  1. If I was the Captain I would call them in after a few overs.Play the physcoligy game,do anything to keep them guessing. You are right about the late nights.I normally watch the first hour. Lets hope the weather holds of and we win. That will put Pontin under pressure.Great I say!
  2. A good start for England down under.Very good first over.Would be nice if they started earlier in the day though.
  3. Here in Morbihan when it rains it rains, but on the whole the weather is ok.We have had good weather the last few days but there are rumours of snow.I agree that in Finnistere it can be wet.I had a mobile home at Pont Aven for 7 years prior to moving here.It did seem to be very wet on times whilst on holidays.I did live in Kent at the time.
  4. Why was my message taken off the sport page?

    Poppy Protest

Braco those comments were out of order. I never fought in a war but my late father did(Burma). Yesterday was the day to wear your poppy with pride and remember the ones who fought and laid down their lives. Those scum burning the poppies are beneath contempt.
  7. I agree with what has been said. When you get to retirement you have got the T shirt etc.As long as we have enough to keep the wolf from the door,I am happy.
  8. Why have the miners been draged into this?I lived in a mining town in Kent during the strikes. What I saw was an eye opener.I was a union member all my working life. What was done in the name of the"cause"beggared belief.
  9. Just watched the tribute on TV.What a performer. He opened the hospital fete where I used to live in kent more than once. His mother lived in the town so I was told. RIP Norman
  10. Heard the news late last night.Takes me back to my youth,"Stitch in Time" etc. Very funny man.RIP Norman
  11. I agree. He did seem to live life to the full. RIP
  12. Maidstone and Dover area using the M20.
  13. Spending a few days in UK.Cannot wait to come home.Traffic is a nightmare. So many people about. Is it me or what?
  14. The lady at LD Lines gave me the money back less 10 pounds, admin costs I reckon.
  15. Spoke the company yesterday and said I had to go via Dover. They credited my account with the money I paid. Now going over with P&O.
  16. I was booked to go back on 12th Sept.I have now booked on P&O.Will wait and see if I get compo from the company. They will be offering alt' sailings from St Malo and Dieppe. No good to me because I am going back to Kent. I was told that LD LInes will transfer bookings to other ferry companies, but I cannot take the chance.
  17. I have a recipe for jam.Very nice indeed, makes about 2.5ltr of jam. 2 kilos Mirabelles 1.6 kilos sugar Pit the fruit, and pour over sugar.Coat the fruits with sugar and leave in a covered bowl overnight.juice will be released.Next in a large pot, bring the fruit to the boil until a temp' of 220f is reached stirring to keep from burning.starting at 219f,use the saucer test to see if it will gel, repeat until it sets.ladle very hot into sterile jars, seal, cool, upside down(to create a vacume seal). I would have scanned the recipe but scanner is not working.
  18. Best of luck.We have been here a year now. Molly and Mack like it here! So they tell me when we take them out for a walk.
  19. Just heard on local news(Dover),that LD lines could be in a bit of trouble. They have told staff there may be job losses. I am booked to return to UK next month.Deep joy.
  20. We have noticed the rise in prices here in 56 since we arrived a year ago.I agree about the veg,the quality is not good.Is France really the second most expensive? It was cheap at one time as we all know.

Thanks for the info.I assume on the veg patch they are watered in the soil, the same in the greenhouse.

    Nemotoeds?

Has anyone used these little critters before.Only my greenhouse and some veg have been got at.I was wondering how effective they are.Just been on a web page about them.I seem to remember years ago Gardeners World were raving about them.
