  1. Big Mac.....If you're meaning "Parpaing" - the standard French concrete block.....I'm sure there's plenty of videos online, but if it's a retaining wall, you may well be best in include a couple of piers to add strength and make sure you've a good foundation and drainage through the wall. No disrespect, but do consider seeking the advice of someone who knows what they're doing and ask them to actually visit the site. M.
  2. It's been a common problem of late, it's an EDF signalling problem and will sort itself out.....However if you're better off, don't contact EDF, but if you're not getting you cheap rate....EDF's breakdown number is 08 10 33 37 54.
  3. Denso Tape......it brings back a few memories for me too, good job someone invented self amalgamating tape, which Sid has found here in France (well done Sid)......It's ideal for making electrical junction boxes etc., pretty much waterproof too. Mark
  4. The tank is probably a holding tank.....I had one under my WC, it may have an overflow, but by the sounds of it it doesn't have any sort of filter system.....It'll be diffcult to identify what you've got unless you've any history on what was installed, but I reckon you'll maybe have to install a fosse (assuming that the exissting one is not to the minimum size and a sand filter of some sort. Start by getting a couple of devis, hopefully in the process you may learn some more about your system. Bon chance. M.
  5. I gave my three my nail gun and it cost me a fortune in nails......see the clip below! http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=6db_1273485125 Mark ;-)
  6. Hi, If it's a holiday home, it may be worth considering electric heating in conjuction with a wood burner.....Whilst electric may not be the cheapest to run "full time" it's a quick heat and a relatively cheap install and it won't freeze up during the winter. Mark.
  7. Hi....I would have thought if it's an old door then it would have finished "moving about" in normal domestic conditions unless it's in a sauna! so a general wood filler would surfice. I've found Dow Cornings website (sorry, you're going to have to do a search) useful in the past for selecting the right "silicone based filler".....so it may also be helpful for you too. M
  8.  Use hemp and "boss white" (compound) on the parallel threads of the chauffe eau. NOT PTFE. M.
  9. John, heater circuits are normally run via individual "radial" circuits protected by a suitably rated disjoncteur (miniture circuit breaker).... Often you'll find 4 cables in the flex outlet box (the 4th being a control cable). If you're happy that the cable goes directly back to the fuseboard and is the only thing being protected by this breaker, then you could change the "flex outlet" to a socket. Make sure you mark the circuit as a socket. The 10 amp disjoncteur although not quite to "regs" will be fine. Warning - Be careful that the earth is actually an earth as I've seen then used as the control wire before. FYI. You can have upto 5 sockets on a 1.5mm radial circuit.  Mark
