  1. This week's pub for Bricodepot (AGH) 45 coffrets de communication avec barrettes de terre et 2 rails DIN. I repartiteur TV?SAT 4 sorties  avec fiche F . 1 DTI prise RJ45. 1 reglette 12 plots pour repartition telephonique. The make is F&G and the cost is € 59. Which is about what they should cost. Appologies for typing left glasses at work and arms not long enough theses days.
  2. You have protect cyclists against running into the gap between tow hitch and mudgard
  3. Just a test to see if Control C and Control V work for me. Just a test to see if Control C and Control V work for me. It did but Internet Explorer asks if I want to allow the clipboard access to this page.
  4. I agree with the regional cost of property argument. Might also be worth checking out removal and storage in the part of France you are moving to.
  5. A new type registration must be issued when the car has a new owner or changes address. After that the number is attached to the car for life.
  6. As far as I am aware a standard bare coffret with an ADSL separator and co axial connector bar can be assembled for under € 100 and does meet the NFs. Unless the electricity has been disconnected and there needs to be a CONSUEL inspection then the new NFs on telecoms are advisory rather than compulsory.
  7. The idea that anybody from Yorkshire would pay for another room for a colleague when there was space and separate bed in his room demonstrates just how deep the North South divide is
  8. Technically the channels are Free To Air rather than Free To View. Probably part of a deal to with the rights owners of programmes to try to limit viewing to countries which the broadcasters had purchased rights for. Same set up the UK had say 10 years ago before BBC, then ITV then C4 then C5 went FTV rather than FTA. Failing that 'The Answers Just Because" . The broadcasters are sendinging a n encypted signal and without a card in the receiver it will not decode the programmes.
  9. 'Simple' in the context mean a digital satellite receiver without a card slot. Until recently you could receiver every terrestrial TV chanel except TF1 without a Fransat receiver using one of these. If you put your computer mouse over the blue underlined text in my first post and click the left button you will be linked to the Fransat web site which has a list of FTA channels which you will receive for no further cost is you purchase a a Fransat receiver. As soon as you can buy a Fransat receiver which comes with a viewing card. As far as I am aware nobody supplies these mail order to UK.
  10. Probably the easiest solution is http://www.fransat.fr/ a decoder will cost about € 99, Leroy Merlin and FNAC stock them but you may find them in other Hypermarkets and French DIY sheds. You cannot use a simple FTA digital receiver as the box needs a viewing card. You simple disconnect the old box and replace it with a fransat box. The alternative is Canal Plus / TNT Par satellite and involves realigning the dish.
  11. Your choices are Fransat or TNT par satellite. Google htem to have a read through what is available.
  12. There have been expansible but after the Apple II which probably was the ultimate open machine the company ethos has not been toward open machines and my experience remains that Apple buyers buy their machines to do a job.  My last two PCs have been off the shelf, the only drive to purchase was that I needed to run the latest versions on Word, Powerpoint and Excel. It is no longer cost effective to do anything much with PCs. Prior to that Golem began life as an 80186 Research Machine and ended up as a Pentium. Along the way clock ram cards, video cards, modems, ethernet adaptors, hard disks power supplies all came and went infact everything bar the case changed. The only occasion I have ever had to strip a Mac was to remove a chip in order to install it in a portable clone. Slightly ditzy MD who wanted a portable but could only work with Macs.
  13. Short answer Apples work straight out of the box and since the Apple III have not had any space inside them for people to plug in stuff to change the way they behave. The operating system is just that rather than a shell dragging legacy problems, when Apple change OS they do just that rather than leaving odd bits of the past embedded. Owned various PCs over the last 30 odd years, always bought PCs rather than Apples for price to performance reasons, but always liked using Apples when I have my hands on one. I suspect the journey in the other direction is horrid. Also in general Apple error messages mean what they say and Apple help screens are eponymous. 90% of PC error messages describe the symptom not the cure.  Result people use Apples do just that and never have to develop any technical expertise. Rather like people who run a BMW mini rather than the original.
  14. The push buttons are bouton-poussoir as opposed to two way switches / Va et Vient. There are two wires to a possoir as oppsed to three to a VetV. When the button is pushed it completes a circuit and the current flows via a telerupteur to neutral. The telerupteur which is a relay flips on or off each time the current passes through it when a poussoir is pressed. The power output from the telerupter then fows to the lamp or lamps through the bulb and hence back via neutral. http://entraidelec.com/schema-6-Allumage-par-Boutons-Poussoirs-telerupteur.html The four terminals on the telerupteur are : Power in from a  disjointer divisionnaire Power to light fitting Feed from possoirs Neutral for feed from Poussoirs back to the disjoiter divisionnaire.  The above assumes a simple telerupteur unipolaire.
  15. We handed over a disk of photos showing the house clean and in summer. I can and do look past the decor but uncleared washing up and clothes on the floor ?
  16. If Radio has an coaxial socket fit something like : http://www.bricodepot.fr/bordeaux/node/468249 If it does not see if it has any external aeriel socket if so try a suitable indoor wire If it does not have one of those then move it round the house.
  17. Irish friend claims he used to do the 180 degree turn and back through toll booths.[:)]
  18. Customer service OK - levels of authority in Bordeaux awful. Three years ago there was an IKEA family offer on a very flash kitchen tap €120 versus book price € 180. Out of stock, was assured by the kitchen department it would still be €120 when they received the stock. Six weeks latter answer 'phone message that it had been delivered. Picked up from the kitchen department again assured price would be OK. Passed through tills at € 180, hostees de la caise said just take it to the returns area they will refund the extra. First part took 20 minutes. First line of defence the offer only applied to Family members who joined that day. Second line of defence it only applied to items picked up that day. Much to my amazement I had printed a screen dump of the IKEA offer which contained the full terms and conditions. It then took 40 minutes to find anybody with the authority to refund the €60. rather than refund by credit card they returned €60 in notes. Very sad to see the door to the training room which used to be labeled 'Malmo' just repainted plain blue. Also miss the sign in bedding 'If you want any assistance in trying the beds place ask one of our staff'
  19. I find most French radio stations have less than a dozen CDs which they are only allowed to change when they are worn out. Suspect it is much more likely that gig is coming up sometime in the next few months.
  20. The Bull Ring is gone ! That wrecks one of my favourite Harvey Andrew's lyrics.
  21. A quick pole in our house produced - Dehli or Mumbai - Aden or Kampala as candidates but Corfu won on points.
  22. If anybody has found French insurance on an all risks basis would be grateful to know with whom.
