1. Well, seeing as Plan A, the referendum, was designed to tie the UK to the EU forever its not going very well is it? Plan B is Mrs May's horrendous deal which she is sticking to like a limpet, and is so awful, in the hope presumably that staying in will seem like a god-sent to everyone. The voting public, who are permanently fed a diet of how stupid they are, have seen the ruse coming and are none too pleased, to put it mildly. Now we await Plan C, named  Plan B because Plan A never happened of course.
2. We had a disjointeur/main cut out switch go on us. It was hypersensitive to everything at the end. So we just replaced it and everything is fine now.
3.

Our local small dairy farming family is doing ok I think. They get over 60,000 a year in subsidies. You wouldnt know to look at them or the farm though. :}
Don't know if you live in France or the UK but English dairy farmers are really suffering at the moment and many have gone out of the business in the last few years
I thought this thread was about fraud and bad accounting in the French system but for clarification I should have probably said  "over 60,000 euros".
4. Or email Edf, enclose a scan of the letter and ask them if they know anything about it.

Mimosa trees

I think what that near neighbour says should be taken with a pinch of salt in the future. Just smile and nod and then do nothing. Some of the locals can be a little eccentric or just plain batty at times and they like nothing more than a good wind-up.
7. I used Assurland to find best and cheapest house and car insurance https://www.assurland.com/assurance-habitation.html

Windy Collie

Charcoal biscuits are a good remedy for it but I am not sure if you can get them here. We just hold our noses and say ewwww you smelly dog and he slinks off to contaminate elsewhere.
9. I love my mobile but then I use it 95% of the time for texting. I skype for friends and family and the house phone is definately set to answer machine otherwise I would spend a lot of wasted time saying bonjour to a blank line and life is too short for that.
10. I grow carrots and lettuces in mine.
11. We have a Chaffoteaux Fluendo instant hot water heater running off of propane gas. Lovely hot water in kitchen and 2 bathrooms whenever. We run it on the standard size propane bottles and use, at most, 6 a year which is under 180 euros a year. Very economical.
12.
I paid out faxe fonciere online yesterday - just ignored the bit amount setting up an account. I've had an email confirming payment,so hopefully it worked.
Me too and paid as normal. I thought it was smoother than usual actually and email in seconds. :}
13. Good riddance. As to working again , he probably doesn't need to.
14. Whatever happened, it is for the best. Perhaps now they can concentrate on the football and put the trouble behind them. I think its time for a clean sweep anyway.
15.
Well his wife wasn't very bright ;)  Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! Mrs R51
True !! but she wasn't the only one with a vested interest.
16. I have nothing against him or his food but I think if I have to watch another cheffie series I will shoot myself. Enough.
17. I think he had it coming , not just for the speeding , and now it has. Que sera.
18.

I transfer mine bank to bank online with no problem at all. I chose to send euros from the beginning so I know how much I am getting. The rate is good. I pay a small fee and it takes me 10 to 20 seconds to complete the transaction and it arrives the next day. I dont think you could get much simpler. I cant be doing with third parties where you have to transfer your money first before it gets sent. Noone does anything for nothing even if they infer they do. They are not Charities or doing you a huge favour. They are doing it to make money.
Hez how do you get the euros in the first place ?
I am presented with the option to send euros or sterling on the page I send the money , in my online account. It is up to me. I send euros so I know from the start what rate I am getting and how much I will receive. It's just a matter of ammount and click, send as my french account is already saved there. Easy. I made the mistake once of sending sterling and the ammount I recieved wasnt as good. Presumably done at the french end or somewhere in between.

20. "surely the manager knew it was totally out of character" Maybe it wasn't though. Maybe he makes a habit of it. One of son's junior teachers who was supposedly a pillar of the community but who bullied the children in his class, turned out to be a raging alcoholic who shoplifted his booze from the local store on his way home. He hid it in his rucksack. Son had a part- time job there when he was at college and saw first- hand what he was doing. The reply was, oh hes been doing that for years and because of who he was he got away with it most of the time. It came out eventually but he managed to transfer to another school and carry on the same thing somewhere else presumably. So its not always as out of character as you might think. [:)]
21. One question. How are the police actually going to know that you have the alerts activated on your Sat Nav unless they stop every motorist, they see, with a rectangular device sited above the dashboard and check. Or do they have another way of knowing for sure?
22. I always use Interflora or Next and they have never let me down.[:)]
23.

I won't be disabling ours. It is a godsent.
Which can only really mean one thing can't it - habitual speeder !
Nope. Keep to the speed . Its just nice to know you are a few below when you pass the radar for peace of mind. Especially on those lovely 90-110-90-110-90 sections on the UK run.
24. We got ours from the UK when it was needed. It was under half the price.
