  1. I would suggest the carp park at Castorama, there is only one Castorama in Agen and it would mean you could say perhaps simply meet in the main Foyer where they have fireplaces on show, if it rains you are under cover, also means you can be outside under the veranda should the dog want to be with you.. and not only but also there is a great place to eat at Carrefour restaurant which is next door!! Good luck.
  2. Simon...thank you. Does anyone know if 'declaration for Meubles de Tourisme (gites) on Cerfa Form 14004'..... does it have to be filled in anew every year!!!
  3. Perhaps this will make you smile or cry!! I walked into CA yesterday with bankers draft in my hand from Australia for the value of €100.00...... it will take 4 days to clear and cost me!!!!!! €23.45 to place it in my current account they are b******* all banks!
  4. In case EmilyA's post from last May should prompt confusion a reminder ............ when referring to DECLARATION EN MAIRIE DES MEUBLES DE TOURISME This link states the law it is not optional and has nothing to do with classification at the prefecture (which is still optional at the moment). The responsibility is with the accommodation owner to be aware you certainly will not be informed by the Mairie as some are not up to speed. This is the French way of doing things...end of story. click the pdf file within this link and fill it in take it to the Marie and do not leave the building without a receipt of the said form or they will give you the certificate showing the Marie "stamp". http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/R14321.xhtml
  5. Sometimes you will see Kaki's small and always will be , the better kaki's are large fruits which means that the kaki was grafted to a host perhaps an apple tree. So do be aware when buying and go for the quality grafted tree....look for the notch that has taken the graft. Our hens adore kaki!!!!!!!!
  6. What with the postage cost a killer for eg Quote "English Greeting Cards"; P&P rates are €1.15 for one card, with an increment of €0.25 per additional card, up to a maximum postal charge of €4.90 for any number of cards. As we always post using the prioritaire postal rates, we do not pass on the full cost of P&P to our customers. I tend to go for this free one and then make my own cards for family on the computer. http://www.123greetings.com/
  7. Others I know have used these http://www.englishgreetingscards.com/ and are very pleased. They are based close to Caunes Minervois in the Aude department of France.
  8. This does not look so good for some... Money Box has learned that Crown Currency Exchange has had its bank account frozen by Barclays to protect its creditors. Unlike most retail foreign currency dealers, Crown allowed customers to buy their currency up to a year in advance.
  9. Good Morning eveyone. There was I in bed having been awoken by hubby getting in bed from having fallen asleep downstairs watching the bowls on TV ( not surprised he fell asleep, its like watching grass grow!), so I thought get up and say hello to "the girls" and everyone is asleep! Well, the kettles on. A lovely thread. Quite spooky really, I feel as though I have known you all for ages having followed the thread since it started. Hope you dont mind me saying hello.
  10. Having gained so much useful info over the years its time I put something back to the Gite post's!! Having spoken with other gite owners in another area of France who were targeted in Nov 2009 with calls following the same pattern as I received Dec and again yesterday. She starts by saying that we are lucky to have our gite chosen out of thousands !!that as a representative of a googles marketing strategy they can guarantee our gite being on the first page of google, doh!!! she waffles on at length but goes cold as soon as you ask for en email explaining all thats on offer. No e mail arrives , then another call, she acts surprised I have not received the email and says I need to make a quick decision, I reply... send an e mail. No e mail arrives. I am aware of 2 people that sadly took the offer up!! the heard nothing after having sent the payment! So be aware, it is a scam.
