  1. If we think Britain is bad, I would love to look at the expenses claimed by MEP's, I think it would make UK MP's expenses pale into insignificance.
  2. Ditto, just tried again and all the warnings have disappeared. At least it is back to normality.
  3. If I get up a page of results they all have this warning, time to change to another search engine!
  4. I am having the same problem but cannot blame it on any children. I am in UK. Perhaps one of the tech wizards will be able to help us.
  5. See OTHER TOPICS, the thread explains. Same problem as you. Hope this helps Honeydo
  6. Beg to differ.  Our sky+ box is not connected to phone line and we still get series links with no problems.
  7. Note however, if you have saved towards your retirement you may get no pension credit. This is not an automatic entitlement nor a guarantee.
  8. We have a constant problem with deer here in the UK we are in the middle of the countryside and have woodland surrounding the garden.  We have found that if we protect shrubs for a couple of years until they are big enough to cope with the odd crop they will be okay.  We now have a beautiful Ragged Robin which is cropped at the bottom every winter and spring but is large enough to cope.  Deer do not touch Buddlia,  Hydrangeas or Choisya. We grow most shrubs and now all survive.  We have three ceaonothus which we started in large pots, deer still tried to eat them, put them in the ground surrounded by fencing, fencing now removed and the plants are huge.  They love roses and all our roses are behind fencing.  So we enjoy them, mum, babies plus odd stag but have still managed to have a large beautiful garden.  I have to tell you however there have been many times when I have sworn at the damage caused but have over time learnt to live with them in relevant harmony. It is a wonderful sight to see them lying down on one of our banks apparently resting but always on their guard.  They do not seem to have much fear of humans and it is usually necessary to run at them to make them move. Best of luck with your new garden.
  9. Cassis many thanks for your reply much appreciated
  10. Received yesterday in the UK for department 17 payable 15th December the same as last year.  I have a question which somebody maybe able to help me with.  When we bought the apartment we chose not to buy the garage but we do have our own parking space.  We did inform the department that the original owner had retained the garage and we had just purchased the flat.  However I have noticed that we get charged for garage/parking, are parking spaces taxed or are they still charging us for the garage?  Replies gratefully received.
  11. No, I am having the same problems and only accessed the site by the same means as yourself.  Everything was okay yesterday.
  12. I am sure that this does not just apply to Barclays, but to all  banks from the Uk who hold offshore accounts. This was bound to happen under EU regulations.   Honeydo
  13. I lived abroad for twelve years, in the US and Switzerland, now back in Uk but have a second home in 17.  I learnt over the years the experience is what you make of it.  You will have frustrations, but the joy is the learning and then being able to say I did it. I had many friends with the same attitude, but others sadly couldn't or wouldn't adapt expecting everything to drop in  their laps.  I say go for it, on a whole you will find people helpful.  Even when we bought our place in 17, shopkeepers and the like seem to have gone out of their way to be helpful and extremely friendly.
  14. We are back only for all listings, the individual ones, sports, movies etc still not working Honeydo
  15. Just like to thank everybody who responded to my original postings.  It just shows how useful this forum is. If it hadn't been for all you guys we would have gone out and bought a new box.  Thank you everyone. Honeydo
  16. There are more people on the satellite forum with same problem, all appear to be panasonic boxes. Honeydo
  17. This is looking more like a sky problem, lets hope it will resolve itself.  At least it has stopped us immediately going out to buy a new box.  If we do eventually upgrade how do people find the new Sky+ and Sky +160 boxes, are they reliable or would we be better investing in the normal box. Honeydo
  18. Yes the signal is fine.  I have just read on a satellite forum, two other people appear to be having similar problems so maybe it is a sky problem, will sit tight and wait and see what happens.  Really annoying though.  Thanks for the help and advice Honeydo
  19. Thanks for the advice, have done as you suggested  but it has not cured the problem.  Checking the numbers it would appear that our software was up todate.  Any other helpful suggestions?  Thanks   Honeydo
  20. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a forced download, and how do I go about it.  Thanks Honeydo
  21. Have  a Panasonic sky  box, problem is that although we have gone through all the usual procedures such as turning off and resetting, when it is switched back on the search for listings banner just stays there and apparently cannot find the listings, applies to all sections.  If we punch in a channel number we have no problem in getting a picture.  Does this mean the box is on the blink. Programme planner does come up. Any suggestions gratefully received Honeydo
  22. Our tax fonciere is more than d'habitation, I am sure somebody on this Forum, who lives in France permanently will be able to give you an explanation. We also received this year a form which had to be filled in regarding TV licence (this was sent to our UK address). I have read in other parts of the forum other people who appear not to have received this piece of paper. I originally posted this thread and am pleased to report that tax d'habitation was received on Saturday, to be paid by 15th December, which was different from last year!
  23. Thank you Baz, there is always somebody on this forum who has to make uncalled for comments.  One tries to be helpful.  Thanks goodness I am not  a grumpy old woman
  24. No I did not get it wrong the date on the avis was 15th November for last year.  Area is Royan
  25. Last year we had to pay by 15th November and the bill came in early October, that is why I was worried.  I didn't reallise there were two dates until I looked at the government site.
