1. Sounds like the "drop scones" my mum (Scottish) made You need one of these to cook them on though
  2. How about http://donnons.org/ ?
  3.
According to the pages jaune there is a forestiere in Rouffignac called Jean Duri. It doesn't say that he supplies firewood but it might be worth asking. If he doesn't sell it himself he may know someone who does. Hoddy
18no 150x150 or 200mm x 4.5m long those are big bits of firewood
  4.
Anglo Info - lot of scroungers on the local site here, all wanting something for nothing - even cars sometimes!
Of course, British people would never act like that, would they?
  5.
would do their homework and take the trouble to investigate the real situation.
But it's the Daily Mail.
  6. I'd second that. You'll get a far bigger audience and its free. http://www.leboncoin.fr
  7. Try http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/?portail=PJ Search for "Scierie de bois" Unless you can find someone near you who has had this requirement, I think this is the only way.
  8. If you need any more links try THIS
  9. There seem to be a few BMWs here (5167! ) http://motos.coches.net/ocasion/default.aspx

    Scam?

If you hover the mouse pointer over the suspect address (in Firefox & I.E) the real address underlying the link is shown in the bottom left hand corner of the browser. I would suggest if they don't match - then they're not legit (especially as yours has .co.uk in the address and .tk underlying)
  11. I have a neighbour here, who has a friend that lives in Canada. Every year, in winter the friend visits for a month to escape Canada's winter. We thought it a bit odd at first, until he told us the temperatures he was escaping.
  12.
What is a 'bunded tank' excuse my ignorance
It has a double skin, so that if the first one punctures the oil does not go flooding round the country.
  13.
What was 7,000 F worth in 1967, about the cost of a new MGB?[:-))][:'(]
In 1962 you could have bought an NSU Prinz 4, a Ford Anglia, a Simca 1000, a Renault R-8 or a VW 1200 with a little bit of change from your 7000 FF. 10000FF on the other hand would have bought you a BMC Mini Cooper :-)
  14. I'm sure you could get the pipe, but not so sure about threading the end. First time I've seen these - I use Axminster's aluminium cramps. I think if I wanted a longer length, I'd go for a clamp head set, like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Faithfull-Clamp-Heads/dp/B0001P05J0 which fit on a length or two of wood (available anywhere :-) )
  15.
The house is in Dordogne so I know pipes and all sorts may be frozen. Can anyone tell me if the pipes are indeed frozen, I assume there wouldn't be floods until the water thaws?
Just because pipes are frozen does not mean they are burst. I have frozen pipes in the house now - I can use the dishwasher but not the sink, shower or toilet downstairs. Unfortunately defrosting them means taking the insulation off - and they'll just freeze again overnight.

  18.
Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter.
But only in the USA :-) or is his prediction worldwide?

I want to put wooden shutters on the big back window but the walls are round ..... what options do I have as they are going to stick out alot if straight ... dont want metal roll up type ...would like to keep rustic looking
The window frame is  not curved though is it? Put the shutters as close to the frame as possible?
  21.
What is a mom & pops restaurant ?
mom-and-pop [only before noun] American English a mom-and-pop business is owned and managed by a family or a husband and wife: a real mom-and-pop restaurant http://www.ldoceonline.com/Business%2520Basics-topic/mom-and-pop
  22. To return to the original post and show that it's not just France.......... Somehow one of the hubcaps on my trailer cracked and fell off. Its a bit of plastic that covers the nut that holds the wheel hub on. I knew I stood no chance of getting one here, so phoned the manufacturer. they told me to phone their suppliers, which I did. Yes, we have those they are 75p each. Fine I said, how much to send to France? Ooh, thats our export department, let me put you through. Fortunately for me they were out. I said to the first guy - How much to post to the UK then? £5.99
