  1. I like to think I'm quite techy, but I'm not certain about this one! We're on Wanadoo, and are supposed to get 10mb, but on average we're getting all of 1.2, since this started, the wi fi has started dropping out. It never does it when we're getting anything near what we pay for, but as soon as it goes below 2Mbs, the Wi Fi statrs to fail. Am I right in assuming that if the incoming bitrate gets too low, Wi Fi will cease to function, or is this a dual problem? Ta
  2. Many thanks for that, there's an RS not far away!  I was thinking of Adsil, but that evaporates with time, so I'll give this a go, though I may not try it on my boots, they're suede!
  3. Mine lives in a plastic junction box, on top of the motor, where the wires come in to be connected to the feed. This is set underground, right next to the pool, the lid being part of the decking, so when people get out, or dive in , the water can go through it to the workings below. I queried this with the local installer (it was in when we brought, so not the company that installed the pool), and they said it was fine/normal, although if it REALLY rains, and the pool over flows, guess where it goes!!!??
  4. It is, inside a very basic bi-mental switch, which has to be within a certain distance of the motor to ensure that it can switch the motor off, if it overheats, I didn't think silicon would insulate against heat to that extent, but as I say, as I have five now, I should be ok anyway!
  5. I asked it I could do that, got a five page tech spec sheet and the instruction "NO!!", although I cannot think why!
  6. Oh I will!! The part number is 3MP 1E 16301 and I managed to track them down to a Dutch company, who offered to send me some "samples", they arrived from China. Five should out last the pump, rather than the other way around!!! No way of waterproofing them though!
  7. Just got five of the little devils direct from the manufacturer in China, 10 cents each, much much better than a new pump at 500Euros!!
  8. Did it download and install Garmin Communicator? Doesn't seem to want to do anyhting without that.
  9. Once logged in, go, Garmin, - Home- Garmin Extras- Sevices- Eco Route. There are three tabs on the page, one for compatibility, annother , and an install tab, should be pretty easy from there, should be!!!
  10. I might not plug mine in for a while then, I like it as it is, maybe they've put it back as it was now!!!
  11. Gary, as "out of the box". When it was new it did exactly as you describe, then I did a firmware update direct from Garmin, and it now behaves as I described! I was slightly wrong, under the speed limit, green box, one beep. Over the speed limit, red box, and a repeating bleep. The only downside is this only works if you have the voice prompts switched on, which I tend not to have, but there are seperate volumes. Garmin do have a habit of changing the basic workings for no real reason, usually getting rid of the useful stuff in favour of bits and bobs you's never use! The one thing mine does, and quite accurately, is work out fuel consumption/carbon foot print/trip costs. It's a free down load from Garmin called Ecoroute, which adds "most economical route" to the route types menu. Our drive home from the UK is about 650 miles, and this option saved us over thirty pounds!!!!! Down side? the pronounciations of French names on the text to speak, hilarious!!!
  12. Mine is a Garmin 265W, with full European "safety camera" database. The alarm only goes off (and shows the camera warning box in red) IF the unit is registering that you are over the speed limit for that camera location. If you are under the speed for said camera location, the warning box appears, but in green, and no audible alarm. This unit also shows the speed limit for most roads on screen (a facsimile of a road sign in the corner) regardless if there is a camera on that road.
  13. Jason gets on and off himself, he has incredible strength in his arms, always did, just more so now. Idon't know what he does when arrives at his distination, probably rides the bike straight in!
  14. I did post these before, but it's fitting they go here too, my firiend Jason Watt, one time F3000 champion, and SINCE his accident, Dutch Touring car champion. He was to have driven for Williams in F1, until the accident. 15. As an aside, we've been on Tempo since we brought, over six years ago, and were told Tempo was no longer being offered to new customers, and only being honoured to those who already have it. Is it still seen as a good cheap tariff???
  16. You may doubt it, but try telling it to my very very old mini battery that should have gone to the scrap yard over six years ago, and which now happily powers the alarm on my garage door!!! Likewise, alarm systems on cars and bike will take every last bit of power out of a battery, which is what happened to my XJR1200 battery, and that is fine now, after it was "Optimated". I'll leave you to your opinion, and I'll just use the batteries!!!
  17. I'm guessing it will be all down to different peoples experiences, but.... I have used Optimate battery chargers for years. My motor bike sits more than it's ridden (sadly) and the Optimate, keeps the battery charged by simulating the bike being ridden, not just charging it. I have known Optimates "bring back" batteries that I was told to bin, thats dead cells, shorted plates, all sorts. never had anything but good out of the things!!
  18. German? Wurth, expensive but absolutely brilliant, never known thier products not to work! And no, I don't work for them, I was introduced to them while an apprentice at Rolls-Royce.  The RTV Silicone would be clear as opposed to coloured though. The smell, usually "vinegary" is the chemical that keeps it liquid evapourating out, once the smell has gone, it's usually pretty much cured hence RTV, Room Tempreature Vulcanising (if any of that is spely right!).
  19. Having posted about the pros and cons of switching to Google Chrome, I found it had a conflict with my AV, which allowed my laptop to pick up a nasty. Fortunatley I had recently backed the thing up, and did a reset to "out of the box" spec, and recovered the set up from the DVDs I burnt. Switched back to Firefox, and surprise surprise, the things that didn't work now do 100%. I'm slightly dissapointed, not with the AV conflict (I should have seen what had happened), but with the fact Chrome looked good, had some good features, but just failed to connect so often, the wifi switching off glitch and other foibles. One or two little things you can live with/sort out, but Chrome 3, or 4 just doesn't seem to have been tested thoroughly enough. As I say, back to Firefox, and EVERYTHING is working again!!

All my other passwords have worked as per, but not this, even forgetting a new one overnight. Is this me, or are there other suffers??
