I've been using Les Minutes for over 5 years now.... http://www.lesminutes.com/Redirect/Home.asp?partner=lesminutes_uk
Thats interesting that's Budget telecome,AKA teleconnect. Hmmmm. Don't tell AnOther
Hell, I work for Orange....sometimes the other guys are better/cheaper :)
 2. "Maxi Minutes" does seem to be a lot more interesting than "Minutes 3111" but the 3111 is toll-free while the "Maxi Minutes" charges for the price of a local call. Of course this doesn't make any difference if you're local calls are already free. Remember, these aren't two different offers that you sign up to. Once you have money on your account then you can use whichever you like. I tend to stick with 3111 because it recognises the telephone number I dial from (entered on their website) and so I get a dial-tone automatically while with Maxi it asks me for my 4-digit passcode first.

 4.
I took the plunge and bought a months subscription to iportal. They're very good, they give you the first day free......
I signed up to Iportal also (€5 for 1 month) but will go back to ukivpn who allow me to use the same login several times from the same household.
 5.
It's not a great deal of money really, but if there's an fee alternative, then of course, I'm going down that route. However, what I have a problem with if it's illegal. I wouldn't be that happy paying for this if the UK networks aren't in agreement with this.
There is; http://thefreevpn.com/ I doubt that useing a VPN service to access Iplayer is legal at the moment but at the same time I don't know how much the BBC cares about the problem. CatchupTV says that from Dec 19th they will be streaming all UK Freeview channels for free without the need of a proxy/vpn so maybe hold off on paying for a yearly vpn service until then and stick to Freevpn.
 6. I thought I'd create a new thread for this rather than adding it to the end of the current Iplayer thread. Mods please feel free to move it elsewhere...   For the past year now I've used a VPN service UKIVPN to watch live UK television. It cost me €35 a year and the service was excellent; no downtime - could connect several computers in the same household with the same account at the same time and generally got replies to my e-mails within hours. My year is up and now I see that their price has increased to €55 with a 5Gb cap (not good for watching high quality BBC Iplayer streams) so I looked elsewhere and found the following : Jack_TV is a small program (3Mb) for Windows-based PCs that allows one to access British Freeview chanels without the need of a VPN service. When it works it's an excellent piece of software though because it's free and because the sources of the channels can sometimes change it's not 100% reliable. (currently the sound on BBC1 and ITV1 is dodgy but will be fixed on Dec 2nd). But as I said, 'cos it's free I guess we can't really complain  [:)] So if anyone is interested I suggest to give it a try. I like the fact that you have access to all channels from the same application which allows you to zap/flic as you would in front of a TV. If anyone wants to give it a try and has problems I'll try to help out in any way I can.
 7.
All the password and login details are the same for everyone though. I signed up twice with different accounts and got identical login details.
I see...so you used 2 different e-mail accounts to get 2 different Iportal accounts and received the same login details ?  Interesting.... It looks though that when the service goes 'live' that you won't be able to connect several machines at once (as is the case now)...
 8.
When I log on and off iPortal, my SFR-Neuf connection icon shows "identification" for a few seconds, but I don't know the ramifications...
Mine does the same for pretty much any VPN service like Iportal. This is just a feature of Iportal. Other VPN services allow you to log in from multiple computers which are behind the same router (We often have Strictly Come Dancing and X-factor on at the same time on Sat evenings) :) By the way, the Iportal beta seems to be over. New sign-ups get the following error message "Your account could not be created: Beta Full". I imagine that it's only a matter of time before those who are using the service will be required to pay for it.
 9.
I notice that if I am logged onto iportal on one computer, I cannot log onto it with another. Is my entire network under iportal then?
No. The Iportal service only allows you to log in from one computer at a time. This prevents you from giving your login details to someone else and they using your account at the same time to access Iportal.
