1. Jean - so sorry to hear about your mother. but just to let you know I delivered Ursa to her lovely new home this afternoon. I collected her from the SPA yesterday (and the 24 hours she was there she shared her box with a young puppy who arrived the day you collected her) She spent the night with my 4 - no problems at all. She has 2 new friends now - another girl Griffon and a boy Labrador, who accepted her straight away. She already knows her new owners as they walked her several times at the SPA earlier in the summer. Dog Links is up to speed with all this.
2. Free to a good home - Three 7 year old Jacob ewes living in the Creuse (23) are looking for a new home. They are registered (ie all the correct ear tags) and produce beautiful fleeces. The owner's circumstances have changed (husband died) so she is trying to reduce her livestock numbers. If you are interested in more info / photos, please let me know.
3. My husband registered his Harley here with screaming eagle exhausts and we had no problems. However he has since changed to regular pipes as we attract far less attention when out on rides round the quiet countryside! Also he has been stopped a couple of times by the Gendarmes (once to tell him his number plate did not comply with French regs - it is smaller than it should be so that it fits the Harley plate holder). The loud pipes would have been one more thing for the police to complain about - needless to say my husband misses his screaming eagles. Our chapter (Limoges Country Chapter) has over 100 members and only a handful have loud pipes.
4. I know your current stray dog problem is sorted but for future reference the mairie of each commune is legally responsible for dealing with stray dogs. It is up to them to arrange to keep it for up to 2 weeks whilst trying to locate the owner. Many mairies will pass dogs on to the local SPA if the SPA is willing to take the dogs. When I have been lumbered with a stray (I am a local councillor in my commune so stray dogs are directed to me as I also work for my local SPA) I take them to my vet to check the owner via the tatoo if there is one and also for microchips. Vets have direct computer access to the Central Canine to check on ownership if the dog is tattoed or chipped.
5. Milly the 4 year old wire haired fox terrier is looking for a new home. Her owners have split up and she has to spend all day shut in the house while her owner is at work. She is used to cats and other dogs, is very affectionate and bouncy. She lives in the Creuse and would love to hear from you if you would like to more info or would like to meet her.
