1. Araucaria No, But If you are interested I do know where you can get them or I can put you in touch with people who do that sort of thing if you want.  Does that answer your question? O
2. I had better help here so that we don't go out of sorts with price differences US/Europe/UK etc. and get all hot about what is and what's not better. The only sensible way to view 'value for money' in the matter is 'whole of life cost' with respect to the LOCE (levelised cost of energy). That is the cost of the installation over its lifetime, including the initial installation as well as replacement cost when the equipment has worn out as well as energy consumption and maintenance. Now assume the following : Pool is 10 x 5 x1.5m with a good thermal bubble cover Pool is open to be used 180 days per year from say May till September Life span of the test is 20 years all other parameters are equal, and prices include TVA So using manufacturers recommendations I find the following: Solar mats are €0.92/kWhr Flat plate collectors are €0.35/kWhr Evac. tubes are €0.33/kWhr Heat pump is €1.18/kWhr ( as one would expect!) These are calculated using current pricing averages as well as recommendations. So for rentability, the evacuated tube system is NO QUESTION the most cost efficient of all systems, however all three solar systems do not guarantee consistant heat delivery of the heat pump which for some is an issue to be considered. But as is plainly on view, a pool owner has to pay 3.5 times the price for the privilege of that assurance when choosing a heat pump. O   Note: LOCE is defined as "the initial capital, discount rate, as well as the costs of continuous operation, fuel, and maintenance. This type of calculation assists policy makers, researchers and others to guide discussions and decision making." Wikipedia ed.
3. Can I just say something which has gone unsaid at this point. That a SOLAR MAT system like this (which is what you've all been talking about)   Will ALWAYS UNDERPERFORM and be generally more expensive to install and to maintain than a SOLAR PANEL system of evacuated tubes like this   There reason is that the SOLAR MAT only absorbs energy and transfers it when the sun is shining, is generally uncontrolled in terms of flow rates and will be a constant worry from leaks created by expansion of the material. Whereas the Evac. Tubes, are precisely controlled, no more expensive and produce 80% more heat for a given area partly because they can still operate on overcast days as well as sunny ones and for many other highly technical reasons. O
4. Yes you can train as anything you want in France. You just join the courses and do you apprenticehip as would a French person, but you should at a reasonable level f written and spoken french language before you contemplate the move. If you don't have that then train in England and get your qualifications recognised here at the Chambre de Metier. The real difficulty you will face is that when you've done all of that and you want to start working over here then its either get a job; which is very difficult, especially so if you've no language skills; or start up yourself. If its that latter then beleive me, you will need some help with the setup structure. Because if you get it wrong then you'll spend all your days working for the benefit of the state and your suppliers and very little for you from your effort; ITS NOT EASY, anyone who says otherwise is not being honest or doesn't really know. You need to be clear about the reasons why you want to live in France and you need to accept that the ways are different here than the UK and they simply will not change to suit any time soon. Do your research and ask questions of anyone who has/is done/doing it. You'll soon get the idea. O
5. Maybe I can save you both some bother. The main difficulty with this sort of arrangement is that you need some heat storage , an accumulator to make the system work at all. That is to say that, certainly some of these back boiler stoves will produce a bit of heat, but they by and large go to heat up the room they are in and don't really distribute very well. Now if ther are plumbed into an accumulator then the heat can be controlled so that it doesn't get too hot in the kitchen and as much as is needed can be circulated around the radiators/underfloor or such. The trick is that most stoves need an indirect non-pressurised system and the radiators are usually a pressurised system so it necessary to have someone who knows what they are doing to make the two types of systems work together. If you take the plunge and install this type of combi accumulation arrangement then it will work wonderfully well with what ever stove you have. O
6.
I needed to increase my Total Alkalinity levels - they were Lo on the Scuba+ reading. Other readings were as they should be: Free Chlorine 2.4 Ph 7.4 Cyanuric acid 23 So started adding Sodium Bicarbonate to increase TA..... .....and added some more sodium bicarbonate.....and added some more sodium bicarbonate all to no avail. I've added about 12kg to a 75,000 litre pool which should be enough! So I did some research and wonder if I have discovered my problem? I use a Chemigem controller and dose the pool with liquid chlorine and sulphuric acid and I'm wondering if it is the sulphuric acid which is causing the problem? The research suggested that sulphuric acid is very aggressive at reducing alkalinity but Hydrochloric acid much less so. Is that the solution to my Alkalinity problem - change to Hydrochloric acid and add (even) more sodium bicarbonate? AND if so, is it simply to just change acid in the Chemigem or will I need to remove some water from the pool and replace with fresh water as well? Thanks as ever for the very helpful info posted about swimming pools - I'm hoping you can advise on this one as well! Sue
So you'll need to turn the Acid feed on the Controller OFF to start with untill you get a satisfactory TAC reading. With the amount of water in your pool I should have thought that a 25kg sac would have been sufficient (just) to raise your TA to over 100 where it needs to be. Be sure that you empty to contents (10kg at a time) into your leaf net and suspend it over a return jet for best distribution. Then you MUST leave it be for 2 days to allow the Bicarb to dissolve. If you test right away, you are just measuring the carbonates in suspension.-they take a while to dissolve. I'm sure that it says that in you controller manual. I think you had better stick with Sulphuric as it cleaner than Hydrochloric which can introduce crystaline deposits in your valves, which could do damage. The use of this or any liquid acid does gradually brings down the TA, but so does rainfall of which there has been plenty of late. This is why I suggest you get a good amount of 'buffer' in the pool (over 100, your manual specifies 130ppm) so that you get some grace period before the TA drops below 50ppm and you've got to do it all again. As you probably know already, you must get the TAC right else everything else will be cockeyed too. Just a few thoughts O
7. Text transposed from the previous thread as requested. Maybe a fresh start will inject more constructive participation.  Lets hope!   O   Albert  You have me very worried about the last post (of consequence) in which you assert that and AE can declare RSI @ 21,5% for labour and 12% on material for the one facture with the same registration (BIC).  All this would, I am advised by my Expert Panel lead to significant fines or perhaps much worse. Their cynical minds would tend to think that any Artisan would therefore be tempted to facture 95% of any project as Materials/equipment saving a handsome 10% with little or no chance of being caught. However, after going to check it out from the ‘horses mouth’ just to be sure, they made it clear that it is as you say possible to declare both. So I’m going to have to check into this much deeper, as it just doesn’t make sense that there should be such a grey area, which can be exploited to the advantage of the Entrepreneur – most ‘un-French’.  But notwithstanding all that Bertie (ol’ chap), I’m not confident that we are going to progress very much further as clearly we are currently bogged down with business fundamentals and prima level percentages – doesn’t look like we going to succeed to explore any more complex arrangements at this rate. The basis of any soft systems analysis is to assume a core of knowledge or ‘given’ information – we haven’t even got that it seems.  So it’s got to be ‘give up now’ or up the pace, I guess that I’ll have to propose something constructive and specific to answer. So to ‘throw in a bone’:   Interrogation 1  We’ve agreed that the AE has a problem with purchases and cost being taxed rather than deducted as SARL. I guess overcoming that situation would make AE more interesting would you agree. You could for example; Largely eliminate (Labour only) Out source them Can you think of another way? O
8. The basis of any soft systems analysis is to assume a core of knowledge or ‘given’ information – we haven’t even got that it seems so it doesn’t look like we going to succeed to explore any more complex arrangements at this rate.    I find this pretty disappointing that after 5 pages of posts, 2000 views that no one else here seems to want to make a difference in how things are done despite platitudes and rebukes - noone said 'BOO' for over a week.  For my part, I dislike being a sheep and following along to the slaughter blindly, that’s why I’m doing this, contrary to what seems to be popular opinion here.  So it’s got to be ‘give up now’ or up the pace, I guess that I’ll have to propose something constructive and specific to answer. So to ‘throw in a bone’:  Interrogation A  We’ve agreed that the AE has a problem with purchases (depends on above)and cost being taxed rather than deducted as SARL. I guess overcoming that situation would make AE more interesting would you agree. You could for example; ü      Largely eliminate (Labour only) ü      Out-source them ü      Can you think of another way?   All this talk of fish is making me peckish!   O
9.
I was under the impression from your first post that you thought you had found a better way but now I am beginning to wonder if you are on a fishing trip to see if someone on this forum has a better way. This would explain your reluctance to diverge any details of your scheme. Apologies if I have missed something
Thanks for asking the question but I already said what my purpose is and it doesn't involve publishing my plan on open forum that would be against the rules of the forum and against my interest. What I'm merely saying is that, I've managed to come up with a plan (hurrah!) that means by definition that there must be others - different ways.  Now there are nearly 1000 views on this thread since I began talking (perhaps not all looking a at theses exchanges), which indicates to me that there are people who are interested in the subject (and why not, we are all finding it hard these days). What baffles me is that with all of those views and nearly 3 pages of exchanges so far past, not more than one poster has sort to exercise his brain to explore the subject to try understand the problem and search for a different solution (how sad). For the benefit of the detractors, elsewhere in Forum land the exchanges has been much more positive and many times more productive - in short, they get it!  So I'll say this, I know its possible, so if nobody wants to join with me to explore its nature to find their own solution - fine! But if alls that'll happen here is for posters to wait for me to give up the results of my hard work and creative thought, then I can say to all 'strap in' because it'll be a long wait.     O
10. Well then, things are hotting up a bit. All the better!! Well now what to start with …. Albert (always good with reliable info) Please look again an see that the example was for an Artisan (Prestation service) who indeed should be contributing 23% (or 21,5% if you like without Versement liberal) and so of course it would not look very good against a Commerçant at 13% (or 12% sans Versement Liberal). Sorry for the messy presentation, as Excel tables don’t paste very well (no I didn’t count TVA twice) As an aside, you will notice that AE have to pay tax on tax, ie, pay RSI on TVA (ouch) But please lets tell the whole story so that folks can really know. The Commerçant (@13%) must find at least 27% discount (of public price) of purchases (that’s 15% markup on COG TTC) in order to just break even (earn nothing… ouch again!) By my calcs I cannot see how our friend Euro trash will earn more than 15% yield if he has a 40% discount on PP (or 40% mark up TTC) The numbers you have analysed, I cannot get to the same conclusion, (I’m sure that you can explain that to me) With your example I get that the discount on goods is 50% (very nice) and the mark up TTC is 67% to get a percentage benefit of 27% (not bad). But that is not at all what our Friend ET was asking I don’t think that he is that fortunate more like the para above (yet).   ET Yes your doing a lot to get your 15% benefit I’ll wager, so if you reach you limit €81,500 then you’ll have €12,225 net in your pocket…. (hhmmm).   I’m sure that there must be a better way.   O
11. Well at least someone cares to discuss. JK. I'm wanting to discuss the topic with anyone who has ideas about it - nothing wrong with that is there. Should I come right out and 'Tell all my answer', well no, and as for you tell me 'why it will not work' - I doubt that you could because no one else has been able to. (It seems that you just don't get it) I'm try to see if there is anyone who is thinking about this and can (like me) offer insights, because maybe you might think of some answer yourself to this perplexing question. That would be good for you now wouldn't it.  Eurotrash The TVA is on all goods bought by a anyone no matter what their regime, however AE (and Micro) cannot collect and therefore offset TVA, so its a cost - did you know that this was the result of buying and selling under AE? Cost of invoice -clumsy way to quantify some sort of cost to do business, in another example I have for SARL/TI this is the cost of Accounting (sometimes nearly €3000 divided by the number of invoices per year,) its a way of expressing at least one of fixed cost of doing business in this (over simplified) model Your last (very long) sentence is the most interesting yet (thank you)- why hasn't anyone in France done this before..... hhhhmmmm, maybe its because they haven't thought about it as we here are doing. Because I have asked the question!   O
12. So after 300 views there’s no one with any ideas.  Maybe this might raise a comment. Consider the scenario of an Auto entrepreneur who wants to purchase a product and sell it again to a customer for €100  The transaction might look something like this  An example to show the real situation for purchasing and resale of goods Value of goods sold   €100,00   Margin Delivery charges    €?      Total cost to client   €100+del     Cost of goods     €60,00   Margin (ave) +67%   €40,00 €40,00 TVA  (less) -19,6%   €11,76 €28,24 RSI cotesations (Turnover)(less) -23%   €23,00 €5,24 Cost of invoice (less) -? %       Margin Artisan  <5%   €5,24   TOTAL     €100,00 <€5,24     Ignoring the delivery for taking the project on even though the discount is 40% the earn is around (or less than in reality) 5%  One has to ask is that worth doing for such a poor margin. And if the discount goes any lower the result can in fact be negative.  Going back to an earlier poster who said that AE depends on a business model, which has low costs of operation. Clearly the main income must come from sell labour.  This situation must be improved because I think that there is another way of doing it.   O
13.
Oracle, you can't blame us for being suspicious, there have been many people post on here over the years who were actually touting for business in a very subtle way and I have to confess, the posting made me a bit wary. If you have a genuine solution to the big problem here, then good for you and I hope you can beat the system if only by a little bit.Its too late for us now as we are closing our entreprise but do know what it feels like to flog yourself to death and see nothing for it.
Your right to be suspicious! I've seen it here too. Quickest way to get a great solution is to ask the right question.  Then discuss.  That's what I'm try to do. Can anyone else come up with an answer? I've got one (I think, but I need to prove it), are there others?  At least now there is 200 people thinking about it (I hope)! I am the Oracle, but (sadly) not omipotent. So I ask for discussion (sorry for the melodrama) O
14. Yes, I suppose so. I am one of them.... and Val 2 and everyone else who has been devastated by the state, banks et al But nobody has contacted me to discuss so I guess its not so bad out there. O
15. Sprogster Noted and yes already done.... but I'm not doing anything such as you suggest. I'm discussing! I can tell you the question (but not the answer!) I know from personal experience that an SARL/EURL/TI does not add up as there is not enough left after all is paid which must be paid, unless the business has more than say €500k turnover (some times even then) I can see the problems with AE/Micro which has already been discussed, will not work if there are any sort of buisness expenses to be covered. But there are many benefits. Can these two been combined so that the best of both can be enjoyed and eliminating the worst? If its possible (and it may be possible) then it could be a suvival strategy. Ponder that!! O   I note over 100 views since this question started -  and 1100 since the beginning, whose looking I wonder? edit Yes Russelhouse its your job to cautious and I applaud that, but Nothing untoward is going on.
16. I do not think that I am in breach the code of conduct which I have read and know very well. If you read what I have said then you will see that I as offering to discuss a matter with forum member, just that I want to do it 'off forum', nowhere have I indicated that there is any financial commitment, nor will there be. So I cannot see that this contradicts forum code. The reason for that is that in order to 'test' the theory with practical situations it entails some personal information, which is not suitable for public disclosure and hence by participating the recipient would benefit from the 'knowledge' of the theory without broadcasting their affairs- this is not finacial advice in disguise, its quite different from that. So in summary, I am not selling anything, but I am asking for opinions concering a theory albeit in a confidential fashion. There are a lot, on the forum who are suspicious and they have a right to be, equally there are many others who, like me have put their heart an soul and sweat into an enterprise for years and have exactly NOTHING to show for it- except the satifaction of being legitimet, legal and 'paidup'. (that's nice but it doesn't make food for the table). This idea works for me but will it work for others, that is the question. There has to be a better way to live and work in France, if there is we all owe it to Society to look into it. O
17. No not so suspicious nor sinister. But a plan, which is copywrite and so should be kept within a confidential framework for the moment at least untill its completly public. But I can discuss parts of it. I'm working on this as a result of a business failure for the exact same reason as described by the previous posters. I didn't need a cacluator to decide that the numbers in my EURL just didn't add up, and so carrying on was madness and surley a path to ruin, I too got VERY bad advice. So I closed it. So now after a moment of clarity and a lot of expensive consultation with expert commercial lawyers and Accountants, the plan emerges and will soon go public. It saves between 30% and 40% in taxes, and is very simple to implement, but it does have parameters ouside which there is no benefit at all to the present status quo. So those posters who are curious can discuss with me directly and those who want to snip and snide will proably not. O
18. For those of you who are running a one or two man operation, I might have a solution which will allow you to continue working and survive in a more tax efficient way. PM me with your email and contact details and we can discuss the options. O
19. Are you sure that its algae....? That is, does the pool wall feel slippery  or 'tackie'. Are there any trees nearby, particularly pine trees? Is there any agriculture in the area. O
