Many thanks for suggestions - have some oil based paint so will try that.

We have had a leak from a shower which has resulted in a brown water stain on the original plaster coving of the room below.  I seem to remember being told that if you paint over the stain it will merely return through the paint.  Is this true and if so can anyone advise how to overcome the problem?   Many thanks

We have a 200 yr old house in the Tarn.  All rooms had lovely vinyl wallpaper on them!  Underneath this in one room is a caramel coloured paint (patchy) under which is a pale blue powdery 'distemper'.  Does any one have any experience on the best way to stabilise this surface prior to re-wallpapering.  Can it be stabilised with weak wallpaper paste solution or should it be removed, if so how?   Many thanks   Tarn Addict

I have been told that the new regs also state that a pool must be more the 10/15/20 metres from any boundary (not sure which!) Can anyone confirm if this is so and which distance it is! Thanks    

We have bought a habitable village house approx. 25 mins east of Albi, near the border with Aveyron.  We have had the rewiring and replumbing completed and  now need a plasterer to repair a number of walls and ceilings (not Placoboard)!  Any recommendations?
