1.
Crabtree, when the SIM does arrive, it will surely have some address on it? When you got your livebox and other stuff for your system, was there a return address on the packaging? Thanks!
When I got a new Livebox I had to go to my local Point Relais with my old Livebox. The guy at the relais opened the box he received with my name on it, and neatly packed inside was the new Livebox in it's box. He then placed my old Livebox in the original box and sealed it. He then lifted the address label with my details on it and underneath it stuck to the box was the return label. I had  nothing to do except sign for the new Livebox! I cannot see any address details for Sosh on anything I have from them!
 2.
Good morning, everybody! I am back because, in my usual super efficient fashion, I managed to sign up for the wrong deal.  I got to consult one of their advisors on-line and we agreed that I would cancel the contract and that I will start again with the package I want after 6 days (don't know why 6 days).  The very pleasant-sounding person said she would do le nécessaire for cancellation. However and just to be on the safe side, I have printed out the formulaire de rétraction and now need an address to send it to.  I could only find an address in Paris but I think that is the office sosh is registered to and not their admin centre.  So, Sue, Dave and others who may have factures to refer to, could you please provide me with an address so that I can send off the form and then I'd have spoken to someone AND written as well!  Talk about belt-and-braces!  I reckon that in France it's perhaps best to have belt AND braces AND strong knicker elastic.
I cannot see any address on my 'factures'! Maybe it is the same as for Orange if someone has that.
 3. sosh.fr   mobile + Livebox 29.99€ per month includes mobile phone line and internet with free calls from home. Currently on offer for 24.99€. No rental of Livebox. Livebox will tell you it is part of Orange - their cheap option. Been with them 2.5 years, very good.
 4. Maybe I should have been clearer. I also got the Eurodatacar cover with my new car. When the renewal invitation came I sent the cancellation letter.
 5. I received my renewal recently. I just put a cancellation letter in the pre-paid reply envelope. About 10 days later I got a confirmation that my account had been closed.
 6. What version are you on? Click Help then About. Latest version is 38.6. You can download here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all/
 7.
OK - I'm a dumbo when it comes to this modern techno - so guidance in simple words of one syllable much appreciated. I need to download statements to print out from my UK bank. This pc is running Windows  7 HP. I am unable, totally unable to download and print bank statements at the moment. My bank uses - Microsoft Money97 (ofc file) Microsoft Money (ofx file) Quicken 2001 onwards (ofx file) Sage Line 50 (ofx file) Microsoft Excel, Lotus 123, Text (CSV file) - NONE of which is here on my pc, not one flippin' one. Now I've tried to download my bank statements;  they 'seem' to be read by AdobeAcrobat - but when I try to open and print I get the message 'can't be read - error 00000---- or file has been damaged'. Desperately need to print these statements.   Seems as though I have to download some programme first;  Microsft Money97 not avail;  Microsft Money/Sun ofx - doesn't seem to allow printing of bank statements. Does anyone have a recommendation on which programme I should download, to run on Windows 7, - for free (if poss 'cos I'm not likely to want to do this again); and which will definitely let me download and print off my bank statements - but which will be easy to download - and easy to use. :Please, clever techie bods - I'm in a bit of a hole here, and need help - please. Thanks - Chessie
Libre Office (for free) has an Excel program called Calc. This will open CSV, and many other files. Available to download here.
 8. Thanks for the clarification - a few years for me to get that then!
 9.
This year my wife broke an ankle falling off a bicycle while on holiday in Spain. Emergency treatment and was covered by her EHIC and the cost of medicines bought there, including a quite expensive course of injections, was refunded in full by the NHS, so cost less than if we'd been in France[:D]
May I ask, are you resident in France. If so how do you have a UK EHIC card?
 10. Change to www.sosh.fr This is Orange's cheap option. You can get what you have now for 24.99€ (normally 29.99€) a month, including a mobile phone SIM. This includes the rental of the Livebox, Internet, Landline and Mobile Phone Lines and Orange Internet TV available on computers and mobiles, which you can connect to TV if you want (5€ a month more if you actually want the full Orange TV offer). Landline includes calls to most countries and French Mobiles. Mobile Line includes 2 hours of calls to French numbers. You can also use their mobile App to use your landline phone! You can change to it very easily. The only slight downside is that most customer service is done on-line (a phone option is also available), but there is no English speaking helpline. Their on-line chat customer service is very good, and you can use a translator in another window, so you can copy & paste if your French is not up to it! If you want more info, please PM me.
 11.
Many channels have changed transponders over the last few days, it is possible a rescan may find them. It is because Astra 2G is now in service, and all channels that were on the old Eutelsat at 28.2/28.5 have (or will be moved this week) to Astra 2E or 2F or 2G. Many will use the same frequencies, so you may not notice any change with some channels. However quite a number are/will be on new transponders, and unless you have a Freesat or $ky box you may well have to rescan to find them. Also, some that were previously on a European beam, will now be on a UK beam, including the Freesat EPG.
Exactly as I said a week ago!

 13. In anticipation of the upcoming withdrawal of Eutelsat at 28.2E, a number of 'minor' channels have already migrated to 2F, some onto the UK spot beam. Some of these are CBS Drama, True Entertainment, True Movies and more (including some $ky encrypted channels).
 14. Another new bird has gone up, and many channels will be on the move soon. Maybe they are doing tests in preparation.
 15.
Shouldn't be if you have been with Orange for 12 months or more. There is, if you read the small print (and it is very small), a 50 Euro exit fee from Sosh even though it is not contract type account and you can leave whenever you want. There is no English speaking helpdesk either.
If you want to leave SOSH and go (or return) to Orange there is no charge. If you want to go to other ISPs, nearly all of them offer to pay the 'get out' fees of your current ISP when you join them. You are right about the English speaking help desk, however you can use a translator when using SOSH's 'chat' so not a problem. That said I recently 'chatted' with SOSH, and was asked if I preferred to use English (so sometimes the French will be helpful!).
 16.
Interesting. Presume there's penalties for closing Orange account?
I believe that if you move to SOSH from Orange there will be no fees (as they are basically the same company).
 17. If you are already with Orange go to their cheaper web only sister, www.sosh.fr, and you can sign up online, and you will get a mobile line thrown in, and it will be cheaper than Orange. You will need to select the mobile + Livebox offer.
 18.

where for 29.99€ you will get all the Orange Internet & Calls offer (plus calls to French mobiles from VOIP line), plus a mobile line (SIM card) with 2 hours of calls a month. The Livebox is included in this price (so no 3€ a month to add on).
Does the Calls part include the international calls too? I have a sister in Aussy and family in the U.K. and it would be a no brainer to change if it doesn't.
It includes all the international destinations you will get if you were on an Orange tariff.
 19.
Sorry to be a pain, it was a 12 month contract with Orange and taken out nearly 3 years ago so out of contract. If I sign up with a new provider do I have to cancel with Orange or does the new supplier handle all of that?
Regarding the line check, I would suggest that you first log out of your Orange account, then do the check. If that does not work, if you want to send me your phone number by PM, I will try it for you. If you move to SOSH you will not have to cancel anything with Orange. If you move to another provider you may well have to, using a registered letter. If you move to another provider I would advise a cancellation letter just to be on the safe side!
 20.

Crabtree, was going to phone the Orange English helpline - are there separate contacts for sosh?
SOSH is a completely on-line service. You contact them on-line, easy to use, and if you do not speak too much French, you can just copy and paste from a translator. That is the good thing of having the mobile line as well, as if you have a problem you can still contact them. I hope this is not going to put the spanner in the works, but I have been with them for a year without any problem. I have spoken to them on-line using their 'chat' and everything went very smoothly. To sign up go here: http://boutique.orange.fr/sosh-mobile-livebox, click in the yellow box "Tester votre ligne ou votre adresse", and then follow the prompts.
I don't want to come across as being sarcastic but if your router or line is down how do you 'chat' to them if it is only an online service? I have to say this is something I didn't know before and had I got as far as signing up this would have put me off. With Orange at least I can call them on my mobile and speak to a person. As a matter of interest more for the second home users do they have a turn off and turn on service like Orange so you can have the whole thing turned off /disconnected when in the UK and only pay for when you ask it to be put on/reconnected again when you come over?
That is why I mentioned that the mobile line is handy. You contact them (by internet or phone) using the mobile, which of course is a completely different line (being mobile) and not a landline. I should have said there is a telephone number to call if you need, but I am not aware of an English speaking helpline. But then we are in France, where they speak French! In relation to the second home question I cannot help, as, like many, I live here permanently.
