  1. I just wanted to say a big thank you to the kind people who sent me wool for the blankets, I am putting it to very good use and have several finished blankets to give to Rowan this week. Also thnaks to the lady who sent some beautiful knitted 'diamonds' to BJC and which I have sewn together -the dog who gets this blanket will be really lucky! If anyone else has any oddments of wool -no matter how little I would still be very grateful to receive it. Thank you!
  2. Belle went to a new home yesterday which is wonderful news. She was delighted to be there and will hopefully have a long and very happy life with her new family. A huge Thank You to BJC who worked so hard to try and find her a new home and to Rowan who found the family to take her, also to Merlin for all her support. The other people who offered help have all been really kind too. You are all brilliant.
  3. Thank you for that Russethouse. Merlin has offered to post pictures for me which is really kind of her.
  4. I adopted abeautiful female dog from the SPA at Carcassonne but unfortuantely my existing male has become very jealous of her and although he hasn't attacked her is not at all happy in the house with her around. Outside he just keeps away from her but is obviously completely 'pushed out' by her arrival. I don't want either of them to suffer this so am wondering if anyone at all could offer her a loveing home? She is 5 years old, the most affectionate and loving dog you could ever hope to meet who would make the most wonderful companion. My French neighbour said she was a 'hunt dog' I would say a Breton spaniel cross griffon? She is about knee height, white with brown markings and gorgeous. I don't have pictures at the moment - idon't know how to load them on the site but if anyone wants any they can pm me and I willsend photos by email. I am going to have to take Belle back to the SPA if I can't find anuyone to give her the love she deserves and which I was hoping I could give her here.
  5. Three cheers for Merlin and also Rowan -for ALL they do on behalf of the dogs who need help - brilliant.
  6. She is gorgeous. What a lovely happy ending. Congratulations Rowan -you must be delighted. She look so happy!

    Please help!

I am knitting blankets for the SPA refuge in Carcassonne and wondered if anyone has any oddments of wool that they can spare and could possibly send me please? It doesn't matter how small a quantity -every little would help and be much appreciated. Hopefully it will bring a bit of comfort to those dogs who are not lucky enough to have found a lovely, warm and secure home yet. Many thanks - in hopeful anticipation!

Hopefully it will help to make the coming winter a bit more comfortable for the dogs who haven't yet been given the chance of a warm fireside to sleep by. Thank you -in hopes!
  9. My heart is melted just looking at the postings on here. I had to work really hard to get the dog we have now...husband didn't want a dog at all....guess who is now completely in love with him? And who the dog chooses to sit with?! I'll keep trying -and enlist the help of friends - but don't think I'm going to have much luck.
  10. Thanks Merlin for your message. I'm useless at anything technical -so have to reply via here! I promise to start knitting for you today. Such a shame as I sent a lot of knitted squares back to UK recently with a friend - still for charity -but not dogs which I would have much preferred... Just wanted to say how much I admire what you and all the other kind people are doing to help the animals. I am desperately trying to persuade husband to let us rescue a dog from Carcassonne but he refuses to budge....grrr. We already have one that we adopted from Beziers (before I knew about Carcassonne) and I'm sure he would love to have a friend. Wish I could do something to help but maybe the knitted squares will bring a bit of comfort to some.
  11. I have only just joined the forum and started reading all the posts. I wonder do you still need knitted squares? i would be really happy to help if you can let me know where they can be sent. If we can bring some extra comfort and warmth for the poor dogs who don't have a loving home then I'm happy to knit myself silly!
