  1. hi Folks.Am now awaiting my Carte Grise for a 1992 Lunar caravan in Dept85!It has taken 6 months of persistance(polite),help from Knott of Germany supplying by return the axle and brake calculations,NO help from the National Caravan Council who wouldnt reply to letter or emails,NO help from Lunar who dont have their chassis details(allegedly)Many letters to DRIRE at La Roche sur Yon,and following their request(demand) for an independent gas and electric inspection-cost180euros,it then took 8 weeks to finally get the appointment for inspection at DRIRE.Passed with flying colours, but had to stamp the makers plate details onto the chassis alonside the plate at DRIRE!I also have to make another plate to set dimensions etc,and rivet same onto chassis.I will then get the CG with the new registration number, have a new number plate made and VOILA!We have also arranged to join the French Federation of camping so as to arrange better insurance more apropriate for France. Good Luck just persevere.Dennis
  2. My wife suffers from this underactive condition, for which in U.K meant an annual blood test, and 6 monthly prescriptions(free) for thyroxine. However our doctor in France will ony prescribe for 2 months supply, and requests a blood test every other visit. Is this normal practise,or is it a case of "self protection" on behalf of the doctor.Just curious. Thanks for any info.Dennis
  3. Had my tax forms returned yesterday, the first for us,and included was yet a differnt form 2047 which the local office did not give me the first time round.does anyone know of an easy way to translate the questions on forms 2047 and 2042.The lady at our local tax office is unobtainable until next week and then I have to make an appointment. It was marked for urgent reply back,so they can eventually send the FRA2 back to Nottingham for the tax repayment.Although retired,am only 61 yrs old and we are living qietly on my works pension. No other finacial income or investments. Thanks for any replies, Dennis

  5. Does any knowlegeable person into entymology kindly tell me what the ugly black beasties are that live in our "lawn".They really win the coconut for ugly and are about 25mm long, and disappear backwards down their burrow which is angled into the ground,at the first sight of a size 10 approaching! Are they harmless or harmfull?Any help gratefully received here in the S.E Vendee. Dennis
  6. Does anyone know of the legality of towing with my now French registerd Laguna,a friends English caravan that he would like to store on my land in the vendee. We could borrow the caravan in lieu of rental. The caravan is insured in the UK but included for travel within the EEC.Thanks for any advice, Dennis
  7. Just had a letter from the Prefecture re change of driving licenses This is to avoid gendarmerie problems with addresses,in the likelihood of a spot check.Cant really understand the French, babelfish cannot produce a constructive translation in any known language, but it appears that because I have 3 points marked on the license, expunged ater over 3 years, this has caused the local prefecture to hiccup, and to apparently refuse to change the license to a French one.Has anyone any more experiences of this type of thing and the way out to satisfy both sides?
  8. Cansomeone please tell us what the fish marked as "julienne" is please? And very nice too! Thanks, Dennis
