

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/uk-corporate-tax-avoidance-havens-justice-network-dodging-a8933661.html

Also in the Guardian but not in the BBC or Daily Mail (not prominent anyway). This, in my humble opinion and an FCA/ATT who I know, is why monied tories want Brexit. EU are clamping down and British ones could be next. Where are campaign funds coming from one might ask.

Makes filling in french tax forms look like peanuts to them. Except for the future MEP who is immigrant in SW France perhaps. Oh the irony.

  13. I also could not vote because we were in a foreign country - France.

Unfortunately it won't be classed as a "protest vote" as apparently the vote is higher than normal.

If Stoke on Trent is anything to go by it will show how thick the average voter is - as used by that racist person, adored by the UK and called Churchill.

And how other politicians on the right have also used them - Goodness there is even a conservative MP sitting there atm - a young lad who has used the mob BNP etc types in such a deprived area. (NB People who think they are middle class but live on a estate called Meir Park in the constituency are wrong - its a slum of the future at the current rate)

Trump is there waiting to make it the God of money by using the evangelical christian nutcases.

Just look at Maggie May - there every Sunday but the nastiest home secretary possible.
  14. Not sure what the last post is about but I would suggest this website is still the best place to start when in France:

    https://www.irsn.fr/FR/Recherche/Pages/RechercheAvancee.aspx?k=radon

NB Radiation Protection Advisor certification in the UK is valid for 5 years before a portfolio of work needs to be submitted for renewal. Mine ran out in 2015 and was not renewed.

  15. Mmmm - OH not convinced. I was about to give sarcastic response about WBs translation but perhaps Spain is far enough south for it to be a possibility, especially with BnBs sane post.

However, looking on the internet further there appears to be the possibility that it is wild thyme. There is a website that will apparently correlate photos of flowers with their names - OH has details apparently. So we will do that when she/we have time.

If so, then bizarre, as our favourite restaurant is called the "Bryn de Thym" and we were there only yesterday. Can google it but you will need to book as its very popular with locals.
